I did start watching "The Edge of Horizon" but for some reason it could not hold my interest for long. I found myself skip-watching more often than not in the latter half (perhaps because of how it got a bit repetitive) so I just gave up on finishing it until I was in the right mood for it. I'm usually not one to like melodrama too much. I do indeed like emotional things but only if they're justified and logical. If something feels dragged out and could've been resolved easily, I tend to lose interest, so this genre is a bit of a hit or miss for me and one that I usually don't gravitate towards lol.

But this one was done surprisingly well! I loved how well developed the characters were and how the writers and directors dealt with grief and survivor's guilt. They truly did it justice.

I'll check out "Shine" tho. I was waiting for it to finish but then just forgot about it lol. (Cheers for Kinnporsche fam for coming into this genre together!)

Just read a bit more about the history of Thailand and got to find out that this show is based upon real events that took place in Thailand. After the 1976 Thammasat University massacre, many student activists took to the jungles and drove the communist movement forward. Political unrest had been in motion since the 1960s but it took shape rapidly after the students got involved. Thailand's communist party was ultimately dissolved by the Thai government sometime in the early 1980s and led to the surrender of activists and fighters.

He's improved so much oml. I couldn't even watch him in Dinosaur love but look at him now. He did so well in When Light Fades! Proud of his progress. Hoping to see more of his handsome face lol

It's an online website that only exists virtually, it literally cannot make an actual impact on your life unless you let it. This is like strangers talking about random things in the real world, would you go around getting pissed off at every little thing a stranger says and pick fights with them over their opinions on a movie?

If something seems interesting to you, just give it a go. Not everyone has the same taste, what might end up being your favorite show might be someone's nightmare. So just sit back and relax, don't mind other people too much. This *is* a shared community afterall.

Ji Chang Wook's character arc puzzled me but his death pissed me tf off. I was so annoyed. Like bish you really gonna turn him evil over his sister dying when she voluntarily stayed back? No average human has the heart to go around killing others. That was just bad writing made to stretch the plot. But JCW's character watching them through CCTV & announcing their location was kinda funny ngl.
We could've done so much more with the other characters. Only KKH's character was well fleshed out, all the others felt underutilized.
Also, Kwon Se Jeong's ex husband dying off so early in the movie was such a turn off. This is why you don't save pissy, selfish characters. They make things so much worse. Dumb move.

But I really liked how the characters were quick on their feet & thought to communicate only via phone and the sprinkler & perfume thing too. It was also very interesting to see how the zombies evolved.

The portion of the movie where you understand why it's named "colony" was very fun & engaging. The metaphor with ants & how they share networks & communicate was a refreshing take that I enjoyed quite a bit. The mucus part & them creating almost an ant mill out of the conference building, aka "colony" was a really nice touch. It was creative & novel, I'll give it that.
It started off a little average, I was almost laughing at how bad it was in the first 30 minutes but that's the point. It starts off a bit slow but then progresses into something new and fresh in the zombieverse. This take was very refreshing and the characters were quite smart, but their deaths were so dumb and random. That's what pissed me off. Killing off the cast for unnecessary reasons.
At one point, my immersion broke completely cause I was so pissed at the writing. Made me drop my rating from a 9 to an 8.

From the preview for the commentary special episode, they all do look very happy & Siwon & Yujin also seem to be on good terms, even though their conversation indicates they haven't been meeting up with dating in mind yet. Who knows, the special meetup might change things.

Humans can be such fickle beings. Some will take even the smallest doubts and cling to them in fear of being hurt & stay the same instead of seeing all the good things that await them and taking a step forward. While others, no matter the hurdles, will keep their eyes on the positive & guide themselves with hope & sheer will & make it. They will defy all odds & prove the people that doubted them wrong. It's all about the mindset.
Psychology? Reading a person & predicting their decisions? All of it is only dire because you have no idea what point might stick with a person more & make them change their decision on a whim. It depends on how willing they are to get out of their comfort zone and how many things they are willing to fight for your sake. If the determination is there, nothing can stop them, but if they're scared, no matter how good things were, they won't try.

I don't know why I went on a philosophical rant but today's episode warranted this. I, as a viewer feel so hurt & disappointed, I can only imagine how the one who got stood up feels.

Wait hold up. This came out in 2023??!?!? By the vibes I was getting and the writing, it seemed to be something straight out of 2016. Will be taking away a whole star for giving us this crap in 2023.

Till the very end I was hoping that it wouldn't be like this, that there would be a twist the writer's would pull & our main character would get a buff but no. Even when there were only 10 minutes left of the episode, I was in denial. What a let down.
Everyone moved on so easily too. bruh.
