It's a great adaptation, don't worry. This is one of the best live action manga adaptations for sure.

If you've never seen Nagase outside of his comedic roles, this is definitely a must-watch! His expressive eyes in every scene always tell the story.

the fact that they were both in a CM 12 years ago and nishijima basically has seen her grow up makes their romance scenes a bit uncomfortable to me but it seems like it'll end up as unrequited love anyway

You should give Hana Nochi Hare a try if you want to see Mio take on a similar character

I agree with you. I loved the original so ofc I'll be biased but since they're doing a remake, I personally would want to see them do something different so if they're putting a bit more focus on the romance then that's fine by me; as long as they don't stray away from the actual moral in the story

just found out it's also on jraws.com but in 360p ish quality (somewhat better) so there's that if you ever want to rewatch

Wouldn't recommend taking the story seriously because it can be very irritating but it does keep you somewhat entertained. Tao and Kouhei's strong chemistry + strong female lead is where it's at!

For me, it's also the cast (and characters) but also having to learn more about little tidbits of JFTC in every episode especially at the start of every episode; I always like watching jdramas that showcase all sorts of professions so I also find this one in particular interesting to know. Plus, from what we've seen so far, the mystery genre is also a part of this show so that always keeps it exciting to watch (even if Shirokuma seems incredibly incompetent at times lol). Though I can see how one might not enjoy the current case from EP1 and I don't know when the case will end but surely in EP3 or EP4 I think.

Also I love how cheeky Sakaguchi Kentaro's character is <3
