I've seen several people complain about the time jump and the fact the main couple aren't together at college. While I agree that having them be apart without talking to each other for 5 years is a bit too much, I'm glad they weren't dating sooner. The last year of college and the first years in the working life are important stages, source of stress, which require a lot of investment. In view of the personalities of ShiYi and Xiaoju, if they had been together in their last year of college, there would have been problems. They would not have been able to focus fully in their studies, they would have argued often and could even have ended up breaking up. Their relationship seems more believable and hopeful once they finish growing up on their own, build a stable career for themselves, and have the confirmation that neither of them can forget the other. I would obviously have preferred to have a few more episodes on their reunion, to see them learn to know each other again, forgive each other for their past attitude and started their story on a better basis. But a lot of dramas have slanted end while the characters know each other a lot less than these two.
My very limited understanding of Chinese allows me to understand that ML was asked/assigned to another case and…
The problem if he was an informant from the start is that the police should have known him. While in the brigade, nobody knows him, the police don't trust him for most of the drama and he ignores everything. Which corresponds more to the fact that he would have been trained and protected by the former informant in order to take over his job one day rather than being already involved. Unless another branch of the police contacted him. I don't know...

Thanks you so much! So the ML was an informant you think? Or he becomes one till the end? I didn't understand her cousin will live. I'm happy to hear that!!
At the end of the drama, the entire drug network is dismantled (including that of the adoptive father of ML). The FL cousin is seriously injured in hospital (I don't think he is going to make it, given the severity of his injuries). The FL is reinstated in the police and takes in Coco, the daughter of the ML. As for the ML, he leaves I don't know where to do I don't know what. I didn't understand if he goes to infiltrate another network and becomes an informant or if he was already an informant before the story begins and continues his work. He leaves a farewell video to FL but unfortunately I didn't understand what he was saying.
The ending is happy and bittersweet at the same time. It is impossible to emerge physically or emotionally unscathed from such a story. But given the subject of the drama, the ending is happier than I expected.

If a generous soul, understanding Chinese, can tell me what the ML says at the end of the drama (episode 24), I would erect a statue for this person x)
I finally just saw episode 18 subtitled and shed tears when the ML tells his story.
Watching his mother die in front of him and being kidnapped / adopted by her murderer is horrible. The drama does a good job of showing us the tragedy of the poor who are exploited by the drug cartel.
I just saw the subbed episode. In fact, he says that his friend (the informant he allegedly killed in Episode 3) gave him a mission before his death: delivered Fang Lin(the scientist) to the police. He was calling the FL's captain when he got the call and was forced to change his plans to save her.
Thanks in advance x)

Indeed, I did not see or understand the scene which explains this. It makes so much more sense. Thank you !
Did you understand if the ML was a new informant or if he works undercover for a while? It is the thing I can't guess.
