Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
Mimi is a character that I like. But.... Spoiler Ep45 below
...she made me furious in episode 45! I understand the horror of her situation but, from the start, Changge helps her find solutions. She should have gone to see her!
Besides, the plan this time was to stop Yicheng for good. Once in prison, with her own son detained, how could she have threatened Mimi's brother and man?
The reasoning of the latter disappointed me enormously. She had an incredible chance to fix everything but instead of grabbing it, she condemned her friend, Ashile Sun and all the tribes of the great desert. She also didn't actually save the people she wanted to save as they remain at Yicheng's mercy. It's maddening ....

In the first part of the drama, Ashile Sun explains that his father loved him very much as a child. Then, suddenly,…
In fact, it is implied but I am waiting to see the last episodes with subtitles to see if there are more details.

It is clearly stated that the Khan swore to his sister-in-law to avenge her (implying that he admired her), that she murdered his brothers without his knowing, in order to put him in power and that from then on he despised her.

It is then easy to understand, as his paranoia attitude began when he rose to power, that it was the murder of his brothers that made him suspicious of everyone, caused him to isolate the children from Khatun's nefarious influence and to doubt his son, to whom he was not related by blood.

It is not said as clearly as I said.
But before episode 40, it is said that Khatun killed the Khan's brothers to put him in power because he had promised revenge for her.
From this, it is easy to understand why the Khan forbade She'er to see his mother and suddenly changed his attitude towards his son and towards his newly wife.

In the first part of the drama, Ashile Sun explains that his father loved him very much as a child. Then, suddenly, his attitude had changed. He even told him to break up with his best friend.
Throughout the drama we see the Great Khan oscillating between extreme mistrust and sincere love and admiration for his son. I didn't understand it.

Until the end of the drama when everything lights up.

The Great Khan admired the beautiful Khatun, his sister-in-law. To impress her and out of love, he swore to her that he would avenge the Sui Dynasty. By doing this, unknowingly, he sentenced his brothers to death whom Khatun will poison so that she can marry Khan and put him in power.
Betrayed and disgusted by the woman he loved, Grand Khan will become suspicious and paranoia. He is going to take She Er away from his mother so that she will not have a bad influence on him.
He will push the two brothers to become enemies because he is afraid that She Er will trust Ashile Sun too much who could end up betraying him. And he will move away and be wary of his son because, despite his love for him, he is afraid that the absence of blood connection will make Sun betray him one day.

Khatun is the cause of all this family drama.

When the story begins, we pity her a little when seeing Grand Khan mistreated her and get annoyed when she makes a sad face. But in reality, he knew she was faking it and that's what pissed him off. He knew the monster in that innocent face and was terrified and disgusted by her.

This drama is really great because even characters that annoyed me and that I did not expect anything are able to be understood by the end of the drama.
I think in particular of the Great Khan.

Can someone spoil the ending for me?
Peace is established everywhere. Leyan and Hao Du get married. Changge and A'Sun unofficially marry and return to live in the Grasslands with the Eagle's division.
She Er leaves on his side with the wolf division.

I am the same x) I would have liked to see more of my favorite characters and have a little more explanation of the situation. For example, does Ashile tribe still exist under the authority of a Great Khan or each division lives on its own?
But it stems from our love for this drama and its story. It's our wish to always see more of it.
Objectively, it's a very good ending. We can fill in the blanks by ourselves.

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
My opinion on the end of the drama, to read below.
Personally, I am satisfied with this ending.

First, it is rare to have a real conclusion in a drama as well as a happy ending for 4 leads. So it's already a victory.

Second, A'Sun and Changge are unofficially married. Changge poured tea for her mother saying that from now on A'Sun would be her husband and the latter made his request to the mother and swear an oath. No longer having parents to do the official ceremony, what they did can be seen as a wedding.
Moreover, Changge and A'Sun are an unconventional couple. It would have been weird to see them perform a classic wedding. Personally, I think A'Sun's 3rd wish will be for Changge to marry him in front of their friends when the time has passed. She still needs to grow up and get used to their relationship and the idea before that.

Third, it's not an open ending for the couple. They leave together for the grasslands after having sorted out all their problems. Peace is established and they live happily. The last scene just shows A'Sun coming back from a hunt or an expedition and finds Changge walking around. The fact that he's in his Tegin outfit and her in the Central Plains outfit is just a final tribute to their personalities. Neither of them denied their country, their people and their beliefs out of love. They managed to move forward together, keeping their opinion and objective. And I find it beautiful to underline it one last time at the end.

Fourth, I am very happy with the romance. Since episode 1, it has been built. They shared a lot of scenes together in the first 25 episodes (and the 2-3 episodes where they weren't together, A'Sun was thinking of her and their relationship continued to build). During the 5 episodes of separation, they keep thinking of each other (and it's damn romantic). And then, from episodes 31 to 49, they are a couple (even if they are sometimes separated by distance). We had 4 to 5 hugs, 2 kisses on the forehead, 1 real fake kiss (thank you parrots for creating a little action), several declarations of love and so on.
Considering this is primarily an adventure drama, the romance still got plenty of room and was very well written.

So yes, the end does not explain in detail everything that happens to the secondary characters, for example. But do we really need it? We know that peace reigns everywhere. Therefore, Shiba, Xu Feng, and the Elder Qin can go anywhere they want. They can stay with Changge or move to Tang. They are free to choose their life now that their mistress is no longer in danger. Of course it would have been nice to show them to us but I prefer to know that they are happy even without having a last scene with them rather than they die or that their fate remains uncertain.

In conclusion: There is no such thing as a perfect ending. We are often disappointed, especially in dramas. But the ending of this drama is one of the best there is. It's a happy ending, full of hope for the future, the people and the characters. The couples are together and happy, the friends are reunited and the villains are dead.

They are the crown prince and the former empress of the Sui dynasty. Khatun was holding them hostage but since they were not part of the plot, Tang decided to take them in and "forgive" them.

I see. It's a beautiful end in itself. Just a little rushed and a lack of explanation on some things (like the fate of the Ashile tribe, what becomes of Senior Qin and so on). But it is okay.
The political chaos has been settled. Peace has been established in Tang and the rest of the countries of the North. Most of the characters are alive and happy. It's great!

You are so helpful! <3
It makes sense that after Khatun's misdeeds and Mimi's death, Sher withdraws from the "competition" and A'Sun takes on the responsibilities he never wanted as tribe leader.
Oh it's good that she's learning to fight and protect people even though she's still very young for it.
So, what battle is there at the end of the drama? Is it against the Sui armies?

What happens to the Eagle division and the daughter of the governor of Shouzhou?
