-Kind of mehhh so far-ik the whole point if the story is having a chaebol work as a police officer, but idk, its…
Ouch.
Every democracy worth their last has extensive training given to their police force. Prejudice is one of the most important aspect driven home for any police force. This applies to them more than even politicians.
One of the most important part of police work is to maintain a healthy relationship with people, unlike military force.
The FL's mistake is not her violence and not listening to the ML. It's her prejudice and later on her hubris.
The fact that she has not apologized and in fact has doubled down on her hubris is what makes the FL poorly written. She was in the wrong, not just as police but also as a human being. The least she should have done is say sorry and try her best to make amends.
People seem to forget, usually police who do what she did get fired and jailed. Even after the shit storm the FL is still acting as if the ML is in the wrong. He never was wrong, neither legally nor morally. It's not like the FL does not know it....so, the only other reason is hubris.
but, significant cop FL's in Kdramas are full of their own shit. Perhaps intentional writing to portray a strong woman I guess. the FL right now looks very very ugly.
I mean same goes for ML running around and beating people up lol. Pretty infuriating that he got away with it…
He beat up one person, who attacked his friend.
Point is not FL or ML doing something. The writer should logically conclude that act of FL or ML. If they did something wrong, they should either face consequences or make up to the person they did bad.
That's how stories should go & character growth happens.
Cops being thugs with a badge is a typical kdrama trope. Alternatively they are also depicted as being bumbling…
She is competent police though. her backstory indicates she has a lot of righteous anger - the kind that writer want's the viewers to be sympathetic towards her and ignore the BS built into her character.
Being violent is not the biggest flaw written by the writer for the FL. It's her discrimination of people, in this case the rich ML. then comes her lack of humility, she has not apologized to the ML and the writer is not going to write one, since the FL's in kdrama never say sorry to the ML. Last is her hubris, you can literally see her annoyance towards the ML in the end of ep1 and even in the preview of ep2.
She has absolutely no sympathy towards the person she put through shit. Her prejudice is not addressed, her violence is not addressed and the writer will continue the character to have same attitude until she falls in love with the ML.
Episode 1 was spectacular in setting up the plot. ML looks and fits the Korean Batman part to a T.
but Kdrama's with the FL as a cop shows them as rude and annoying, at least now a days. I was rooting for the ML to punch her in the face and tell her to settle down. Any cop behaving like the FL in real life would have definitely lost her job and probably be jailed as well.
Whatever I know of Korea, the cops for the most part are very smart, well trained and know how to behave. Only a banana republic would have cops like the FL on their force.
I'm only on episode 3, but I can't believe the FL would rather people drag her for abuse of power than just tell…
Cheating?
The writer in later episodes shows FL as never being truly in love with her boyfriends. In fact, the writer explicitly makes the FL say she always remembered ML when she was with her boyfriends.
So, they were truly never her boyfriends. Fl always had another man in her heart. Only her body with these men.
Can't really call what her boyfriends did as cheating when she was the one who was always cheating in the first place.
Anyhow, the whole drama is a shitfest of poor writing and even poor characterization. The writer was only interested in throwing as many men at the FL as possible to fill her harem.
FL hates men - she fks dozens of them to teach them a lesson. History is proof that men hate being used by women…
yes, she is your typical person with modern liberal western values and probably a feminist. A lot of Kdrama FL's physically assault ML's. It's pretty much a norm in Kdramas now a days. Kdramas make no bones about normalizing woman, especially FL's thrashing men. Many times, it's shown as funny or the man deserved it.
The FL in this one is a feminists wet dream. She is free willed, strong, independent and has no issues having sexual relations with multiple men & she is ending up with a traditional prince charming.
The message seems to be, even woman with this value system will end up with traditional prince charming. You know, having cake and eat it too kind of scenario.
FL hates men - she fks dozens of them to teach them a lesson. History is proof that men hate being used by women…
I don't really hate her. She pretty much represents a significant portion of women who have modern liberal western values & STD's.
The disappointment is at the ML, who is a famous actor, with great looks, intelligence, money, kind & who is old fashioned in his approach to life & women, being paired with the FL.
They are very incompatible. In this ML was real, he would not even be giving this kind of a FL, even a glance. She would never exist in his universe. Just to make the point, I will flip this. Imagine a highly successful, extremely beautiful, intelligent, lot of money, kind woman, who valued herself, falling in love with an average looking, middle income, violent, foul mouthed man who treats women like sex toys. No woman of that class would ever settle for a guy like that.
She deserves someone like her. A man with modern western values who shagged hundreds of women & have dozens of STD's to share with the FL.
You can be together even if the cultures and religions are different but, if the core value system is different, the relationship will always fail. As example, if they have a daughter, the father would want to raise her with his value system, while the mother couldn't care if the daughter lived like her...Not that it's wrong but the value system is completely different and incompatible.
imagine being asked why he has a beard.... it should be the other way around, if the ML has less facial hair than FL, which is usually the case in Kdramas, we should be asking what happened to his facial hair..
I came across this and am on the third episode. I don't know how the rest of the series will go, but so far I…
point is not the break up, it's fine. it sets up the conflict of this drama.
It's how it's resolved.
All dramas where the ML breaks up, it's the ML crawling back for another chance & it makes sense since he is the one who broke up.
In this one, the FL breaks up and it's the ML doing the crawling back with FL barely acknowledging him. Why is the ML crawling back after being dumped by the FL? Did he wrong her in anyway? It's her that's wronged him and she is making a move to make up for it. The story and characters don't make sense.
FL was actually a very good girlfriend if you remember all their flashbacks and see the recent episodes. Her personality…
From a story POV, there is nothing in her breaking up. After all conflict needs to be established to create an interesting story.
How the conflict is resolved determines whether the story is good or bad.
This is one just stupid.
The root cause of the conflict is the FL. So, the resolution of the conflict should also come from her. Meaning, it should be her standing up to her family and deciding ML is way more important to us and chase him.
This one does not make any sense. ML gets dumped and again chases her and again faces the prospect of getting dumped. That makes the ML one extremely stupid moron.
Here is the million dollar question.name a single Kdrama or Cdrama in last 2 years where the ML dumps the FL and…
Loved that drama as well.
The whole damaged ML was a refreshing take from the usual 'princes ML's' in cdramas.
the FL was one of the strongest, independent women in recent cdramas. She simply breaks down the ML without pursuing him.
This is an example of good story telling.
a hot headed ML with lot of issues an innocent straight as arrow FL from stable family Once the break up happens, FL does not grovel or simp the ML. She is never shown compromising on her dignity. Eventually it's the ML that breaks down. That's a good story telling. Character growth for the ML who gets redeemed by the woman who loves him.
It's a circle that made sense. Conflict was set up, Conflict addressed, character growth and happy ending.
Here is the million dollar question.name a single Kdrama or Cdrama in last 2 years where the ML dumps the FL and…
Yup, that one was very very good. but like you said, the ML does not dump her and she does not chase him.
He was basically damaged goods & his only salvation through out the drama was the FL. The power equation in that drama was always with the FL.
incidentally, even that drama, it was the FL who had another man close to her. Not going to nitpick on that one because it was very well done with a different ML & FL than the usual trope filled cdrama leads.
She said today in the latest episode "work is more important that love," after the ML has been going above and…
being in love means submission. That basically is the essence of being in love, it's unconditional. The ML is in love, it's unconditional, it's submissive, it's no matter what.
this whole 'why should she be submissive, don;t chase men, your own career is important', shit works well,'when the drama allows the ML to have similar ideas - you see zero sexual discrimination. meaning, the ML also should not be submissive to FL, he should not be her shadow chasing her, helping her, looking after her etc etc. he should also prioritize his own life and career over the FL...After all, why do strong independent woman need these needy men anyway? it's not like they add any value to the life of a strong, independent career women, except being clingy with shitty, old concept like love.
She said today in the latest episode "work is more important that love," after the ML has been going above and…
In real world that ML would be shagging other women while chasing the FL. That's how men are in real life, especially men who are extremely good looking, rich and successful. In fact a man like ML would not even need to try. Like i said, unlike most men, this guy would not even need to lift a finger to get women. You need to leave drama world and go out to figure out how things work in real life.
My central point was about the story-line. This drama fails both as a drama as well as depiction of real life.
as drama, at some point the FL needs to start showing she is as invested, especially in a man who is frankly way better than her in every sense. The drama shows her dumping him, the drama at some point should show her making some efforts to win him back - not just the guy who is way too good for her, always chasing for reasons we can't seem to comprehend.

Same ML, FL, 2ML, 2FL that we have in hundreds of dramas.
Same characters, same love triangles, same tropes.
The execution was nice, actors played their parts well and it was an enjoyable drama for the most part.
A lot of Kdrama FL's physically assault ML's. It's pretty much a norm in Kdramas now a days. Kdramas make no bones about normalizing woman, especially FL's thrashing men. Many times, it's shown as funny or the man deserved it.

On contrary, ML hates women - so, he completely avoids them for some reason. Also, history is proof that men who hate women never have sex with women.
The way FL is written here, even public toilets that have not been cleaned for a year would have less STD's
offers nothing new both in terms of story or characterization.
but the drama delivers on what it promises. 6/10
If you like these kind of romcoms, for you it should be 9/10
it should be the other way around, if the ML has less facial hair than FL, which is usually the case in Kdramas, we should be asking what happened to his facial hair..

Period Cdramas are 100 times better than their modern ones.
The whole tone of modern Cdramas comes across as fake for some reason, exceptions are there but they are rare.
