People are getting tired of Mary Sue and damsel in distress FLs
They went over-board with superhero FL in this one. The Ml was alright. He is a decent fighter and one that makes good strategies and plans.
Not sure if you completed the drama but it's mostly the ML that is using his brain for the most part, including the master plan to rescue everyone in the end,
By far i finished ep 6 now one left. To be honest it's awesome Han So Hee is just slaying. I think Park Seo Joon…
These kind of dramas are rare, even on international scene, The amount of good horror, sci-fi and fantasy dramas are very very rare. Even decent ones are rare.
The amount produced itself is very less compared to other genres. So, even a half decent one is appreciated because we don't get many to satisfy the hunger in first place. Even though Sweet Home 2 was all over the place, it had it moments and was better than a lot of dramas made all over the world in this genre.
Just to compare, watched 'Rebel Moon' yesterday and boy did it stink. It was not just bad, it was epic level bad and I usually like sci-fi movies or dramas even if they are half decent.
People just don't get how rare a drama of the type 'Gyeonseong Creature' is, not just in Kdrama but all over the world. There are probably a dozen dramas like this in the last decade all over the world, that's it. I have really fallen in love with non-romance Kdramas. They are probably the best drama makers in the world in non-romance category.
People are just airing out their thoughts, it is literally the intention of a comment section. What you quoted…
Point 1 - You accused me of shaming FL, when asked of proof, you now change subject. Can I assume this is you accepting that you were wrong on this?
I abused ML but the real abuse was to the writers who wrote these pathetic, simpy and absolute garbage of non specified gender masquerading as men.
PSJ character in the other drama borderlines on it, if you read all my posts there you would know. why not read my post in that drama section comparing it to 'All of us are Dead' and the similar pitfalls that drama almost went through when it came to ML, only to be rescued by his RELATIONSHIPS with other characters, which included the older lady, a substitute for his mother.
Agreed to your point that even that drama has some cringy moments for ML and FL, which I have specifically posted on, if only you cared to read. That PSJ drama did not concentrate on romance, hence was saved similar pitfall 'All of are dead' fell in. If it did, I would have screwed the writer of that drama as well.
End of episode 7 in that drama pretty much shows the numerous people who were helped by the ML and FL was just one of them. Throughout the drama it is very very clear he puts his own people above everything, including the FL. He is selfish in that sense and openly so.
While his attraction to FL was bit jarring considering the background, the drama pretty much implies he is no virgin waiting on the love of his life. He has decent interactions with other women. If anything in that drama it's the FL who seems to have the role reversal - A very capable woman who the flamboyant ML managed to win over.
Shame on these people who judged Samdal for having 4 boyfriends after the break up while Yongpil has none. This…
Actually, it was the choice of the writer to write the characters that way.
kdrama writers now a days choose to write the ML is a very specific way where they are not shown in love with other women for most of the dramas. The only woman these ML's have ever looked at or loved is only the FL. FL did not choose to date all those men - the writer did. ML did not choose to remain a simpy virgin pining for FL - the writer did.
30+ year old virgin CEO who only ever looked at and loved the FL is the go to trope now a days. Just check the dramas running right now. Almost all of the ML written in these dramas are like that.
The FL's are doing just fine. The writers have given them enough juice and variations to keep us engaged.
the ML's are repetitive, fake, boring and frankly suck.
The point being raised is that these dramas written by female Kdrama writers seem to follow a very specific pattern where the ML is written in certain way just like this dramas ML. And the FL is always more realistic in love, career and relationships. Pick any of the 6 Kdramas running right now written by female writers and you can see the same pattern in the ML's. very virgin, never dated any other woman, never looked at any other woman, no interaction in any other woman, don't even have a female dog in their life.
Below are dramas currently running or just finished in this genre. Why not go through how these female writers built the ML in these dramas and compare them to the variation in writing the FL.
My Demon A good day to be a dog Samdal-ri My Man is cupid the Story of Park's marriage contract Castaway Diva Live your ow life
Or dramas that just finished
King the land Love to hate you See You in My 19th Life
Again, it's the writers who CHOOSE how these characters are written. If she wanted to, the writer could have easily written ML dating multiple women and FL deeply in love and not even looking at any other man. but that never happens in Kdramas. the writers want virgin ML's for the FL and here we are....watching a 40 year old wimp, simpy pathetic man written as ML.
Everyone's saying PSJ is a miscast and his acting is really bad in this show. Is this actually true or just exaggeration??
He was very good. his character was one that had multiple sides. As the drama goes on, the facade the character puts up start coming apart.
If anything, the FL was not consistent and the acting was stiff. Most of drama she had only one expression but the character was written as superhero with god complex.
This almost went down the line of 'All of us are Dead' but fortunately they did not. In 'All of us are dead' the ML sees his mother in horrible state, undead and few hours later he is shown running in joy for finally getting a kiss from FL. Any normal boy, at that age losing his mother would be devastated, to the point where the emotions would be shock and sorrow for significant amount of time. The makers wanted to push the romance part and screwed up big time by belittling the raw emotions of losing a mother. It did not make any kind of logical sense in that drama.
In this one, the writers almost went that line but pulled back, hopefully intentionally.
As the drama goes on, we get more and more background of ML, his motives and what drives him. It becomes completely clear to viewers, it's not FL that drives him but the family and friends he made. the family he built was what drives him and he would go to any lengths to save them.
The best moment in the drama was the young ML outside jail comforting the lady who becomes his mother figure. The to and fro between the ML and the older lady and their absolute dedication to each other shines as the drama goes on - not the relationship between ML and FL.
This is another drama where romance is not needed. 🙄But it's added anyway.
the first 7 episodes had like 2 mins of romance. I suspect even in other parts, it will be remain same - hopefully.
You are right though, it did not need romance but with ML and FL in fray, there has to be strong emotional bond, feelings are usually easy to write. Friendship would be very hard to write that's probably why they went down this line.
People are just airing out their thoughts, it is literally the intention of a comment section. What you quoted…
i thought you did not want to discuss drama? your first post pretty much states that...did you change your mind?
anyway, the ones slut shaming FL were supporters who basically affirmed they would never watch drama where ML was in lot of relations....what was the word used?...oh yeah MANWHORE
preach to the ones slut shaming, not me. I am proponent of grown men and women having healthy amount of relationships, not be a 40 year old virgin simping for someone.
I was ever shaming the impotent simpy wimp ML...for being an impotent doormat.
you quoted what i posted, show me where i slutshamed FL? i suggest you ask refund from your school, they obviously failed in their duty.
Don't ever demand from others online. Ask nicely or beg. We may reconsider.
If you are getting triggered by posts, just stop reading them. Again, dont tell others what to do....you might get people doing exactly opposite.
Lastly, handsome, virgin, only ever loved at FL, never looked at other woman ever, wimpy, simpy, impotent ML for the win......We demand PURE VIRGIN man..nothing else is acceptable.
People are just airing out their thoughts, it is literally the intention of a comment section. What you quoted…
it's the world of safe spaces, Few members are under the misguided assumption that this is a safe space, it is NOT.
As you said and I reiterate, it's the freaking comment section. Rather than telling people not to comment, they should do everyone a favor and just stop looking here.
They get triggered and come here and abuse people, it's just silly.
Ep 1 was pretty good for a set up. really wish they go light on the romance. The ML comes across as bit of teenager on his first crush, which does not really suit the set up. Imagine being in your 30's, your life is on the brink of being destroyed, everything gone and worse ending up dead, the last thing you are thinking of is romance.
You simply don't go after the girl your mate loves, there are no 'conditions apply' in this. It's simply not a thought you entertain, ever.
Not sure if you completed the drama but it's mostly the ML that is using his brain for the most part, including the master plan to rescue everyone in the end,

If a character has a gun, they can use it from far away.
It's not a knife that you need to be right near the person to cause harm.
Please stop making people with guns running to stabbing distance to use it.
Can I assume this is you accepting that you were wrong on this?

when i watch a drama like this, I need to to see piles of dead bodies.
the second half is literally just that.
This one promised horror, gore and thrills and delivered on them.
It's pretty much heavy on Horror, thriller and gore.
if you don't like any of these, you are not gonna enjoy this one.
In 'All of us are dead' the ML sees his mother in horrible state, undead and few hours later he is shown running in joy for finally getting a kiss from FL.

Japan is no exception. There are half a dozen other countries that have done worse.
The strong always got away with these kinds of acts.
Drama got lot better as it went on.
there were some character inconsistencies but nothing that breaks the drama.
both actors playing ML and FL played their parts well.
your first post pretty much states that...did you change your mind?
