Not as good as One Cut of the Dead but it's to be expected since I already anticipated the antics from this director. But don't get me wrong One Cut of the Dead is a masterpiece so I give this one a solid 9, and I think people who didn't like One Cut might like this one more, such a heartwarming ending. The acting is also brilliant, it seems he has now a budget to get good theatre actors. Love to see more from Ueda Shinichiro, he's a think outside the box type of director, already got a unique niche style with only few films on his resume. He will be a cult type of filmmaker similar to Sion Sono, Takashi Miike & Ishii Katsuhito.
I am wondering about it too! I've already finished the drama and I'd award it the title of the best if it was…
I heard hanazawa naoki 2 is just getting average reviews in Japan but if we will based it on ratings then it will definitely win the best this year. I haven't watched season 2 though so I can't say if it's true. I already forgot events happen in season 1 so I need to rewatch that but right now I don't have that much time for dramas so I don't know if I will be able to watch that this year. I bet I won't like it as much as I like season 1 since I already know the formula of those dramas ( Jun Ikeido dramas).
I'm just an average watcher of jdramas so I don't know about timeslot and how should that be a factor. For me dramas are all the same, even 4-6 episode dramas from wowow I rank them along regular dramas with 10-12 episodes
MIU might become the best Japanese drama this year, so far I give that title to either Kotaki Kyodai to Shikuhakku (same screenwriter) or Kokoro no Kizu wo Iyasu to Iu Koto, damn long titles. But anyway episode 2 is heartwarming, episode 4 is a masterstroke but it's episode 6 that makes me think it might compete with those 2 giants. If this drama end in a high note just like what Kyodai did this will be an easy 10/10 drama for me.
I find it really good, production is top notch. I just wish in the future they adapt this into a full movie, go in depth with the characters and have a central theme.
Glad they give kawabe moment to shine and as usual she delivers. Also, it seems negoro changed his content on his youtube now, I wonder what happen in the latest episode lol.
The question is...is she really gay in the first place. Interesting drama we don't know if there should be LGBTQ+ tag right now. Acting is also good, Takeuchi Aisa is a very good actress for her age.
The trailer was a bit misleading as it is not your typical war action movie, the climax only happen at the beginning and that's it, but it's not boring to me. I like it a lot, I even rank it above Eternal Zero which is from the same director. Historically I don't know if it's accurate but it can really get uplifting towards the end. Suda is great Tanaka Min as well, Hamabe was just there to sell the movie. Smart lead tag is on point, if you enjoy movies such Imitation Game, The fifth State, Theory of Everything, this movie is like that.
I get the message it was conveyed well in my opinion. It would be more relatable to anyone who are working at home at this current situation. The character of Yumiko was a nice addition to strenghten the theme of this story, but the mystery part is lackluster in my opinion. There's too many holes, unrealistic like straight out of an anime mystery visual novel game, so yeah it can get entertaining as long as you can ignore the unrealistic part. The acting is surprisingly good, most of these actors are not known for being a solid actor, but kudos to them they all deliver especially Honda Tsubasa.
This movie just hits different because of this pandemic right now. The message was supposed to be something more abstract, something connected with olympics, but as I watched it, the dialgoue, the lyrics from the song, it's like a commentary on our world right now. Technical aspect is superb, the cinematography, audio and that song created this atmosphere that will immersed you from beginning to end. It gripped me more than any zombie movie could. I didn't noticed an hour already had passed. An almost accidental masterpiece.
