Takayanagi looks like someone who had quit twitter because he so tired of bullsh*ts that are rampant there lmao. Only Japan would dare having this concept in their drama. I wouldn't mind if it looks low budget cause the concept is interesting. Also rare to see students who look like real highschool students, I'm looking at you producers who cast oguri shun, sato takeru as highschool students during their late 20s. Good first episode and yeah the comparison to suzuki sensei is spot on.
Ozosaki no Himawari vibes, such a heartwarming drama, Japan is really the best with this type of genre. Finally a non robotic character for takahata mitsuki thank god.
Kawase managed to convey these two very sensitive themes that often go into a melodramatic route, teenage pregnancy and child adoption. The movie hit the required emotions from the father's perspective, mother, biological mother and especially the child (watch out for that ending credits). The interview part is a nice touch, brilliant acting on that part. She also outdone herself directing this film, imagine the task required in guiding the young but brilliant Makita Aju on her role in this movie. An easy masterpiece for me, a perfect example of why I love Japanese movies.
I'm curious what will happen in this drama 7 episodes left. I love the laid back feel, watching these two feels like young takaki and akari in five centimeters per second, same interaction but adult version. I love the ending song too.
Great movie it will give you the best motivation you need, I literally hit the treadmill after. Lang Ping is one of the most awesome figures in history of sports which is brilliantly portrayed by Gong Li in this movie. Perhaps the most realistic sports movie I've ever seen they even convinced some of the greatest volleyball players in the world to act as themselves in the movie and the result is not only natural acting but an immersive play by play, kudos to the director.
A film that post more questions but never answer a damn thing, a plot that can be interesting but paced like a snail moving a brick. I wonder what appeal this type of movies for me, it could be its curiousity arousing nature, dream like atmostphere or maybe a nice exercise for my shrinking brain. Natural chemistry between actors like it seems they are not acting at all, banter is so good. So Dam Park who specialize playing these enigmatic, mysterious characters (Parasite, A Singing Goose) is the one that drives the plot, ghost like character, can accurately judge a character, can understand any language, she's like straight out of a Haruki Murakami novel. In a world where everyone's attention span get shorter due to internet, heck we even have tiktok movies nowadays, this is a movie that would not be for everyone but if you're in it for the atmosphere or maybe a lame ass reason that you like so dam park like I do then there's a chance you will like it too.
Go Makoto...please dorama no kamisama, let him end up with Kiki. Nakano Taiga is so damn talented, he could play…
He is really god damn talented you should watch him in more character driven festival type of movies that's where he excels the most, same can be said with Ishibashi. It is rare to see these type of talents in this type of genre but good for them as it would only increase their marketability as actors.
Quite tricky of them to hint their is a main villain when there is no villain in the first place. The reveal is also predictable borderline unpredictable does that make any sense? no right lol let's just say a bit underwhelming for me. But this drama is more on the message that really gets heart wrenching in the end. Overall good drama, strong performances and again god tier soundtrack.
Finallly watched it with subs and what can I say what a great film indeed. Japan has a way to make you feel suffocated with its grounded portryal of family problems but at the same time give you that much needed hope in the end. Brilliant perfromance form its cast, Mieko harada is darn believable as a woman with alzeimers and Ikematsu and Tsubamuki represents the type of person, how we act when we get hit with similar situation. The subtle change in Tsubamuki's facial expression from the film's climax to its ending sums up the whole movie.
Taiga would really be the guy if he suda masaki nakamura tomoya in this drama. I've seen that happen before and I see that happening here again. It's just sometimes drama gods would reward the one that gives more effort.
Japan has fair share of visual novel type of mystery in their dramas, Anata no Ban Desu, Nippon Noir and the uber popular 3 Nen A Gumi for example. Its an acquired taste not everyone will like it but if the mystery hoook you there is a chance you will love it. I hate nippon noir for a fact that I don't give a damn about everything in that drama which is a total opposite of what I feel about Kiken Venus and it also helps that I love the chemistry betweeen these two leads. As a guy I can easily say Satoshi Tsubamuki is such a good looking guy, he looks atleast 10 years younger than his actual age but damn how can you be so lucky with Yoshitaka and Nakamura anne at your side, two of the most gorgeous Japanese actress IMO.
I was a bit worried at first when I saw Araki Yuko in this type of role, she may be a mediocre actress but has enough range to play the role and more importantly fits the character really well. I shouldn't doubt WOWOW, they never f*cked up casting even once, other japanese tv station should learn from them. The drama is great so far, very engaging first episode, great veteran actors, I love that severus snape looking detective so freaking badass, music is superb btw, WOWOW managed to hoard these great composers.
I would say it's an acquired taste, I ended up liking it. The mystery part hooked me already. No wonder big actors such as Tsubamuki Satoshi agreed to this.
