Most award winning movies are not meant for casual viewers just like last year's standouts Burning and Shoplifters. Parasite is different, it's not just thought provoking, but also very entertaining that you will forget it's a movie tackling societal inequality at the same time. Also, the movie is not a slow burn, the pace won't make anyone yawn. The film is about two families living in two different worlds, the Wealthy, living a superior life, worrying that someone may cross the line, and the Basement Dwellers(the Poor), leeching like a parasite, relying on craftiness just to survive. The Wi-Fi scene at beginning is clever, it seems mundane, but if you think of it deeply that's the core theme of this movie. Quite possibly the most entertaining critically acclaimed movie ever.
She is really good and natural I’m really surprised by your comment
Nope, examine her character she's the type who can't say what's in her mind, I see the character holding her tears in that scene, so the role just fits her perfectly. Had that scene requires heavy drama, the actress(arimura kasumi) would have failed. She's just an ok actress in my books, I even could name 15-20+ japanese actresss better than her (same age group). It's the combination of her image and her agency that got her those roles, and just like I've said just like Idols.

It's Arimura Kasumi and Terada Aki is morikawa aoi. I agree that she's not the best actress, she has very limited range, but I don't agree that she suppose to be emotional in that final scene, some scenes just needs subtle acting. Crying on cue is not a sign of great acting. It's her popularity and charisma that got her those roles. Same can be said to those wooden idols who keeps getting casted left and right.
I really hope she doesn’t get back with her ex, he is so abusive/ manipulative. I’d rather the drama be her…
I guess you haven't been exposed to slice of life jdramas, just like you said self improvement is what this drama it about, whether he ended up with her ex it's not important. Ofcourse there will be a bit romance but not the type of romance in a korean drama.
lol that lips. BTW she looks more similar to Morikawa Aoi instead - similar facial feature, similar height, even…
I haven't been impressed with Sei's acting but maybe my opinion on her will be different in the future. I actually find morikawa versatile or at least play two types of character convincingly, the savage/psycho characters and weak/bullied/pushovers type of characters.
Another movie that was rated by kids who expect a cute romantic comedy movie. This movie is very philosophical, it will question what is is to be alive. Quite possibly the most daring, arthouse film coming from Hirokazu Koreeda.
Film rating system exist not only to protect kids from obscene scenes in movies, but also an indication to the types of audience this movie was made for, given you are matured enough then you would definitely like this one. This is the movie where Wachowski Brothers scouted doona bae for cloud atlas. Acting here is a 10.
In an alternate world where Esports players are all hot and good looking. Seriously though to anyone who loves gaming like myself watch this. This one focus on esports types of games like dota, lol etc.
Im so confused about Shinji XD, what he says in the end of the 1st epi contradicts what he did. Someone halp lol.
Typical obssesive boyfriend and to make it worst he's also full of ego, and that's why he act like that in front of his co workers and won't admit how much he loves Nagi. He also read the atmosphere as much as Nagi, BUT unlike Nagi whom only prevents herself to say what's in her mind, Shinji on the other hand is so toxic that ended up harming the person he cares the most. I already anticipate the writers to give him an epic character development. Played brilliantly by Takahashi Issei btw.

Apparently that whistle scene is real damn. Now I'm really impressed how both actors play their characters.
