The reason why I stick to Japanese dramas is because I want to avoid the cliche type of story, so I am kinda disappointed with this one. It became too soapy IMO, so many unnecessary actions just to make it more dramatic. Don't get me wrong I don't mind dramatic scenes especially if it's done right, just like that scene with her father. Thank goodness though the theme is still strong in this one, just imagine if no earthquake happens, this drama would look like an ordinary drama show.
Sarcastic humor is strong in this one. Typical Jdrama comedy. Don't expect sherlock level of mystery or you'll end up disappointed. Good watch, I love the banter between these two, and Hamabe is next-level cute.
The late starter (she started her acting career in 25, which is pretty unusual in Japan) and late bloomer is great…
Does she have theater background? There's no way she just acted at 25 and already this good. I've watched her in 2 dramas and 1 movie and she's very different in each role.
Another contender for the best Jdrama of the year. Episode 4 is the best so far. I didn't see that coming. The direction, writing, cinematography is perfect. God damn!!! that shot when they lift her up, it was not just visually pleasing, but also a major turning point in this drama.
Would you be willing to explain further about why Justin did what he did? Maybe I missed something (as I tend…
This is Kentaro's best performance imo, he might take the kengo kora route after this who knows. I may not like the pace but I really love the vibe I get from this drama. Trust WOWOW for the ending haha.
I imagine when they pitch this story, the producers gave a green light right away. Although the idea is fresh and brilliant, I feel the execution could have been better. I feel pacing is the biggest problem, the beginning is a bit fast, it's not like a marathon, but a 100 meter dash. But once they start running and swords start clashing the movie became engaging and thriling. It also have some funny moments which added to the entertainment value of the movie. The acting is great and each have their moment to shine. Good movie, I'm just a bit disappointed cause I expect too much from that epic trailer.

You didn't miss anything, the drama didn't have any explanation or even a hint as to why he did that. All we know is it's because of circle of poverty. Justin told kiyotaka his frustration, it's not that he didn't want to study but he can't because of financial problems. Justin didn't try to kill Kiyotaka, it just happens kiyotaka is in that area. Their target is those people kiyotaka is having a meeting with. He said kiyotaka is hypocrite because he thought he's with them. It's either justin is a gun for hire or a rebel. I often see news that criminals are using minors as minors can't be sent to jail. Let's see how this experience will take its toll on kiyotaka.
All the subplots seem underdeveloped. They tackle like 2-3 topics each episode and already conclude them either…
Yeah I think it's too much. I didn't feel it on episode 2 but here it's obvious. I think narration could have made a difference like if in the first episode we see a glimpse of the end and the rest are just flashbacks. I still like the drama though, and maybe next episode will be the same pace as the first episode.
I find episode 3 underdeveloped but living here in the philippines I always see this kind of news, so I think I know Justin's backstory and why he did that. Kudos to wowow though and the Philippine production this topic is very well researched, and it connects perfectly to this drama's theme. Also, ending credits always give me goosebumps from music and this time seeing our country's beautiful scenery thru japanese camera lens.
I remember Moteki in this movie, from iconic japanese music to male lead who is head over heels in love with a girl. Kiko Mizuhara is such a tease, but also in a bitchy role lol. She made guys fell for her and dump them after. Part of me blame these guys though for falling madly in love just like that. They are also not in love with her but with the persona they created for her, their dream girl. Not much different from an imaginary girl that didn't exist. Overall good movie, acting is good, probably kiko mizuhara's best. People hate this movie and I don't blame them, because although romance tag is correct, it's still a bit misleading, many have been trolled lol. There should be a different tag for brutally honest romance movies like this.
Recommended especially to guys. You'll learn a thing or two in this movie.
I hate detective conan type of mystery, like how they lay clues, so I didn't quite like that part, it started to bore me from then. The movie redeems itself on the last part though when they raised their hards and contemplate wanting to live, that was very uplifting scene. Acting is great, Kuroshima Yuina is the best for me. The title, "12 Suicidal Edgy Teens" suggests that all characters should be annoying and Yuina is the most annoying character. Mackenyu could have done better though, his speech about living didn't move me. The feels should have started with him and not with the music.
Well i have BIG expectation about this movie because of the casts. But, i'm very dissatisfied about this movie.…
She played an annoying character so the fact that you got annoyed with her proved that she did a great job. I think she is the best actress in this movie.
This is very good and informative article. I haven't watched this series so I can't give my opinion on whether this drama destroys Japanese cinema. If they just made those sequels for money even though the quality will drop then I can see the argument. We have this problem in our country where the number of episodes per series depends on its rating which resulted to writers ruining the original script. I think the comparison with asadoras was based on it being formulaic, but I don't see how it destroys japanese cinema as we still get fresh jdramas/jmovies today. Did this drama start the job oriented jdramas?
I really like Yamazaki Kento and his acting, but seriously? Another manga adaption? Well I'm still gonna watch…
He's good in Rikuo I hope he do more serious projects like that in the future. The dude is really talented to be just known as king of live actions lol. Gekijou is another promising project.
