why do you guys feel like continuing watching this show despite luan nian being a major red flag coz i see many…
Honestly he’s not really that bad compared to others. It’s just that he can be rash and too blunt at times. I guess most seem to be missing the point that the drama is not about “loving a red flag” but rather how people can change/ you do not have to always tolerate everything just because you love someone? And of course the importance of communication.
I guess you can also add the perils of secret office romances when the power dynamic not equal to the list as well since most of Tao’s insecurities stem from it.
You can be angry and be comforting at the same time. We saw this through Lumi. She was ready to murder that scumbag…
I swear his self control at the office should be studied (considering how impulsive his mouth is) 🙈
I guess the secrecy too plays a part in making things even more frustrating. Imagine not being able to comfort the person you love (Luke) or find comfort from the person you love at any time (Tao) because it can make things complicated in their professional lives?

Damn…Tao really knows how to punch where it hurts when she wants 🙈 It looks like the drama will follow the same events since SYZ has this exhausted aura lately- like he’s just going with the motions 🥲
I do like how the drama makes it clear using both their POVs. In Tao’s case, it’s unfair to lash at her to such an extreme length over something so insignificant whereas from Luke’s end, given the fact that he’s already insecure about not being Tao’s first choice when in trouble, his jealousy while unreasonable is understandable. He’s quite a paradox 🙈
as a non novel reader, I don’t get why luke resigned. he should have protected flora bcs flora still worked…
As much as the company doesn’t trust Luke, he definitely is an asset. The only reason the company stopped harassing Tao and the others was because of his bargaining chip.
Luke’s way of showing support is unconventional but he definitely loves her. If he didn’t do this, they would have made things even more difficult for Tao….even force her into resigning. I guess in a way, this was his way of punishing himself as well? Tao didn’t reach out to him because he was being cornered by HQ at the time and she was afraid she’d make things worse.
In the book, Tao did not go to LN's office after she spoke to Tracy. She asked Tracy if she could leave and got…
He’s definitely just as upset but since there is more context, his explosive reaction kind of makes more sense. I mean in the novel (based on your thread), Luke seems to be completely cut off - even if Tao meant well. Given the state he was in, her silence probably amplified things even more? He even had no idea she had left. Whereas, in the drama Tao did try to reach out to him at the office and he also had a general idea where she was so it was mostly him fighting his inner demons vs. feeling guilty.

Yes he was definitely jealous 🙈
We need more context on how Tao interacted with the ex and flatmate in ep 18 to get a better idea. Is he mad just because they are around her or is it something in particular she did with them that triggered him.
I almost hope it’s the latter so he doesn’t come off as being too unreasonable but the drama might go with the former possibility since they need to build up for the eventual breakup 🙈

Yes he was definitely jealous. TMAI - I love Luke but that mouth will be the death of him and us 🙈

One thing you can guarantee is Luke speaking his mind (but not his heart) 🙈
Yes, the novel version of him through out the scenes you mentioned give better insight to his feels. The fact that he wasn’t reached even once, not even after the email was sent would have hurt him - specially if he knew she had confided with everybody else.

Yeah I agree with what you mean and knowing Luke specially, it’s not that surprising either. But I guess it’s a bit disappointing that he didn’t try to reach out sooner seeing as he saw she was upset when she left. Ep 18’s preview doesn’t help his case either 🙈
I did like how he used himself as the bait to force the company to stop harassing the victims. He knew his worth and used it the best way he can to get what he wanted.

Thanks for the quote! I like the drama’s intepretation of the scene better. Here, Luke’s rage while is still not excusable but makes sense (in his POV) but in the drama, it’s more harsh since Tao did take the first step by coming to his office.
In the novel did she visit Luke as soon as she landed too? Just wandering since, if she did not in the novel, then it’s even worse in the drama since Luke missed the fact that she chose HIM as her safe space instead of flatmates.
The 18th preview make so much sense now, I'm back to supporting SZT lines before the breakup hahha
We really are stuck on a never ending rollercoaster ride eh? I felt so torn this last week since there was so much progress and you can see Luke put enough effort to question those words….but alas his mouth still has a mind of it’s own🙈
Ok ! so I am reading comments and everyone is saying that how the ml is such a red flag and handled whole sexual…
You can be angry and be comforting at the same time. We saw this through Lumi. She was ready to murder that scumbag but that didn’t stop her from comforting Tao in every way posssible. It’s not because they are both women even since we already know that Lumi too has a bit of restless streak in the past. Lumi was also there investigating when the harassment/ Kitty’s SA began but did she confront Tao for not confiding in her? No.
Not saying that Luke sucks but it’s not good to excuse his actions either. It’s human to lose control in such a situation but you can’t just act out your feelings “just because”.
And that’s why he gets his ass dumped eventually.Luke may be raging out of concern but he KNOWS her- the very…
From what I heard, in the novel he ends up shutting himself pretty much completely after he loses both Tao and Luke. His friends refer to him as “an aging monk” several times in the novel in his breakup era. Tao on the other hand rebuilds herself and becomes an entrpreneur.
The only reason she even started to be civil to Luan again 3 years later is because Luke missed him so they had to coparent for a bit. Quite the downfall for a man like him🙈
I recall seeing a comment below complaining that we shouldn’t compare Sang Yan with Luke but unconsciously, the first thing that popped into my mind during Luke’s rant was “Thanks for protecting my A Jiang”
(The quote is from TFF - Sang Yan said this to WYF as soon as he found out the whole truth behind her past trauma/ why she kept pushing him a way- he thanked her for being so brave and protecting herself)
I am very disappointed at Luan Nian. After he knew she got harassed, he questioned her which is fine but why drove…
And that’s why he gets his ass dumped eventually.
Luke may be raging out of concern but he KNOWS her- the very fact that he asked her if she got mad at his teasing in a previous scene shows that he knows how she thinks. Besides, you shouldn’t be confronting even a stranger in that situation the way he did. I hope they don’t rush their break up era. He’s supposed to hurt a lot and drown in regret.
Ep 17 And just like that, the confusion from this week’s lovefest episodes has lifted. The inevitable breakup and Tao’s harsh words from ep 1 makes more sense now. Luke will probably shoot his own foot thanks to his mouth yet again…and by the time he realizes his mistake it will be too late 🥲

I almost don’t want drama Luke to have a similar scene🙈
Edit : Damn this is from the preview?! 🤦♀️ Gosh Luke
