She punished him for his fowl mouth and she did figure out before the interview that he did mean well. It wasn’t out of malice. So there’s no point dragging it further beyond 3 months even after he humbled himself and apologized clearly. Clearly labelling their relationship/ getting rid of the corrupt agents cemented whatever residual hesitation she may have had given how cocky she was towards the end (for her standards).
From Tao’s side, we can see that she’s more fierce now. She’s not as hesitant to talk back at Luke as she used to- even teases him about Alex (ep 15 trailer).
