I agree! It was interesting to watch, but I prefer cocky Iwanaga :D
Yesss! It felt so strange to see him be so hesitant for a change 🙈

Miyata on the other hand handled Hibino wayyy better than I expected🤭

I do love how this makes so much sense in retrospect since he too looked surprised to see her in the elevator…
I couldn't resist🙈

It was soooo sooo good!!! Way better than I expected considering they only had 3 episodes to cover everything❤️❤️❤️

I really liked the fact that they didn't try to villainize Tao or Luke and both acknowledged their short comings. And Tao's parents?!?! They were awesome 🤣🤣🤣

I honestly didn't expect them to pull off the museum proposal but I loved it❤️

Thanks for sharing your experience with the novel! It really helped fill in the potential gaps. It was fun disecting the drama 🤩

I am avoiding X like the plague 😅

MDL is surprisingly very tame. May be it's because I read their reunion chapters, it doesn't feel thaaat spoilery.

Luke from ep 20 (barely a few months before ep 21’s events) accused Tao that she wanted to look for other men…
I get what you mean. After watching ep 19, even I was skeptical how they could go with the novel break up. 🙈

Ep 20's outburst helped me digest todays reaction or else it would have felt so forced. Specially since we know that Luke was already aware that the non-promotion could potentially affect their relationship.

The main issue with Luke's mouth from what I noticed is he hardly ever says what he means once he loses control of his emotions. His sarcastic side takes over. Because he's known for being blunt, when the truth gets mixed with his hurt false words, for someone like Tao, it's difficult to identify which parts should be trusted.

He also said he could separate work and his private life. Logically this could be misunderstood as "I like you but Lime needs ths 250MN account. You can try next time. This is just another promotion."

We as the audience knows that he went over and beyond to try to protect her but she doesn't know anything about this or even about the blackmail. So even if his reaction looks strange to us, it makes sense when you look at it broadly.
(It's just my opinion though- not sure if I missed anything 🙈)

The breakup is badly constructed. Maybe the Luke of ep1 would have reacted like this and talked to her like this,…
Luke from ep 20 (barely a few months before ep 21’s events) accused Tao that she wanted to look for other men while dating him just because he saw them CRYING and hugging in the distance. He didn’t even give her a chance to explain first.
So is it really that surprising he couldn’t control his anger this time either?

PS: I’m not hating on him - it was always established that Luke cannot control his emotions when he gets angry or hurt. It’s not just with Tao but everybody since he was a kid.

Old habits cannot be broken easily just because you are in love without years of hard work. Luke was improving but at that point he was still a work-in-progress.

No I mean between his death and the Award ceremony there was a gap of at least a week - month or so. By the date of the award ceremony she was more herself, but what about the initial days after SYZ died? Since the drama chose to keep Luke in the dark😅

The only logical explanation I could think of why drama Luke had no idea (not even an inkling that something terrible has happened) is because SYZ passed away while Luke was on a long business trip and by the time he came back, Tao was better at controlling her grief. It would explain why he wouldn’t have found it odd that she took any leave/ why her vibe was different. It seems they might explain this later in ep 22-24 based on the wisps of spoilers I’ve read so far.

Not really. Priority is for the domestic audience. It’s the same with other countries as well. It probably is a universal agreement with most streamliners since I’d noticed this with Disney+ and Prime as well in the past with J/K dramas.

Tracy didn’t care. She ensured Yilia got it.
She does care. It was a difficult decision but there wasn’t much they could do. Even if Luke’s suggestion with the US transfer had worked, there was no guarantee that they could win/ Tao wouldn’t be affected.

That being said, they should have let Tao know so she could have prepared/ make her own decision.

Ep 21 at the 26:34 time stamp......She forgot to take her small white suitcase with her when she walked out of…
Luke probably left it outside 🙈
It’s kind of believable from her POV too since Luke the dog cannot find and operate an elavator on his own 🙈

I really wish if we had more episodes available so they could have fleshed out her grief/ Luke’s involvement.

For instance, if you didn’t tell me what happened in the novel, I would have continued to assume that she wasn’t in the right place yet to talk about his death - specially with Luke given all their past arguements about her closeness with SYZ. But at the same time, this makes Luke seem questionable since why wouldn’t he notice Tao’s sadness.

I honestly don’t get why we even need to pick a side between Luke and Tao. They both are responsible for the downfall of their relationship.

I don't know what to say. I don't know why Luke didn't warn her about the decision. I know he wanted her to have…
Honestly i wouldn’t be surprised if Yilia knew about the blackmailing. The way she looked when she mentioned Tao’s name during her speech looked so sly.

I guess may be it would have taken too long to include the corruption arc, they went for a more classic cdrama approach? In a way this version is more in line with drama Luke and Tao? Luke tries to do the ultimate sacrifice by taking a role he didn’t want to/ even consider resigning to protect Tao but yet again Tao is unaware about the depths of his resolve to protect her and her career. We also know that Lime has some questionable heads involved, so pushing Tao’s genuine effort away for $$$$ sounds very realistic as well AND justifies why Tao was so heartbroken. Even the company she trusted to treat her as an equal failed her regardless of Luke’s involvement. It’s even more humiliating because everybody - even Kitty - expected her to win.

Tao not telling Luke - yes, I agree with you. It makes sense.

I’m afraid the users might turn against him because he said that his GF could have been anybody but the good thing is since we have express out, those who get to watch it will not have enough time to marinate in their hate. There’s also users who will turn against Tao for blaming him for the score without asking him about it.

Him not telling her - I guess he didn’t want to make that gamble/ force her to choose? He still has insecurities so perhaps he really believed that if Tao knew that their relationship was the only reason why they cannot try to stop Yilia’s application, she might break up with him? Specially since it hadn’t been that long since their last fight?

I’m actually surprised they added the hug. Wasn’t Luke supposed to regret not hugging her at that point after the breakup?🙈

It was blackmail. If you ignore the novel and go with a typical cdrama, the blackmail wouldn’t be really that unusual. Tao’s biggest fear was that their secret relationship would affect her career. Bringing it to life would be the right direction. I just wish if Tracy wasn’t sooo corporate about it though. I get why she kept pushing Luke to agree but it doesn’t feel like the Tracy we know. Was there a reason why they couldn’t go with the novel’s version?

Tao not telling Luke - do we know how long has it been since SYZ passed away? If it’s been barely a month, it’s possible that Tao wasn’t ready to talk about it given how SYZ has been an uncomfortable topic between them? But then, why didn’t Luke notice she was grieving?

The NF calendar looks so depressing since users have already started to leave reviews 🙈

I AM SO BOTHERED BY THE LUGGAGE THAT FLORA LEFT AT LUKE'S PLACESo bothered I had to type in all caps sorry
It’s probably 🐶Luke’s travel case - that’s the only explanation🙈

I thought it was an editing issue at first but it’s odd that they just completely forgot about the case after that

I don't know what to say. I don't know why Luke didn't warn her about the decision. I know he wanted her to have…
It’s most likely because the drama wanted to use “ disgusting, dirty, and ugly” all along (most of the viewers remained for so long was also because they wanted to know WHY) but it didn’t fit into the current narrative. One of the main recurring issues was that Luke didn’t trust Tao. So using his silence/ lack of warning, was yet another way for Tao to interpret that Luke didn’t have faith in her to stay composed if she found out what happened before the event?

I didn’t expect them to bring blackmailing into the picture ngl. In the novel, was there an explanation why there was corruption behind the voting? Also IDK if I missed it, but was there a large gap between SYZ’s death and the award ceremony? It seemed odd that Luke wasn’t aware of his death. I mean since they did make up before his death/ he wasn’t traveling (as far as I am aware), it would be extremely odd for him to not notice that she was so sad even if she didn’t tell him?

Tao not telling him while also is kind of odd, I guess since SYZ was always an uncomfortable topic between them, she just couldn’t bring herself to tell him about it since she wasn’t ready to talk about it? That’s why I’m curious to know about the duration🙊

Ohhhh so we will not be getting the part where Tao asked if he was satisfied now that SYZ is dead right?

I am so conflicted about this change ngl. If they added the scene, then it's a huge plus point for Luke but by not adding the scene, Tao's character gets a break (you know how users would tear her apart for being cruel towards Luke🙈)
