Sawamura is such an incredible actor. He fits this character perfectly and keeps you in suspense the entire time.…
Honestly since the beginning of the drama I couldn’t help wandering why he kept smiling so much -to the point that I lowkey thought the actor might be still a novice because it was kind of obvious the smile felt fake (even for someone who was hiding his past)? But the way today’s episode tied this concern with Himari’s question “why are you smiling?” felt so satisfying! He really did a great job🙈

Exactly! He was good in Anpann too - rather memorable despite how short his screen time was and the fact that he was the love rival again in a different sense

From what I’ve read, DV is a bit of a gray subject legally speaking in S.Korea so given the father’s position, I wouldn’t be surprised if things got worse if Soo Bin tried to take action against his father.

Also I think it’s within WSB’s nature. Even with the movie and JYJ, he only contacted her AFTER he became a critically acclaimed director “strong” enough to make their dream come true. So it’s likely, he isn’t still mentally prepared to stand up to his father to such an extent yet? Side effects of growing up in an abusive household 🥲

Considering this has 12 eps, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to cut the scene and leave it to the viewers' imagination 🙃

I just hope the curse of 12 won't hit them. Based on the story, ideally it should be enough but who knows right?🙈

Title Dream to You
Can anybody tell me a reason why they're watching this? I want to start it, but I'm a bit unsure.
If you are into Cdramas with romance/youth firstlove angst/ second chance, you might like this. It kind of reminds me of a less dark version of The First Frost? If you are familiar with the story.

There are 3 couples. The way they handle the 3 couples also low key remind me of cdramas more than kdramas TBH.

So far I'm enjoying it. The way the camera zooms in/out at times might be a bit mockumentary/ reality tv styled (interesting director's choice i suppose) but you kind of get used to it eventually- at least in my case.

The cast is good

Title Dream to You Spoiler
I didn't get it, did his father beat his mom and the girl who was crippled was FL , how did she became that ,…
They are only indirectly related.

The father was very abusive towards the ML when he was a kid and even went so far as to beat his mother as a way to punish the ML because he was "flawed".

The father wanted him to be a doctor but after he met the FL, he fell in love with filming and her passion inspired him to ditch his father's version of a perfect son so he can be co- film directors with the FL someday.

However before their senior year in high school ended, the father manages to break the ML's spirit by locking him up for an extended period of time and beating his mum. Extremely depressed, the ML ends up breaking up with the FL and ends his plans with her.

Unfortunately, the FL truly believed he would change his mind and so she kept waiting for him to join her for an important college interview and this indirectly caused her to meet with a life threatening accident that nearly killed her, comatosed for 6+months, and left her with life changing injuries to her leg (she isn't crippled but she no longer can move the way she used to).

Because the FL was injured while waiting for the ML to come back, most blame him and that's why her mother attacked the ML's father in ep 5's flashback out of grief. I personally think it's unfair to blame him when he clearly told her that he wasn't coming but that's a different topic all together 🙈

After 10 years or so later, it is revealed that the ML had no idea what happened to the FL after breaking up with her since he left to the US shortly after breaking up with her. He eventually cuts ties with his father and becomes a globally acclaimed film director. The story begins with him coming back to South Korea to reclaim what he lost with the FL and to achieve their dream of being co-directors again since now he is successful, they should be able to beat most obstacles.

I can't recall the exact details now but after the "hey baby" call, did she think the call was real?

The timing of the call was a tad too obvious that he was trying to tactfully reject her to an impartial observer but I can't remember if she took it seriously.🤔

Why are K-drama dads who happen to be doctors always the WORST fathers? 😭
Generational trauma? They had shitty tiger parents forcing them to be doctors so they are just passing the PTSD torch to thair kids and family?😅😅😅

Hope the ML doesn't die ,need to wait for a week to know
I don’t think he’s dead. If he really died, then his apparition’s white tee should have been visible.

The fact that they conveniently buttoned up his shirt and had his fringe cover his forehead kind of implies it’s the real him. Also the teaser was too evasive about his funeral. If he really died, there would have been at least some kind of hint about his funeral/ grandmother’s reaction at least.

It’s great that they didn’t choose the long exhausted toxic parent trope 🙈
She was wrong for being clueless but at least she didn’t even hesitate for a second to change her ways once she found out the truth.

i have a genuine question. how is he so lovey dovey when he just came back after 15 years? and it was such a bad…
They were starcrossed. He was forced to let her go. And now that he's a celebrated director, he is hell bent on making their youthful dream come true finally.

Basically while they were apart, all his actions were motivated on this moment. To make sure he can reunite with her and make their movie together. He probably took so long to reach out because he didn't want to disappoint her again with a half baked promise?

From the FL's end, she hates his guts since he pretty much abandoned her and their dream but now that she knows WHY he did what he did back then, she's clinging on to her past hate to protect herself, but she can't help falling for him again since he seems sincere and truly regrets the past

Even I didn’t have high expectations…specially this high but it really was worth it🙈

I just love their chemistry. ZJY is absolutely stunning and even SWL was really great in this (I mean I loved his character from Shine on Me eventhough at times it felt there was more scope to act certain scenes, but he seriously ate Chen Yi ‘s character.

Honestly hope they collaborate again someday🤞

PS: If you haven’t already, give Never Ending Summer a chance. It’s really good too IMO!

i don't know what they are goona show for justifying that male lead action bcz he is worst person they need to…
They explained it in ep 2-3 already. [⚠️Spoilers ahead if you have not watched⚠️]

It was unfortunate but in the end it was Ju I Jae’s choice to leave the bus that night. From Woo Soo Bin’s end his abusive father literally locked him up and if he defied him, his mother would have probably paid the price. He could have been less of a jerk to her when he ended things but given what he was going through at the time, at least he was direct about his intentions. He didn’t tell her that he will be joining her that night.

In the end it’s nobody’s fault - it was just unfortunate timing.

Episode 4 was so good. The chemistry between the main leads was amazing, and the supporting characters were great…
Kdramas and toxic parents go hand in hand 🥲

Honestly the only parent that makes even remote sense is the FL’s mum since even when she was a kid they were struggling financially and I’m guessing after the accident things got even worse -probably the real reason why the FL couldn’t pursuit her dream even after recovering. In such an environment, it probably is difficult to support a risky dream like being a director. I hope her mum will eventually trust her ability at least.🙈
