I feel like the key to understand how Lin felt back then about XG is in the way how he reacted when he first met ZX at the Job expo. Lin’s immediate reaction as soon as he heard where ZX was going to work was to try to find out (not so subtly) if ZX and XG were a couple. You can almost taste his envy 🙈

It’s like he resents her for leaving him hanging but he still can’t let go of her. I’m almost certain if XG didn’t bluntly tell him that she didn’t know him when they first met, he might have been less harsh/ more subtle.

Haha you are lucky you at least can watch IQIYI on a big screen! I can only imagine how vibrant the cinematography is 🙈

I feel like after we got to know about the Shengs, Lin’s perspective makes more sense. The last 2 years after the accident made him feel like he was trapped in a bitter void.

Right before his uni entrance exams, he found out the truth behind his father’s death and also saw the ugliness behind the Shengs façade. After years of training to be a surgeon, he finally found a way to let go of his anger and pain but then right when things were close to becoming perfect he lost everything AGAIN. That’s why he kind of turned into a shark of sorts- hungry to win the Sheng’s top position (thereby avenging his father’s unjust death) and reunite with XG so he can finally get closure. When XG didn’t recognize him, his “bitter persona” got amplified.

They might update it eventually seeing as Viki is so popular!

I recall seeing a comment from a novel reader that XG’s father kept trying to win back XG and her mom’s trust but failed since they wouldn’t give him a second chance.

My guess is just like with the divorce, he didn’t expect her mum to let go off the shares so easily. The mum benefits from the dividends earned from her YC shares so now he doesn’t even have that illusion of control.

TBF ZX isn't that bad at his office. Chris is in love with the idea of ZX. Even with his interactions with Lin, all she saw was 2 polite adults. With XG, he simply distances himself.

I honestly half expected him to lash out at Chris so she could finally see his insecure side but surprisingly he managed to stay in control😅

I am curious to see what will happen to the mum - daughter duo ngl. It’s clear the daughter will be scammed and Nie is headed for either bankruptcy or an embolism the way he keeps clutching his head 🙈 The mum has already had a slice of humble pie finally realizing she made a huge mistake shacking up with Nie. But will she cut her losses before it’s too late? Or will she go down with the ship? She seems shrewd enough to know when to stop but who knows 🙈
