Duke Su was probably bothered JL got hurt and possibly realized he went overboard by putting her life at risk and was wondering to himself why he was having this irking feeling if she was not seeing him in a good light. 😛

The Princess seemingly has the backing and control/support of PM Li who yields a lot of power in court. She also openly reminded the Emperor that his current power/throne is as a result of her sacrifice as a hostage princess.

It's a first time I see such a big production of pearl studs on the face. Ears and foreheads, yes; but not full cheekbones and dimples. It may be a traditional fashion but never seen it at this capacity in cdrama. Pearls have always been viewed as immense wealth and elite status in Chinese historical culture. Traditionally, it would be pearl necklace, hairpin, headwear, and later bracelet, ring, and such.

The purpose was to put on an appearance of letting his guard down so that the assassinators wouldn't be as prepared, thinking that it was a good opportunity to attack when he was awaiting their moves. He used her by putting her life at risk and not telling her that it was to draw the assassinators out.

No, if you hate identity swap, cannot tolerate injustice and immense sadness, psychopathic tendencies in antagonists, unnecessary cruelty towards relatives. I hate sad endings and horror shows, so I don't watch those. Although, I have to say the drama is really good and the lead couple has very good chemistry.

I didn't read the novel. But from the comments on this forum, I saw some comments that this story is their least favorite of the author's works, not that they don't like the novel at all.

I also thought of Zhao Min and and Wu Ji 3 wishes deal. Don't think Duke Su's last request would be to darken JL's eyebrows. =)

If we're talking about ep 14, I don't think he enjoyed being with her Princess at all. It's all an act on his part to stay alive and save his family. Some of the stuffs he said to calm the princess down was also to deflect her ire off FL.

I'm not a braindead one, but we can see how FL could be moved or her interests piqued by ML's strength and resolve for justice. He's definitely not a coward in dealing with difficult character like the Princess which FL had witnessed in how he controlled the situation. Her ex-husband was a weakling and not loyal, and she could see that ML is the opposite of the ex. We're not talking about instant falling head over heel on her part. We're just swooned by the couple because they have great on screen chemistry even though nothing is happening between them, but the under current tension is clearly obvious.

I'm really glad that Duke Su and the Emperor have a tight relationship and they have full trust in each other. Duke Su actually smiled when he was talking to the Emperor in ep 14!
