The relationship between FL's father and the Law firm CEO still a mystery, they kind of left it off in the first…
I suspect they were college classmates in law school, and maybe they even had feelings for each other but life got in the way. I’m rooting for them because FL’s father deserves happiness , too.
The grand opening of Yong'an Restaurant was soooo good. I was so proud of our ladies and everything they've achieved…
I love He Si as part of the performing troupe. It’s so amazing to add this. Of course, in historical time, men did play women’s roles on the stage, and that’s why the 12 scholars in the audience weren’t negatively surprised or off-put by it. What’s awesome is that the director/producer went with this idea and it worked out fabulously with great humor.
Really don't want to insult anybody, but a serious question - can an autist be an attorney? Are there any irl?…
She's a savant. She could be on the spectrum/autistic, but has certain abilities that exceed the average people. In her case, she obviously has great memory and perhaps analytical skills as well. There are some well known savants who are musicians.
I wasn't planning to leave a comment here since everyone has already spoken my exact feelings and thoughts, but…
The drama has been so satisfying so far that at this point I don’t even care what happens the second half of the show. I just leave everything in the director and scriptwriter’s hands to do us all right. I can only compare the experience as going to a favorite sushi bar and order the omakase — I don’t know what will be served, but I’d love it because I trust their skills and knowledge!!

He’s been told by his uncle Qi that Lei Jing and Duke Xiao are villains and must be brought to justice. So he…
So far, Lei Jing is indeed a villain and ML finally has enough dirt on him to bring him down. I feel ML continues to stay undercover that long because he’s confirmed through investigations that Lei Jing is truly bad. So, it makes sense he continues to help uncle Qi. However, more recently, Uncle Qi seems to shift gear and shows his true intention, and that is to bring down Duke Xiao. Not all truths are shown to us viewers about Duke Xiao, but we can see that ML wavers and looks uncomfortable a few times when Uncle Qi mentions incriminating the Duke, almost as if ML doesn’t want to do it. I think he’s beginning to have doubts about helping Uncle Qi bringing the Duke down. There’s a foreshadowing scene where he pushes Uncle Qi out of the way to chase after the Duke in desperation, to not leave him. ML is probably aware he’s Uncle Qi’s sharp sword. I feel more will be revealed later and ML will mend his relationship with his father,
Just re-watched eoisode 12 again. Why is our ML working as an undercover man for his uncle ?
He’s been told by his uncle Qi that Lei Jing and Duke Xiao are villains and must be brought to justice. So he agreed to work as an undercover as Lei Jing’s underling for 10 years, to collect evidences to bring him down. He’s probably been persuaded by Uncle Qi that in order for him to get to Fifth Rank level officer, he would need to bring down high level villains/court officials. ML wants to give his late aunt a proper burial ceremony that is only possible if he’s a Fifth Rank officer.
Pan’ er is 24. How old exactly is GQF? I don’t remember if it was mentioned before. I would estimate him as between 27-32, but I would most likely place him at 28. He’s been with the Capital Security for 10 years, assuming he started services at 18, hence 28.
EDIT POST/Add On below:
GQF is most likely 28. I just remember his conversation with the Duke, who praised his intelligence for passing the court exam at 18, at a younger age than the Duke. He then went to work for the Capital security instead of taking an officer position.
Ok, so this would bring us to the next point. Pan’ er isn’t his intended set by his grandfather. If he were 18, then Pan’er was 14. Her family had already been stripped of their title then and she’d been living in the brothel between 9-16. Her family wouldn’t have cancel the betrothal because he joined the Capital security services. If they were intended, then I guess that’s a loophole. Any thoughts?!
AND more power to women collaborating behind the camera!
It’s just so satisfying to watch her works her magic -both as Pan’er and LYF.
But for the sake of this story, I don’t think GQF is 24 either. 😀
