They should have engaged for a moment! IMO that needed to happen to sell the scene, which moved on too quickly to the Christmas tree. Lame.

We misunderstood the meaning of the comment but then got the meaning after it was clarified, which was nice. The best solution to imperfect speech is more speech, not censorship. This is true both for anyone seeking to understand of what another meant and for anyone seeking to improve their understanding of English.
