I was so looking forward to how the drama will execute that scene because the novel described so well how broken…
I had the same thoughts, even if they are friendly and respect each other, their world is chaotic. It is indeed too good to be true.
It doesn't make sense that the ml still doesn't know or at least suspicious of who fl is. I don't mean that in a bad way but since he has fountain abode and always one step ahead, its quite unbelievable that there isn't any intel about the person closest to him. Even YWY already knows.
And even if he is just playing it cool, there should be an indication about it like how readers felt in the novel even when it wasn't clearly stated.

Yeah esp. from one medium to another, its not going to be perfect. Like transposing from one instrument to another. It can play the same note but not produce the same sound. As long as I hear the same tune I'm ready to give it a perfect score.
I was so looking forward to how the drama will execute that scene because the novel described so well how broken…
I agree with all those points. Afterall it's "adapted from" not just "based on".
But some users here seem to be hostile to some novel readers. Not having expectations is like saying the drama will never be as good as the novel. But me having hopes this whole time actually means I did gave the drama a chance to live up to the novel.
So true with the ooc. It was so unlike fl to not head straight home the moment she heard Qingzhou was in trouble, but instead was more concerned with Yongzhou's affairs.
Yes it could've been a masterpiece. It could've also showed viewers who didn't read the novel how well written the fl is. If they think the fl here is already good, how much more if her story and character is showcased well. Instead they got into a controversy because of the palace stuff. No wonder the author had to defend her work.
I do still enjoy it or else I won't be here anymore. But it doesn't mean I will only sing it praises and not express other thoughts.
I was so looking forward to how the drama will execute that scene because the novel described so well how broken…
I actually already expected for ml's part to be bigger, but I still hoped it'd be at least balanced, instead of fl's story being rushed in the last week.
Thanks for understanding~~~ I actually don't care much about the drama within the drama. It doesn't affect my judgement. I gave this a 9 from the pilot week alone, it was that good. And was ready to give my first 10 if the drama move me the way the novel did. Let's see how they wrap this up next week.

Yes, but fl doesn't have special relationship with fengyun generals here so even if she did lose some of them the emotions won't be the same.
It will indeed be sad for her when her brother (and maybe HP) dies. But my point is the dynamics, she won't have anyone left to say the line I was talking about. Compared to the remaining generals whom the line was directed to.
The scene inside the tent.. when she was in between the 2 coffins.. the three lines she told the remaining generals.. specifically the last one.. I had to pause reading for a while. That's how much it moved me.
Yes, it was RCY's influence but the decision was ultimately ml's. The fl had murderous intent towards him, and he himself wondered if he'll ever have the chance to be forgiven. It gave readers good angst. But that wasn't my point since ml here is a saint and its clear that there's no ambiguity between him and fl. Its all about the conflicting emotions of fl in that scene that I was looking forward to ZLS acting it.

No, the kiss was referring to your question about YYZ, not one of her generals. 😅 I included it since emotions were involved when they met again because he was her first love.
It wasn't just one battle in the novel. Her fengyun army and generals were with her all the way. And even though they are less in number compared to other army, fl was a good strategist. Her men was loyal to her not just because of responsibility but they genuinely admire her.
Yep, and now I know why the author said that. She already knew some fans of her female centered novel will have disappointments with the drama so she gave bandaid in advance.
For sure, but I judge/rate a drama by itself not by comparing it to others. To think it started so well, one of the best pilot week in cdramaland but its going to be rushed as hell next week.
I was so looking forward to how the drama will execute that scene because the novel described so well how broken…
The death of some of her beloved generals because of ml. One of whom gave his all protecting her. She didn't have family in the novel, her generals were the closest to her.
In the novel the events in ep 1 (+ a kiss/loveline) did happen, but he is revealed to still be alive later on and fl meets him again on the battlefield.
I was so looking forward to how the drama will execute that scene because the novel described so well how broken…
Its an adaptation longer than its a separate thing. Good for you, but I'm allowed to express my thoughts on what could've been a really good scene to showcase fl's acting.
It just dawned on me that I'm really not getting my favorite scene where fl uttered the only line in the entire…
I was so looking forward to how the drama will execute that scene because the novel described so well how broken she was. It would've been a good opportunity to see ZLS go mad with the anger, the pain, the fear, and then pulling herself up and getting her sh*t together. I was thinking all the hate would be worth it, but nvm.
Same sentiments. I felt like ZLS was in a support role. She’s the FL but she doesn’t have enough screen time…
Someone had to cut the number of eps down to 40 and reallly thought the maid and teacher scenes were more important. Even FQW has better upgrade from the novel.
As a standalone it definitely isn't bad despite the loopholes like you said, but as an adaptation could've been better esp. justice with fl's character. She really went from main character to just love interest at some point. And her story is gonna be rushed as hell next week.
That's nice, while I'm the opposite. When it started all my attention was on it, the pilot week was so good. One of the best in cdramaland. But halfway through with palace scheming getting repetitive/predictable and less fl screentime, other dramas took my attention.
31-34/40 I expected a good redemption/twist for king Yong (since he's alive in the romance trailer) but, that's…
I didn't have time to be emotional during BFHX's heart wrenching scene and couldn't appreciate the strong women/girlfriends taking down an entire army because it was too quick.
LH really went full psycho, from "shijie~ shijie~" to "die b*tch!" then back to "shijie~ shijie~" again. And she's the next leader? That sect is doomed. Even HP is more reasonable. Hard to believe she won't backstab (literally) BFX again in the future.
The confession was good, but what's up with that kiss. Inserting the previous one that wasn't even real was distracting. Its as if they don't want to show the full kiss. Hmm.. watch them zoom out/wide shot the wedding kiss too.
31-34/40 I expected a good redemption/twist for king Yong (since he's alive in the romance trailer) but, that's it..? And I'm supposed to believe he's now suddenly a good father...
But yas FJ go off! spit those facts. Didn't think an ep. would come that I'd cheer for him. The drama really is "Who Rules Yongzhou". Wasted precious time just to get into a controversy. Qingzhou feels like an extra on the last week. And its so unlike fl to not head straight home when she heard trouble, instead more concerned with Yongzhou.
Everything happened so fast. I couldn't get into the important scenes.
BFHX 's scenes were also not as exciting since they're already together so there's no "realization" with runaway…
I'm glad she wasn't upset with ml's deceiving but scheming back instead.
lol at 'not making him that smart' but its true. Its what Fountain Abode is supposed to do yet they don't have intel on the person closest to their boss.
27-30/40 The contrast between fl's father and ml's father..I initially thought BL would be the annoying character…
BFHX 's scenes were also not as exciting since they're already together so there's no "realization" with runaway groom.
But good that they made HCR strong mentally and emotionally since they made BFX deceive her. I like her. The drama actually making me root for her and HC to get the world.
And doesn't make sense that ml still doesn't know fl when even YWY already know.
27-30/40 The contrast between fl's father and ml's father.. I initially thought BL would be the annoying character but turns out to be king Yong. FJ is indeed their offspring.
Everything is rushed in Youzhou. I didn't feel as invested watching esp. since BFX is not her carefree self.
First impression, its good and I already have sls. The 2ml is seriously a dream.
I haven't seen the original or any of the vers. and I'd keep it that way since I'm watching another drama based on a source material that I'm familiar with and had me disappointed. So I'll watch this fresh and judge as a standalone.
Overall, I enjoyed the pilot week. Looking forward to the next eps.
The Jizhou general that fl helped during the 1st ep.
In the drama he didn't have a loveline with fl but in the novel they had one.
He used to be up in the cast/credits list, but now he's all the way down at the very end, below the costume designer.
