Someone had to cut the number of eps down to 40 and reallly thought the maid and teacher scenes were more important. Even FQW has better upgrade from the novel.

As a standalone it definitely isn't bad despite the loopholes like you said, but as an adaptation could've been better esp. justice with fl's character. She really went from main character to just love interest at some point. And her story is gonna be rushed as hell next week.

That's nice, while I'm the opposite. When it started all my attention was on it, the pilot week was so good. One of the best in cdramaland. But halfway through with palace scheming getting repetitive/predictable and less fl screentime, other dramas took my attention.

I didn't have time to be emotional during BFHX's heart wrenching scene and couldn't appreciate the strong women/girlfriends taking down an entire army because it was too quick.

LH really went full psycho, from "shijie~ shijie~" to "die b*tch!" then back to "shijie~ shijie~" again. And she's the next leader? That sect is doomed. Even HP is more reasonable. Hard to believe she won't backstab (literally) BFX again in the future.

The confession was good, but what's up with that kiss. Inserting the previous one that wasn't even real was distracting. Its as if they don't want to show the full kiss. Hmm.. watch them zoom out/wide shot the wedding kiss too.

31-34/40 I expected a good redemption/twist for king Yong (since he's alive in the romance trailer) but, that's it..? And I'm supposed to believe he's now suddenly a good father...

But yas FJ go off! spit those facts. Didn't think an ep. would come that I'd cheer for him.
The drama really is "Who Rules Yongzhou". Wasted precious time just to get into a controversy. Qingzhou feels like an extra on the last week. And its so unlike fl to not head straight home when she heard trouble, instead more concerned with Yongzhou.

Everything happened so fast. I couldn't get into the important scenes.

I agree. She'd make a good empress with those qualities.

I'm glad she wasn't upset with ml's deceiving but scheming back instead.

lol at 'not making him that smart' but its true. Its what Fountain Abode is supposed to do yet they don't have intel on the person closest to their boss.

BFHX 's scenes were also not as exciting since they're already together so there's no "realization" with runaway groom.

But good that they made HCR strong mentally and emotionally since they made BFX deceive her. I like her. The drama actually making me root for her and HC to get the world.

And doesn't make sense that ml still doesn't know fl when even YWY already know.

27-30/40 The contrast between fl's father and ml's father..
I initially thought BL would be the annoying character but turns out to be king Yong. FJ is indeed their offspring.

Everything is rushed in Youzhou. I didn't feel as invested watching esp. since BFX is not her carefree self.

First impression, its good and I already have sls. The 2ml is seriously a dream.

I haven't seen the original or any of the vers. and I'd keep it that way since I'm watching another drama based on a source material that I'm familiar with and had me disappointed. So I'll watch this fresh and judge as a standalone.

Overall, I enjoyed the pilot week. Looking forward to the next eps.

Just like the user above said, he dealt with them quickly. Here in the drama he plays by the book.

That reuter with laughing ZLS, YY and one who I thought was LY (HC). But it turns out its the actor of Xieyue, Xiyun's brother.

Yeah, how are they going to fit everything esp. fl's story with only a few eps left without being rushed. All the deaths around her won't have the same impact and viewers won't have time to process because it'll be straight to war (still about ml) as climax. Then the end.

The novel was good its hard to just treat the drama as standalone. It started so well too so I expected for it to be balanced. I'm trying to still enjoy but how they show fl's story will be a huge factor on my final rating.

It's still Yongzhou arc.

But it was nice to see inlove/jelly ml than the usual emo ml in court. And he really risked offending the heir of Qingzhou for BFX.

Though the most shocking thing to me isn't about the drama. Its the reuter, it was XY not HC...

26/40 Only 2 weeks left and we're still in Yongzhou. I don't expect ml to deal with his fam the way he did in the novel since he's too nice here. There's also stuff in Jizhou and Youzhou/HCR arc just started..

I guess I should lower my already low expectations for a FXY/Qingzhou focus ep (not even sure if I can add 's' to that). And it'd be nice to see more of Qing siblings since there's no generals.

FLX being confident that BFX is jelly, then ZL and his romance novels adding fuel to that fire. lol But when its his turn to be jelly, his expressions and timing whenever Yun praises/looks/smiles at Yue is so funny. ZL too is confused. lol

25/40 BFX being suspicious of FLX being overly nice. lol

I guess we're really not getting JW. So we're also not getting that scene of BFX warning HFX. Her generals too..

Exactly! He threatened YWY about it but gifted one himself. Like, he could've chosen other rewards or simply just money so it won't cause any misunderstandings.
Even ZL's precious romance novels referenced it. lol

But I also see the teacher's pov, afterall I already expected him to be the RCY from the novel with how pro-FQW he was.

Good that ml got rid of the maid instead of giving her another chance just because of history. Avoid future problems, and maybe don't gift hairpins to other ladies.

I guess they really flipped the roles from the novel. Its HFX's story and BFX is the one tagging along to him here. But at least she has better screentime here than previous eps.

23-24/40 I expected nothing less of BFX. Standing up for herself and dealing with the issue without asking or running to ml or her shifu, while still being reasonable the whole time.
At least the drama gave her that.

Oh no.. not ready for that yet (hence I'll continue the rest tomorrow instead) after waiting so long for this..

Ikr, I'm just taking this ep as a teaser and looking forward to that actual "it".
