if they wanted to depict heavy ass topics such as grooming and ptsd, i just feel like 15 min episodes arent the way to do it bc they have to rush so many plotlines that it goes over the audience's head, which explains why so many people arent even understanding the grooming that occurred
it was cute, but not the right format for such angsty topics
after reading some of these comments i was kinda hesitant to start this one but i needed something fluffy to watch after work and decided this fit the bill and i was actually pleasantly surprised. the plot and story isnt anything new or special but the characters themselves were great! no toxic tropes, no annoying cliches, no bitchy exes - just top tier communication, healthy relationships and really solid friendships! a lot more than what i was expecting tbh! i proper enjoyed it despite its flaws!
the tension was so damn palpable between the leads and their acting was superrrbbb - especially in episode 8... that whole episode honestly felt like someone was blowing up a balloon until it popped i was at the edge of my seat
i fully enjoyed the psychological aspects and hope to see a season 2 since i know the manga isn't completed yet
first 4 episodes were alright but not really too engaging - just aoyama listening to people trauma dump and offering a few words here n there but the last 4 episodes were pretty good since we actually get his backstory and some decent plot.
overall i wasn't too much of a fan on the inconsistency of the show but i reckon the last few episodes, especially 4, 5 and 6 saved it
do not underestimate this series. although it seems like a cut yet basic story in the first few eps, it progresses into one of the best BLs I've seen. This show had me laughing and crying like crazy and even though i only wanted to watch a few episodes, before i knew it, it was bloody 5am and i had binged the whole thing...geeeezz (no regrets thoooo)
the acting is superbbbbbbbb by the main 3, especially by Nikko and Justine's actors in the latter portion of the episodes...i really was not expecting the story to progress like that - i can honestly say it rocked my shit
anyways, watch the damn thing if u want to experience possibly the most genuine and sincere BL of this year so far (and yes its stylisation is similar to Heartstopper but ain't nothing wrong wit that - it does it well and maintains its own uniqueness)
its a decent show that takes itself seriously but its not that engaging and the leads' relationship feels so empty - like they have an alright friendship but they suddenly go from strangers to besties (kinda) and then the scenes after that are just awkward stares n smiles
even the villains were a bit underwhelming to me, infact their motives pissed me off a bit lmao
and the ending???? oh man, i was maaaaddddd - but overall its decent - something you watch once and go "yeah, that was pretty alright"
plot and storytelling was soooo good! i didnt expect much but i was so pleasantly surprised at this lil gem!! i love the historical fantasy take of the good ol 'pouring your heart out to the bartender' trope, that was done in such a unique way that really made the show shine...and all the stories were so interesting !!! the main characters' chemistry and banter really solidify this show as a nice, easy watch that satisfies your bromance needs
i would loooooooveeee to see this as a donghua - that'd be so fkn dope
Shi Guang's little giggle is sooooooo cuuuuuteeeeee !!!! i love how this drama emphasises friendship and how it plays such an important part in our lives, giving us support and guidance when we need it most. Chu Ying was such a cutie too and i adored their relationship, which i thought was nicely mirrored by Yu Liang & Fang Xu , which i also adorrreedd!
overall this show is one of the best there is about friendship & growing up - once you finish it, you're guaranteed to be sad to part with it and all the characters
even though you lose track of how the characters are connected and the plot becomes a bit convoluted, the chemistry between the leads is super engaging and makes you wanna keep watching !
i loved the romance between li wu and shu tang just as much as the bromance with lu zheng ! in fact i loved that the female characters weren't just damsels in distress but had their own motives and development
the last episode really could have been an entire arc on its own tbh but i can understand why so much happened off screen cuz of the censorship stuff china got going on - overall a really good, interesting show with great characters
the production is low and the editing could be better BUT the show has a charm to it that pulls you in! I admit that i didn't really care for the 2 side couples but main couple's chemistry feels so natural that i wanted to keep watching, as well as the chemistry of the friendships.
my fave thing abt the show is probs the dialogue - even though it was unrefined and a bit crude, it is these exact characteristics that make it the most genuine dialogue that 20 year old college dudes would have - like yeah they're gonna be swearing n be a bit awkward n make dirty jokes
overall, it is the genuine feeling of friendship n the main couple's sincerity that makes this show a fun watch
i thought this was gonna be a funny Weekend at Bernie's type of film but it was more like a badly written Lock, Stock and Smoking Barrells. It was allllll over the place and felt like it was trying to implement every genre possible which were ALL clashing with each other - product of some messy ass writing !!
would have been better if Kid was the main character tbh !! he was the man with the plan anyways
it was cute, but not the right format for such angsty topics

this was truly excellent - i beg they make another season, i wanna see more of our trio!!
