The thing I'm most in awe of is just how much depth and sympathy they've given these characters in such a short time. It's been 4 episodes of barely 45 minutes and they've made us care about at least 7 characters. The skill it takes to make us root so deeply for someone in a couple of scenes is really something.
Well.. Tbh imo ep. 5 was good. After all they are not police detectives, they are journalists who are in a hurry…
They used it for the other case though and again that's not my main issue at all. I am talking about the way the story flows and my issues with the writing in general but to each their own I guess.

There is a literal video of her taking a bribe and they are journalistic investigators, their entire job consists of doing things like this. Plus I wasn't saying they need to do anything about it (I said I know they maybe can't go up against someone like that) , I was commenting on the fact that the show has too much going on so nothing is addressed properly and the foundation is there but the execution is pretty bad. Even if they're not doing it, shouldn't they have discussed it in any way at all? If you watch the scene where they confront her you'd think the Minister's wife was some benevolent friend that got taken advantage of, that's not good writing...
I liked the first 4 episodes, but 5 and 6 were all over the place. The writing leaves a lot to be desired unfortunately, The case with the building collapse was way too rushed without proper build up and the evidence came out of nowhere. I know they can't go up against a minister but why were they acting like him and his wife were some sort of innocent bystanders when they were taking bribes and obviously complicit in everything that CEO was doing? The wife was even complimenting her acting skills, they didn't even discuss it. what about the other deaths, the entire thing didn't have any emotional impact because it was a mess. As for the other case, you're telling me they're dealing with a stalker, found a tracker on the victim's car but all these experienced investigative journalists haven't thought about maybe checking her phone to see if there's tracking software or anything else on it? They're doing too much, too fast so most of isn't landing, like they're checking off plot points and moving on to the next one because they don't have time.
" but hey, throw in some scenic shots and flashy budgets, and suddenly it’s a "masterpiece." " This is my issue with a lot of netflix's dramas and the way MDL rates them.
Haha I am laughing in disbelief after watching the last four episodes. The writers deviating from the novel and…
This sounds so much better than what we got, they were doing so well idk what compelled them to give us this mess. I don't understand why they didn't have MXL accept him as ZM DL and that they're all part of who he is including XXC? It was right there in the novel; it's all him but here they kept insisting it was only XXC she loves even after she got her memories of her love for ZM and knew DG was rewritten, I'm genuinely confused as to why they changed it, same thing for TM and his "plan" cause what?
Chapter 62“Zhao Ming…” her voice softly sounded, heavily falling on his heart.“That day I told you I came…
This is SO good, they should've kept this dialogue, it ties the entire thing together instead leaving us with the ambiguity of who loves whom in what iteration. It would've literally taken them 2 more minutes.
MXL loves the Demon Lord after she finally finds out that Zhao Ming is Xie Xuechen and he is naturally a good…
I mean the demon lord is both ZM and XXC and considering what he's been through he has every right to be as angry and vengeful as he is. I think they'll become one person because they are and although that won't erase all the suffering he's been through for thousands of years she'll love all the different parts of him all the same.
She is not willing to sacrifice everything for him though. Her problematic brother looms large 😂
She is, she defied TM, drew her sword on him to make him save ZM and when he wouldn't she did all she could to save him, she literally says "even the pearl loses its light and the book of fate burns I will never yield" .
Pearl/MXL is truly a one in a million female lead. she embodies the kind of endless devotion that’s almost always reserved for male leads. We have countless male heroes driven by all-consuming love and willing to sacrifice everything (as is the XXC/ZM here) but female characters with that kind of devotion are few and far between. Here in both her iterations, she is willing to die for him, kill for him, defy the gods for him and even re-write fate no matter the consequences, she never wavers in her love and in her quest to protect and save him and it's so beautiful to watch.
I started this drama thinking it was going to be a silly little show I can pass the time with but it turned out to be so much more. One of the most entertaining experiences I've had watching dramas in a long time. I laughed, I cried, I got angry, I cheered, I loved so many of these characters and their bonds. Season 2 at this point is not an if but a must.

Same, so far she's shown she will do anything for him and he has also insane things to save her so let's hope we do get to see her continue that and do the same in the next episodes.

Hmm yeah It's a little weird because it's not really him yet so that "seduction" feels like it's gonna be with someone else not him. But they've done almost everything right so far so I'll trust them.

I agree I'm just worried because this stuff wasn't in the novel, the person she's in love with is XXC not ZM so her dynamic with ZM in the next episodes is ??? to me because until they actually merge I don't want to see anything romantic btw them.

They've done such a good job so far of showing just how much MXL loves him beyond anything as much as he loves her I really hope they don't ruin it in the next episodes.
Can I ask how one sided their relationship is? is it just the ML taking care of the FL and loving her more or…
Then I'm looking forward to it. I was hesitant because a lot of dramas do this, where the male lead is the one making all the effort and from the comments here it seemed like that was also the case here I'm glad it isn't.
Due to Chinese censorship rules, I believe his return to the real world is inevitable. In my opinion, following…
I mean it's all illogical but I'm not saying he should meet everyone in the modern world. But that they should find a way to show he's still there or he goes back or something ...
