Hi Bladey, yes I know what you mean as I am quite close to a 'drama slump' myself since I feel I have seen most of the best dramas out there. However, my opinion is that 2013 is a really good year for Korean dramas... as I have enjoyed quite a few so far. The best for me so far is definitely Cruel City, followed by Nine, Incarnation of Money, I Hear your Voice, That Winter the Wind Blows which are those to which I gave the highest ratings. For Jdramas I heartly recommend Tonbi so far and at the moment I am watching Hanzawa Naoki which is having very high ratings in Japan (over 30%!).

Hi Bladey, very well thanks and you? I have been enjoying many cool dramas lately...mostly current ones that are being shown. The year 2013 has been really good so far both for Kdramas and some Jdramas too...what have you been watching recently?
As much as I enjoyed this drama, I couldn't find the plot so original except for the fact that it was about a pastry chef. Yes the acting was really good and it was interesting to see Hyun Bin and Kim Sun Ah at the beginning of their careers who proved their great acting talent. Even though Kim Sam Soon is a strong female character which is pleasant and unusual to find in Korean dramas, I found that her complaining and yelling with her squeaky voice sometimes were a little too much and that the story had many of the typical clichès found in Korean dramas. Nevertheless on the whole I thought it was a pleasant romcom and I was happy to be able to add to my watched dramas list.

You have a nice long journey as yet with Big and I am sure you will enjoy all the episodes. Yes I am absolutely loving Master's Sun (the first Hong sisters drama that I am appreciating) and I am catching up with Kim Sam Soon which was missing from my list. I am enjoying it a lot too although it was a little weird at first to see Hyun Bin and Kim Sun Ah so different from how they are now.

I enjoyed Big too and didn't find it bad at all...what many people are disappointed with is the ending which concerns only the last 10 minutes of the episode. I look forward to hearing what you think about it.

Hi arashi84,
pleased to meet you. I am also a big fan of Arashi by the way!! I am glad you discovered Gong Yoo in Coffee Prince and I hope he will be in a new drama soon. I will be very happy to exchange views with you. :)
I don't know how I managed to finish this drama, probably it was the basic story that got me hooked and helped me to pull through these very heavy 38 overdramatic episodes. This was one of the most exaggerated Korean dramas that I have watched so far...there was too much of everything, too much violence, bullying, slapping, screaming, untold secrets and revenges which made the plot really redundant. It seems that family dramas need to have all this to attract Korean viewers but it is definitely not my cup of tea. Kim Jae Won was the only reason why I managed to survive through it all, and because of his great acting and the only positive character in the whole drama I will rate it 6 otherwise it would have been a 4 for me.
This is a nice drama that leaves the viewer with a positive and warm feeling. The theme of making the right choices in life is really well developed here with a great emphasis on friendship and mutual support. I enjoyed the setting of the country village with the lovely river and bridge. What I like so much about Jdramas is that they always make me want to go and live in these small villages where everyone knows each other and supports each other.

thanks so much for your friend request...I agree with all your 'must haves' for a good drama. I also am a big Coffee Prince lover as you can see from my profile pic. ;)
I also like Nina here below was totally blown away by this drama! The whole plot and how it was developed was pure genius. It was not only the time travelling factor that made it interesting, but most of all how it was developed and how the past and present were connected. I found it really clever and would recommend it to everyone as it has amazing unexpected twists and turns until the second to last episode. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the last episode as much as it left the viewer with too many questions (I think the writers overdid it there in their effort to keep the plot twisted)and for this reason I can't rate it with a 10 as I would have done for 19 episodes. I will rate it 9 however I consider this as a real masterpiece. Very highily recommended.
I just finished watching this drama and the first thing I feel like saying is that it does not remind me at all of City Hunter. Yes the revenge plot is there but this is the only similarity with CH as it is carried out in a totally different way. In any case I enjoyed this drama mostly at the beginning as I really appreciated the OST and the filming of the first episodes. However as the story progressed it somehow lost its initial attraction and I carried on mostly out of curiosity. It is the first drama that I see with Kim Nam Gil and I thought his acting was very good as well as that of most of the cast however the plot could have been developed a little differently especially at the end. I rated it 7 as it lacked originality and spark (I think it was also unlucky that it was shown at the same time as Cruel City which was much better IMO).
I really enjoyed this drama. It was a clever mixture of crime, law cases and romance and it was very well acted with a lovely OST as well. All in all it left me with a warm feeling and I am happily rating it 9.
I agree with many opinions here below that this is so far the best drama of 2013. It is amazingly well made and well acted and the story is so full of twists and turns that it keeps the viewer on the edge of the seat during all the episodes. The plot is also very realistic, dark and also a little depressing although it is at the same time extremely fascinating and intriguing. I rated it a full 10 and I will certainly rewatch it in the future. Jung Kyung Ho's acting here is absolutely brilliant.
this is a very deep and intense drama that gives many beautiful emotions to those who watch it.It deals with strong themes in a very tough but meaningful way and the acting is absolutely superb. It is a drama that can't be easily forgotten which is why I evaluated it as excellent and rated it 10.
