Okay. Because I really needed some clarity about the drama ending, I decided to search for clues from the novel…
I remember waiting and eagerly anticipating the God version of the ML in MM to show up, but when he finally did, he stayed for an episode and then was like, 'I'm out, this isn't my problem to solve.' It was so disappointing. 🥲

Yeah, they could've included a few more scenes at the end to show how they came to terms with their memories and different personalities, but I'm still happy with what we got. I can't be too greedy with xianxia, at least they're both alive! 🤣

I believe I'm among the few who preferred the second season over the first. The storyline felt tighter, and the new characters were interesting (at one point, I was actually rooting for Ma Xian Hong when everyone turned against him, lol; Wang Zhen Qiu also stood out to me, whether because of his design and styling or his fun personality). The fight scenes were phenomenal, and I appreciated the more serious tone. The ending of S1 was cheesy and not very satisfying, as far as I'm concerned, but the ending of this one actually got me interested. Overall, I'd give it a 9/10.

I heard he was cut from Riverside unfortunately. The others I'm not sure about.
So he doesn't show up at all?? I guess I'm gonna skip that one then. 😅
Thanks!

I need help from someone who watched his dramas & movies. I think I'll get an answer quicker this way, instead of asking in their respective comment sections, lol. I'm going through his filmography and I want to know:

1. Do I need to watch the first part of Journey to the West to understand the second movie in which he acts?

2. Is Inference Notes movie separate from the drama?

3. How often does he appear in Ice Fantasy? I want to watch it, but if he has an insignificant role I don't think I want to go through 63 eps 😂

4. What's his guest role in Riverside Code like?

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't think they were going for that (them being separate from their past selves) and I also think that MXL's initial distrust of DL ZM is understandable, especially given the context of their first meeting and his past actions. It's important to acknowledge that her hesitation and wariness were grounded in the way they met. When she first encountered him, DL ZM was hostile and even attacked XXC, and even after XXC's soul returned to him, DL ZM still held onto hatred and vengeance. This contrast with XXC’s nature made it difficult for MXL to treat him with the same trust or empathy immediately.

As the story progressed, however, MXL began to see things differently. She started to understand DL ZM's motivations for his hatred, and over time, she recognized the complexity of his emotions. That doesn't mean she wanted him to stay hateful. She wanted him to let go of that part of himself.

Also, the moment she saved TMS after her memories returned was particularly significant. It was an acknowledgment of her past as A'Zhu. By returning his favor (he did transfer her 10 000 years of misery curse to himself) she also honored their thousands of years long connection and companionship. He was, after all, her only "family". However, it’s clear that this act also created a barrier between them, reinforcing the idea that while she was returning the favor, she no longer wanted to remain involved with him. It was both a gesture of compassion and a firm line drawn between them. I think it was a nice and subtle way to show how she merged with her past self.

And also, like you said, in the end, they showed us their merged versions. It wouldn't have hurt to see more, but I think they made it clear that they were the same people. It's completely opposite of what Moonlight Mystique did f.ex. They completely and explicitly separated reincarnations from their past selves. I didn't like that at all.

So many great photos of him & yet you guys chose this one 😭
I think it's good, definitely better than the last one. I'm not sure who changed it, but whoever did, thank you! Getting these approved on MDL is tough. They always have some reason to not let you change it 🥲

I don't mind. It actually clears things up for me, so feel free to rant 😅

Oh, I see. Well, fingers crossed for that to be true! 🤞🏻 Just read your conversation below and it's just so unfair to him. My guy deserves better! 😠

Anyway, thanks for this convo. It's always a pleasure to talk with you about WD, hehe.

I see. I don't know much about the inner workings of C-Ent since I don't speak Mandarin, and on the international side, people don’t really explain things. I just see out-of-context comments and can never figure out what caused them. 😩
But honestly, if he’s not going to get the support he needs for his career, it might be better for him to seek better opportunities elsewhere. I really like GJM's works, but I also want WD to have enough space to shine & it seems like he's currently stuck in supporting roles, which is criminal considering his talent.

Is it known when his contract with GJM expires? If he’s not satisfied, he should leave when he gets the chance. From what I’ve seen, though, many agencies mistreat their actors. I’ve never seen a fan completely satisfied with the agency behind their favorite actor 🥲

Oh, bummer 😞

Why not GJM? Honestly, I really like GJM's works, but if he’s only going to get guest roles, it might be better to collaborate with someone else.
He looks great in the costume for Veil of Shadows tho. So so beautiful! 😍

I'm so conflicted about this one. There were things I loved, and things I hated, but in the end I rated it 8.5.…
It was both better than I expected and more frustrating than I could tolerate. The story was engaging, especially after the characters arrived to Qionghua and became disciples. I appreciated the strong focus on their friendship. However, the world-building didn’t impress me as much. The quests felt too easy (for example, when they needed to find artifacts no one knew anything about, they just happened to fall right into their hands as soon as they started searching for them. It felt too convenient.) Additionally, the last episode and the whole Goddess/divine will/fate subplot felt out of place and came out of nowhere. Just made me roll my eyes.

As for the characters, Su Yao was particularly grating. I can't stand characters like her, who are obsessed with a man who doesn't love them and are willing to humiliate themselves and endure mistreatment. One of the evil sisters from Back From The Brink was like that too. Xuan Xiao wasn’t the most likeable either, but at least his actions had a reason behind them. Su Yao, on the other hand, was driven by nothing but her irrational and annoying obsession.

Also, one more thing that really annoyed me was Mengli and her infamous escape after her identity was exposed. She took her sweet time leaving, even though everyone was literally fighting to help her escape. It felt so dumb and unnecessarily dramatic. 💀😩

Aside from those things, I liked the overall story progression. Tianhe's character development was especially satisfying.

Could someone explain the ending?
ML, FL, and 2ML eventually joined forces to defeat Hao Tian. Their plan was for 2ML and FL to use their powers to create a space exempt from time and space, while ML allowed himself to be possessed. This would enable the possessed ML from the past to fight the possessed ML from the present, ultimately allowing them to kill Hao Tian, since they wouldn’t have been able to otherwise (only HT can kill HT). The plan succeeded, with 2ML sacrificing himself, and the ML from the past dying because he was weaker than the ML from the present (the past ML lacked the fragment of the soul that later became XXC, while the present ML had it restored).
The present ML then had to take the place of his past self, enduring another 10 000 years of imprisonment, while the FL from the past had to repeat the same process that had been done 10 000 years ago, to prevent any changes to the present and ensure that everything leading to the final battle with Hao Tian stayed the same.

The final scene shows the present, 10 000 years later, where ML is free and now represents a version of himself in which ZM and XXC have merged. He retains XXC’s memories and personality, but has the body and powers of a demon. After sealing ML again, in the past, 2ML destroyed the Book of Fate (and himself?), believing it was no longer necessary, as people would now be the creators of their own destinies/fates. It’s unclear whether he later reincarnated as a human, but I believe he had to be, because he needed to exist for the plan against Hao Tian to succeed.

Hope that helps, I tried to cover everything 😅

I just finished with Moonlight Mystique and while waiting for Love of Divine Tree tomorrow I'm planning to restart…
I can't really answer your question because I think it was good from the start, but I can relate to the 'not being able to focus' part. I also watched both TBL and MM at the same time, and I kept mixing things up and forgetting past events, especially those related to the heavenly realm. So I put MM on hold until I finished this one. I didn’t realize watching two xianxias at the same time would be so taxing! 🤣

Clarification: are Spirit Clan not humans? Thanks
No, they can have human form but are a separate 'species' that has been in conflict with humans since forever & are currently basically enslaved by them.

I watched the first part yesterday, so it's still fresh in my mind for comparison. The second part has a much clearer narrative, and the animation/graphics (?) is better than in the first one. However, there are still many unanswered questions, and the ending suggests a third part that will probably never be made. It's a bummer.
Still, I'm glad I gave this a chance. It's an interesting story.
