not everyone hates FL. There are many of us that love and adore her. So it's not like the writer is doing something wrong, it's just different people have different tastes and it's impossible for a writer to please everyone.

not everyone watches dramas as escapism. and no one forces anyone to watch it. if it's too much for someone, they can just stop watching. Unless someone wants to watch it despite feeling overwhelmed, by the plot. But then you are making the choice, and it's not on the writer for writing painful and hard to watch story, it's on you for continuing to watch it when it's too much emotionally. I've stopped watching many dramas and movies that by the quality were amazing, but the topics were hitting me a bit too hard and it was simply too much to continued. The audience knows themselves the best and it's on them to decide if they can handle presented plot or not.

Yes, he sees value in her when she is dedicated WIFE, and not as just human being. He was 100% fine taking the risk of her suffering when he was not 100% sure she did not run away and ONLY decided to go after her when he found out she was in fact kidnapped, so she did not break the vows as a wife. Because he only sees value in her if she is faithful wife. That's my whole point. If he truly loved her, he would go after her the moment he heard she was kidnapped, because he would not want to take that risk of her suffering.

I will be honest, I did not hate Official Gu in part 1. Yes, it was awful how he used Gil Chae's father, but with how all the characters acted selfish at times and no one was truly pure and good, it was just on brand with the writing. He made one shitty decision out of jealously.

BUT the way he is in part 2 is just trash. The truth is, the only value he sees in Gil Chae is as his wife, and not as a human being. If she hinders in any way the image of his wife, he is ready to drop her any time. Even if I head a cheating partner (which is not even the case here), but found out they might be in danger, possibly enslaved and abused, I would do everything I can to help and save them, and only after they are safe, I would make any decisions whenever I want to stay with them or not. Their life would be more important than my pride. But he only cared to help her after it was proven she did not run away, but was in fact kidnapped. He is such a weak prideful fool who does not deserve any woman, not just Gil Chae. Because he does not see women as partners, but as possessions, whose value depends on how well they can manage wife duties.

That's the issue! The woman he claims to love goes missing, but he does not see her as the victim, he sees himself as a victim in that situation.

I don't even think it's weird he had doubts, it';s the fact he let his jealousy and doubts blind him enough he refused to take an action that could save her from being dragged out of the country that annoys me. One does not control their feelings, but they can control their actions.

I know why I dislike Ryang Eum. Because he is immature and his emotions cloud his judgement a lot. The idea he even had to ask why he should care if Gil Chae was kidnapped is awful, ESPECIALLY since he knows EXACTLY what will happen to her, because he saved complete strangers from the same fate in the past. But he is jealous and he cannot see a victim of a kidnapping and abuse in Gil Chae, just the fact she received the love from Jang Hyun that he wanted. And the fact he decided to tell the truth was not simply because another human being is going to be abused and tortured, but because Jang Hyun's gonna get his feelings hurt - also gross.

This is why I love this drama - the focus on the hardships common people face. I got so angry when they killed the girl just because she was too tired to walk anymore. So inhumane. But that's something the drama differs from many other historical shows. I am so tired of royal family being poisoned and dramatically spitting fountain of blood, or coughing for 20 episode to die at the end. Or the only war violence showed being a "battle scenes" with male lead slaying all the enemies. I love how this drama shows that war has the biggest impact on normal people.

For me the scene on the beach is somewhere between 1636 and 1659. It makes no sense for jang hyun not to age at all for 23 years, especially since they did age the person in prison. I think the beach scene is the moment when he goes "missing" and 1659 is when they are trying to investigate his current location and find out if he is even still alive.

How i saw it, the reason why she told him in that latter that she does not love him enough, and basically is picking the other dude is because he literally told her that is she picks another man and tells him she does not love him he can move on with mo regrets. For me, ot was her wishful thinking that letter worded like that would make it easier for him to move on, because as far as she knew, they could never ever be together after she marries the official.
