It's because most of his dramas are in Youku and they don't hold year end ceremonies like iQIYI and Tencent.

I hate that the ending is ambiguous, the screenwriter should have ended it in the solid ending be it a sad or happy ending not the confusing one.

According to the deleted scenes, it would appear that the original intention during filming was for NYZ to die…
it could have been they released that special alternate ending clip from their vaults (implying that both FL and ML survived) maybe they expected the strong criticism that will be coming and added the last min edit, they be like doing damage control but in the end they confused the viewers. I agree that the contradiction that was shown was ridiculous to think about.
