Lu Qianqiao’s decision to be a Perfect War Demon in the end didnt cheapen his whole journey but actually put emphasis on the great sacrifice he has to make. Since at the end, he need to chose between his own personal wants versus the greater good. I actually expect that since the beginning of the drama since that decision has weight.
All XianXia and Wuxia dramas always have this as a the central theme. Its refers to Xia which translate to ‘Hero’. Thus his sacrifice for the greater good made him a hero in this story as this is his story. Can you imagine if he didnt have to make that decision? Then it ddidnt honor the genre of this drama which is XianXia which means ‘Immortal Hero’.
I think when the writer told us it would be satisfying happy ending, since despite his great sacrifice, he still get what he wants at the end — not only his power, his 5 senses as the curse against his clan being lifted INCLUDING reuniting with his wife and friends.

This drama is not messy. It is actually very well written with proper structures. Everything was set up way earlier before the events happened. They also show a lot than tell so you need to pay attention since they wont explain some things to you.
I didnt watch any of the drama from the same universe and I understand it just fine.
This kind of script is very intelligent with lots of social commentaries and food of thoughts arguments. Many of the messages in the drama can be linked to modern problems like the class system, high tax, high cost of living, socioeconomy matters, also lots of critique about economy and politic.
I would say this drama is a bit on the high end conpared to other XianXia dramas which usually focus on romance more. This drama main theme would be Mortal vs Immortality, Rules vs Moral and Segregation vs Fairness.
That said, you like what you like. But this drama probably will get high Douban ratings for how strong is the script.
What a ride! It was intense 5 episodes finale before they gave us 2 episodes to see the aftermath of the events. We can see how every character is doing even Ying Ying. 😃

I actually like how the ending commented about the 9/9 Heavenly Talents. The overall message is to critique on people’s belief of divination. In the end, they all Heavenly Talents that saved the world regardless of their birthdates.
Also, despite hoping for more, I like how Lu Qianqiao got what he wants at the end even at a great cost. He becomes even more powerful, he has all his senses now and he reunited with Mei and Chu Ying.

It is revealed in episode 33 that Wushuang Society has been planning Su Taiyi death for a long time. Remember the zither that being played during his death? That is medicine music that can kill people. They have been feeding Su Taiyi with the music for a long time. So, when the musician purposely broke the string, it caused his death.
The plot twist is that we all thought he is dead because he gave LQQ his bones bit actually its not.
Prediction before finale: 1. Li Mofu which is Tianyuan Grandmaster is the final big bad boss. 2. He is also LQQ’s father. 🤣 3. LQQ is the human savior as predicted by Crazy Taoist. He is also 9/9 baby like Mei, Asheng, Bai Zhongying, Jinlun & Li Muhan.
The writer has been so unpredictable so far in her writing. So cant wait to see how all this being played out.

Oh my gosh I love love the birthday party Mei thrown for LQQ. As expected of her to do something so meaningful like this for our tragic war demon. Just want to say that she probably got the money from all the winning LQQ won for her during the card game. 🤣
Anyway, the plot twist is strong in this one. I didn't expect to know that Wushuang Society is behind Su Taiyi death. I think the writer pretty much outdid herself many times in this drama. Her plot twists made sense despite being surprising. And I love when I can't predict things.
And I agree with LQQ regarding immortality is more like a punishment than blessing. I mean someone who have lived for a long time like him and Mei's shifu would understand that.
And we got another poetic justice in this episode as well. This time, it's regarding Emperor Zongding. While he is the most powerful person in the country, he lived the whole of his life in fears. And died in that state as well.
And another commentary by the writer on the class system. First we got it with Fu Tian on how this segregation caused him to be a villain. And now we see the same thing to the fallen Bai Zongying with how his sect is treating him. I swear all these immortal sects members are so corrupt to the core except few of them who seemed to have good head on their shoulders.
While the writing has been fantastic. The romance is truly the bonus for this drama. I love our couple. They have like the healtiest relationship between lovers in XianXia dramas. They discussed everything together and understand each other on fundamental level. LQQ is right when he said he is so lucky to meet Mei. She understand him, share the same sentiment with him regarding immortality and wasnt prejudice towards his origin. I like how she made him cry as he is so touched when she prepared the birthday celebration for him. 🥹 When he hugs her at that time, you can see how he just wants to melt into her embrace.❤️
I also want to point out that mostly all stuffs that happen between LQQ and Mei is literally like a mirror/reflection of each other. Like they both started their relationship with their own ulterior motives. Or how the marriage bond saved Mei couple of times when she’s on the verge of death and not only him. Which also explain their understanding towards each other without much conflict even after him being a War Demon revelation. Also the part where both went and beyond to help people in need where him against his bloody nature as a War Demon and while her breaking rules to do that at the cause of her cultivation. Also how they both experience ‘memory erasing’ since that is LQQ’s response to trauma. The writer took the title ‘Perfect Match Made in Heaven’ literally in everything. 😆

Gosh I love both episodes. What a great ride esp Episode 30. Who would have thought LQQ is at Great Stage Competion (8th stage) before Deity Transformation (10th stage). And I also wonder how he wants to defeat Fu Tian and it made complete sense when he used Mr Gui's Sunblock cloak to turn back the time. This is why I love the writer's writing since she always set up the stage for her plot way earlier. So when it happened, it's from existing condition and wasn't there suddenly as plot armour. It happened many times in the drama and this is also one of them.
Also, I love how a simple clue like Lord Baozi defends Bai Zongying at the fight at the inn gives us all we need to know who is the real mastermind behind Fu Tian which is Tianyuan Grandmaster. And the LQQ's dissapointment face when Fu Tian still refuse to admit his mistakes. 😔 He is the type of villain who become villain due to environment. What he hates to see before, he become the exact thing that he despise. But I must applaud the fine line he is walking as in becoming the lapdog of immortal sects but at the same time build an army to fight the same immortal sects.
I also like the theme about people side with power. All the Qinghong Sect's excuse of siding with Fu Tian because LQQ is a War Demon which is their enemies is just excuse since the real reasons is they side with power - - they are human which were given spiritual roots to become immortal so of course they're gonna side with people who gave them power. That's why Ying Ying didn't bother to explain when she killed the Void Level cultivator since despite he knew the truth, he will still side with Fu Tuan.
And I also kind of happy with the punishment Bai Zongying is getting right now. I still can't forgive him on how he killed all the innocent Wushuang Society members despite knowing full well how Demon cultivators look like. So his close eyes and killing them is much more unforgivable than people who follow blindly like Jiang Ji or Li Muhan. But I like what Mei told him about being free despite being powerless. This is where LQQ and Mei are different as they didn't covert power but just happy living a quiet and happy lives. That kind of wisdom are not understood by many people in the drama as they are so greedy for power.
Also, I love how we got a calm and happy episode for episode 31 before we are thrown into another conflict in the next episode. I love our sweet couple. They always so happy when they talk to each other and being in each other's company. They are indeed a 'Perfect Match' as they truly understand each other on fundamental level.
