What I think is that she loves all three of them but those are 3 different types of love.CX is the family love.…
Happy to read that, I love analyzing characters and I must admit I have an enormous pleasure watching LYF because the characters are so complex and well written.
Those ship wars are over the place. That’s why I’m repeating myself like a broken record: I love both TSJ and XL equally, they both love XY and she loves them both back. It’s not about who we are shipping her with, in the end it’s all about her own choice.
Something I love so much about Xiaoyao is how complex and real she is as a character. She knows Xiang Liu’s…
I was very happy seeing how it became more obvious, that both TSJ and XL respect each other and respect XY’s decision if she’s going to choose any of them (that’s the difference between them and CX, too).
It was somehow shown for XL before but TSJ saying it out loud, that she has to have that choice between him and XL was very nice to hear.
Let’s make them just live happily ever after together as a trio. I wouldn’t complain about that kind of ending 🥲
This is the first drama that I watch that is a real tragedy because the "happy ending" is with a boring guy. :-)…
What I think is that she loves all three of them but those are 3 different types of love.
CX is the family love. They have a lot of memories together, they will be always protecting each other but their paths in life are completely different. From my perspective, there was never a chance for romance between those two.
TSJ is the peaceful type of love. That’s the type of love which may sound boring but that’s something a lot of people may only dream about. To spend days just on living but with the feeling of safety and being loved, knowing how the rest of your days will look like. For someone who needs to have a life full of adventure, that kind of scenario may sound worse than a death sentence.
XL is the passionate love, full of extreme emotions. It’s like fireworks, spectacular and most beautiful but it’s very rare for it to be like that through the whole life. It makes you change, question yourself, but will never give you a feeling of peace. If you want a life like that, to never bored, it may be your dreams come true. But if you look for the feeling of safety and stability, it won’t last.
I wouldn’t dare to compare those three types of love and say which one is “stronger” or “better”.
At the end of the day, it’s what she’s been longing for the most and who she’s going to choose.
XiangLiu and XiaoYao relationship is typically toxic.... they are both terribly wounded, but XiangLiu is healing…
That’s a very good point. At this moment, it’s XY who is more toxic. XL learned a lot and his overall attitude changed drastically. I would say she’s at the lowest point of her life (excluding the time she was captured and tortured).
I am also admiring TSJ as character. He went through hell but he still stayed true to himself. I don’t understand…
I agree, it’s sad to still see it’s a thing in 2024. Man can also be a victims.
What’s funny tho is how people are absolutely blind on the toxic part of XL’s and CX’s characters but they’re trying to find a toxicity in every TSJ’s action.
It’s like they’re refusing to believe there may be someone like this, who went through hell and can still be a good person, so they’re trying to find anything which would confirm their assumptions. Because in reality, most of us would drastically change after this kind of experiences, loosing all the trust to the people. Not that extreme stories were the origins of villains in other dramas and plenty of people would say “we should pity him, I get him, his experiences made him this way”.
He’s from Tushan and he’s a 9-taled fox so he should be after money, he should be cunning and trying to trick people. He should be good at flirting. From time to time other characters make assumptions about him. But in fact he’s everything but not it. Repeating myself but: only egoistic and trutly desired by him scenario is living a peaceful life with XY. I don’t think he ever lied do XY about his feelings. He even admitted when he thought he was selfish, wanting her for himself. There was nothing cunning about it, there was no hidden agenda.
Oh and another thing. The fact that he’s married and still loves another woman doesn’t make him toxic. His wife literally SA’d him. He’s a human being. He clearly didn’t want that marriage, those were the circumstances which made him to do that. If not for FFYY’s, then at least for the child, he decided for what he thought would be best in this situation. I would love to find out what are the other options he had which would not make him loosing himself. Really.
Oh, another thing. TSJ is the 2nd fox character we met in this story. The first one as we all recall was the one who tortured XY for years. But XY even once didn’t make assumptions about TSJ and didn’t compare him to that monster. She sees him as Shiqi, through his scars, through his true form as a fox, through his identity as a “golden child” of Tushan clan. That’s also why he fell in love with her so hard, because she’s the only one who sees real and genuine him, without all of those labels.
And she fell in love with Shiqi, his only true self. Not the wealthy and talented TSJ, but the kind and simple guy who could spend days with her making medicines and hanging out with their mortal friends.
I am also admiring TSJ as character. He went through hell but he still stayed true to himself. I don’t understand…
👏👏👏 well said!
I’m not even mentioning the victim blaming he’s been through anymore because it just triggers me too much and I prefer to not get involved in pointless discussions with people who are supporting that attitude. If TSJ would be a female character he would be treated much differently, I think.
I am always in awe of how kind Jing is. rarely do we get an male romatic lead with this quality. Usually it's…
I am also admiring TSJ as character. He went through hell but he still stayed true to himself. I don’t understand the hate he’s getting. He’s always trying to do the best thing possible, makes the hardest decisions. There is no agression or violence in his actions (except for the moments he’s trying to physically protect XY).
I think people forget that what XY loves about him is exactly what he’s been hated for the most.
S1, Episode 34, 00:06:07 XY said to him: “The shackles you can’t break free of are actually your gentleness. And it is your gentleness that makes me like you”.
One can say he’s a coward, never doing anything but from my perspective he’s not a weak or cowardly person at all. He could just leave and live his life as Shiqi but he understands his responsibilities. He’s also a type of person who chooses to stop the cycle of violence, because I have no doubts he could just tell everyone what his brother has done to him and that would be enough for him to be killed. He’s not choosing the “easy path” but the other way around. He doesn’t care what people think about him, what he mostly care about are other people’s feelings.
You may say he hurt XY but what other choice he had? She was fully aware he’s been set up by his grandmother and fiancée. She knows he would never leave her for another woman willingly. What broke her that much is the fact she instantly knew that as soon as FFYY was pregrnant their relationship was doomed, because TSJ will do what he’s supposed to. Don’t you think that if he would leave a pregnant woman that would mean he’s no longer the man she fell in love with? It’s the helplessness of this situation that made them both so heartbroken.
It’s just kinda sad, because I feel like some people like to hate on him just because they think XL or CX are better. They can spend many time looking for the depth in XL or CX choosing to not to do so with TSJ. His character has depth too.
He doesn’t care what other people think about him, he’s not looking for either the recognition, money or power. What he wants from life is living peacefully with XY and that’s it.
Not letting anyone or anything changing his intentions to be a good and responsible person is his biggest value but also the curse.
Actually, the most egoistic thing he’s done in his life was falling in love with XY. He chose to stay with her as Shiqi as long as he could before he was discovered, not caring about the responsibilities as TSJ. Then wanted to leave his clan just to be with her.
Personally, I equally love both TSJ and XL. They both have their flaws but that just makes them more believable as characters. I like CX as character too but maybe not with XY.
Oof sorry that was quite a long one 😅 Thank you if you made it through.
I cried so hard during the last minutes of this episode. They didn’t have to show the retrospections of them…
I think we may agree that she was angry at herself at this moment. She lost herself in the process, almost married a man who didn’t even really like her, more like her position as a princess. Like, girl, wake up and stop being so stupid (yeah, I know she’s depressed and feels lonely, but where is her true spirit?).
Tushan Jing comforting Mu😭😭 let me grab a Kleenex, I’m about to cry
I cried. Hard. How can anyone hate TSJ, I just don’t get it.
XY left them but he stayed a part of that family, coming back as Shiqi every few years. He must’ve been missing them and those old times so much 😢 The only times he was trurly happy.
I cried so hard during the last minutes of this episode. They didn’t have to show the retrospections of them being a happy family during the best days. I miss those too 😢
XY left them behind but it was TSJ who was coming back every few years, despite being the chef of Tushan, still staying part of their family as Shiqi. I don’t know how can people hate that man, seriously. And the fact that he’s been always aware she has feelings for XL and he makes sure that’s her who chooses whom she wants to be with. I’m absolutely sure that if she chooses XL he would be heartbroken but at the same time, if that would make her happy, he would be happy for her, too.
That’s also something him and XL have in common - they both just want the best for her, even if it’s going to hurt them. And girl, you didn’t have to be so harsh to XL. He saved your ass risking you’re going to hate him and loosing his identity as FFB. His sad eyes 😢 This man deserves the world, despite looking like a red flag he’s all green and developed so much since they met.
6 episodes in and I’m already crying. I don’t want to think of my state of mind after this drama ends.
"Xiao Yao doesn't know what she wants." - CXI agree lol I'm having a hard time navigating her thoughts and emotions
Good he was there to help her 🙄 She’s lost and depressed, her decisions are far away from being well thought. He was willing to sacrifice their relationship and the identity of FFB just to save her.
I think he's quite smart and he suspected she's not marrying out of love. Another thing is I have some bad feelings about CFL, I think he's up to something. But I may be wrong, I didn't read the book.
Great points! I am also sad for the way Fulong basically ignored XY. And her face when discussing the wedding.
I have a bad feelings about CFL. I recall his (over)reaction when he found out about TSJ and XY, he threw a tantrum like a toddler (he didn’t even stand a chance, XY obviously didn’t like him like that). He doesn’t care about XY, he maaaybe likes her as a buddy but the most tempting part of her for him is the Princess identity. Ew.
Him completely ignoring her when talking about the wedding was just a cherry on the top. I don’t like him, I’m suspicious of him, he clearly is after the power, not good for XY, even for the political marriage.
