Honestly, more for us I guess 🤣. Such a funny way to drop a drama - and it only just brings in more things about feminism in the media. Wonder how people would react if they had kept Chenyi's character from the novel - eat it up simply cause he's a man and too pitiful?? Ok, I see 🤨

Can I just say: it's weird for people to say that they find it uncomfortable or want to drop the drama simply because Miaojing dated before?? How is that justifiable? I mean, you do you, but if you look at the characters, I'm gonna need you to build up some empathy towards them. They changed Chenyi from the novels so he isn't exactly a playboy - ok cool. But now that Miaojing apparently dated you're hating her??

I mean, it's only logical for both characters to have had some relations with others - it's just the reality and is a more realistic approach. She probably tried out dating and tried to find love. She's obviously been abandoned so much so it's only reasonable for her to try things out, although deep underneath, she will never love someone as deeply as Chenyi. I would say: it may have been a coping mechanism for her. What's wrong with trying to find a bit of happiness?

Then again this just continues to build on Miaojing's matured character. Ofc she's changed - it's been 6 years. I'm not defending any of the character's actions from the novel because obviously each were messy af, but you've at least got to see things from both ends of the stick. He did practically 'banish' her away from him and change her options without her knowing, and left her alone in another foreign city - even if it was for her safety, she never knew why and he never told her why. You can't expect someone to remain like an innocent 18 year old forever after all the hurtful things he said to her and never reaching out again.

It's because there's apparently two different versions aired on the international mangotv vs the mainland China one - the top one is the mainland. I honestly don't know why, and seriously wished that they just compiled both into one (because damn, the mainland version is so spicy!!). If you think about it, the international ver has much more angles that it covers and is slowed down a bit more in order to build the tension and create a more emotional feel, while the mainland version is cut a little differently (slightly less smooth) but it has more closeups and has some angles which we never saw from afar.

They did it for Never Ending Summer as well so I'd expect quite a few other scenes getting the same treatment, especially kiss scenes 🤭

I agree. This was the main reason why I didn't feel like even starting the novel. I get that the plot is very crucial and all, but I don't really like how many C novels portray red flags as something to dote on - both for ML and FL. And his character was quite rude (well, very rude) and both leads were pretty toxic so let's just say, I get the gist of the hype around the novel, but the drama is the one that will top it for me.

I'm glad they showed a scene after that kiss scene in ep 17 instead of skipping to another setting and for them to act as if nothing happened. When he said "Please give me some time", I couldn't help but agree. Yes, it may take some extra time to see them officially together again, but I need him to really focus on himself and heal. Chenyi carries a large amount of trauma within him and needs to be less selfless. People need to realise that restarting a relationship doesn't just happen overnight for someone with such rich history with PTSD. Miaojing is obviously here to help him recover along the journey, but for them to finally be happy, it will take some time. Just hold on!!! I know we'll be fed so much afterwards😭!!!

Gosh, I haven't read the novel so idk everything that happened to him in the past, but my poor boy went through so much 😣. The whole of ep 17 had me feeling shivers and so emotional for him

Just like Never Ending Summer, I guess Mangotv is releasing the kiss scene from a double-angle view, and yes, KEEP THEM COMING!! Such a pity that they only release these special clips for domestic mainland China SVIP users. I wish they allowed international SVIP users to view them too 😭🙏

I think it's kind of a 'wake up' call for him. They were arguing about his life and how he's constantly stuck in the past and not moving on and she refers to it as 'garbage'. Then, she brings up her dare in order to open his eyes. In my interpretation, she dares him to kiss her in order to provoke him: "I dare you to kiss me. Do you dare?" - Provoke him into releasing himself or something (I honestly don't know how to put it into words, but I saw another user talking about their interpretation a few hours ago). There isn't any mistranslations: she does say it. It's hard to say in context, but I hope it makes sense...??

Not all know how to sing but I guess it just grew into something that they do alongside acting - I'd say training. Actors who are already singers tend to sing ost for their own dramas (especially idol-turned actors), and sometimes other dramas too eg. Liu Yuning. Otherwise, they'd probably just do training. But then again, both ZJY and SWL have sung for their dramas before :))

8.5!!!!!! YESSSS!!!!! I still think it deserves a MUCH higher rating than that, but the joy I feel whenever the rating goes up 😭🙏!!! (reminder to rate the eps as you watch in order to bump up the overall rating ^^)

Also, idk if it's just me, but like I actually like how they chose to cut off the past scenes with no explanation and jumped to 2011. The way they bring fragments of the past back into the present actually makes everything hurt so much more. We still haven't seen the full flashback of what happened in the 2005 fire, and so instead of making us hurt from the past first, they chose to make us feel the pain in the present. Every time a piece of the past comes back, it feels like another layer of their memories and wounds is being revealed, and yet at the same time, being mended. In this way, their love, regret, trauma, tragedy, they’ve been carrying for years hit even harder😭

And can I also say: I love the random close ups on objects. Like the apple he cut in the first ep, the thermometer, the close up shots of the rain water and surrounding environment. There's something so majestic about them. Lowkey, I'm just loving the whole aesthetic that the drama is giving and the colour palette they've used.

Also, I think we can all agree that this cp is definitely the best pairing for both sides😆!!! They're so comfortable and playful with one another, and I'd say it's because they're same-age friends, and neither has worked with a costar that was the same age as them before. I hope they not only can maintain this friendship for so long, but also work together again - casting directors, I'm looking at you...👀
