If we're talking realistically: there's no way a drama which garnished intense popularity and broke records nationally and worldwide would be removed from a global, US platform this easily. I'd also arguably say that Perfect Crown has accumulated quite a bit for Korea's tourism now, especially with the historic marks that the drama filmed at.
I see people are all over the place on Twitter/X and other platforms, so I'd like to just quote this from a post on X (I will post this under the discussions for others to see too):
Here is the actual factual ground truth from South Korea to save you from the timeline panic: The petition on the National Assembly board is real (due to a historical detail dispute in Ep 11), but its actual threat level is completely overblown. A petition needs 50,000 signatures in 30 days just to be reviewed by a committee—it is nowhere near a binding law.
Furthermore, a local government committee has zero legal authority to force a global, US-based platform like Disney+ to wipe an independent piece of intellectual property from its worldwide servers.
It takes 7 days for a petition to fully process so it seems these people were already planning a scheme towards the actors and the drama from the moment ep11 aired. This isn't anything but a smear campaign now. If we take it into account: Snowdrop faced intense public backlash over allegations of historical distortion and romanticising the South Korean regime. It received a whole lot of hate and controversies before and even during airing, with and even had a massive petition sent to the South Korean presidential Blue House which garnered over 365,000 signatures. But it's achievements globally and on Disney+ - it was NEVER removed. The Blue House dismissed the formal petition to stop the broadcast, as the law protects artistic freedom, but JTBC network later issued formal apologies and released episodes 3 through 5 consecutively to contextualize the storyline and alleviate concerns. It still remains iconic till this day. Actors are free to talk about it.
All we can do now is ignore everything and just go with the flow. This is just a minority of people who want to apply a smear campaign on Perfect Crown and its actors due to its immense success. Being realistic: there's no way a drama whcih garnished intense popularity and broke records nationally and worldwide would be removed from a global, US platform this easily. These people need to actually get a grip. I also hope the production team fight for the drama's rights and speak up or something.
The production team and Director Park Jun-hwa have already chosen a practical route: they formally apologized and explicitly stated they are simply editing and patching the specific audio/subtitle scenes for all future streams. Both IU and Byeon Woo-seok also handled it with immense grace, posting sincere personal apologies on Instagram taking full responsibility as lead actors. This is no longer constructive criticism or hate: it's a smear campaign that's been calculated to tarnish all the actors and the drama's success.
Petition is only a weapon of agitation, and the drama cannot be forcibly stopped as a petition.
The domestic noise is already settling. The show concluded its domestic broadcast run at an incredible 13.8% series high and is currently dominating at No. 3 Worldwide on Disney+ with 490 points. It is NOT being deleted; it is simply being patched behind the scenes. Rest easy! 📈👑✨
Most of the people who submitted this petition are haters who already have a 'grudge' against the lead actors, especially the right-wingers who hate IU for donating food to the impeachment demo supporters at the end of 2024. So this petition doesn't represent the public who have actually moved on from this controversy.
Needing 50,000 in a country with millions of people, where there was even a drama that had over 300k and it wasn’t removed..... They can keep making mockery of themselves atp. Well, this is not even our headache to bear, may they keep having headaches over PC till their heads blow off💀
My exact questions and i made a comment week ago but no one told me .. hope someone will answer us 😂🙏
1. It's a slight slow burn - the ML has always had feelings for her, and on her side, you can see that she falls for him quickly too but denies it. He confesses in ep 7 i believe...or sooner (as far as I can remember). She confesses ep 10. But honestly, they already give off married vibes from the beginning anyways, so it's a great watch and you won't feel like it's draggy. 2. There are no misunderstandings. This is something that I absolutely love and will always praise them about - this couple is AMAZING with their communication and never fail to disappoint me when it comes to communicating with one another about their problems. It's the smallest details - I love how they are always on the phone with one another, even if it's for the smallest topics too. If I were to say, there are like slight moments where they may argue and say things that they don't mean, but it gets cleared up REALLY quickly. I like the tension that it brings. 3. There's technically a love triangle, but it gets abolished so quickly. I-an likes Huijoo, prime minister likes her too but his reasonings are so dumb and there are no people who feel second-lead syndrome for him. Huijoo obviously only sees prime minister as an older brother, but after she finds out about things, she turns away and no longer trusts him at all. I-an has his full trust on prime minister but is met with a painful betrayal - he finds him as a rival after ep 6 when he starts recognises Huijoo's feelings, but overall, I-an doesn't have anything against prime minister, hence why it's so sad to see at the end what eventually happens. 4. HAPPY ENDING!!! Please don't go listening to all these people on this page going on and on about the most ridiculous things about the drama's ending and such. If you look overall, tiktok stans, insta stans, global watchers, national watchers, etc., all love how it ended and you can't deny how successful and amazing the drama is.
ENJOYY YOUR WATCH!! It's an amazing drama, and is so special to me. Perfect Crown got me out of my kdrama slump because of how long I'd been anticipating IU and Byeon Wooseok's collab. I hope we see them work together again just NOT under MBC EVERY AGAIN!!! Chemistry is so firrreeee!!!
spoilers please guys!!!when do the main couple get together?is there any misunderstanding/breakup? if so how long…

Just today, the director of PC has officially come out and apologised for the convenience they've caused and has reflected on how all he feels is, apologetic towards IU, BWS, and the actors for their hard work and everything that's happened and how he felt apologetic that they had to take it into their own hands and address letters to fans and the audience. Well, the damaged has unfortunately been done...and this was never any of the actors faults anyways. Hope they never encounter MBC for another drama again after all this mess. All I hope now is that everything is out of the way and that we can finally see the last few BTS photos because I'M SO SAD THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO POST THEM YETT!!!
The finale was supposed to be a joyful time for all we're we should've been able to have seen all the actors celebrate their achievements and the drama's records. But it's all because of the production team's mismanagement (even from the very beginning). It's also been confirmed that the actors themselves never received the script books for the eps until the VERY DAY they'd be filming for that ep...so explain to me how it's on them?? Idk... And if I can recall, there was a time when IU was still filming for one of her drama's 16th episode while the 15the episode was premiering live on tv... IU and BWS' first MBC drama, and I hope, they're last one. I ofc don't think that either of them was wrong to pick PC (I still stand by how much their talent made the characters and they gave the viewers so much joy the last 6 weeks), I just sad that they put so much trust in a production team that did them no justice. For a drama like PC which achieved so much in its run, it's sad none of this can truly be recognised fully without people bashing the actors.
The only thing that’s truly upsetting is that wooseok and iu could’ve wrapped everything up on a genuinely good note. They were all so excited and confident, constantly interacting with fans through their official communities, happily sharing stories about the drama and their characters. They were even posting back-to-back behind-the-scenes moments for Perfect Crown after every episode on Instagram, enjoying themselves and interacting warmly with the rest of the cast as well.
We could’ve sent them off happily and celebrated everything together… but instead, they ended up carrying a burden and taking the blow for something that was never even their responsibility to apologize for.
At this point, all we can really do is wish them well and continue supporting them, because they will be okay as they always are. It’s just heartbreaking to see a drama they worked so hard on being treated like this, despite the fact that it became such a massive hit that entertained millions of people worldwide.
IU has mentioned how she still has loads of BTS photos she's yet to release, so I'm hoping all the actors can rest from this smear campaign and bid the drama farewell in they way that we'd all hoped🤧🙏
The web novel has been released and I'm planning on reading it once my assessments are out of the way. As far as I know, they REALLY condensed the whole storyline....such a pity for all the actors who poured their hearts into their roles.
Perfect crown biggest enemy was never the story itself but mbc and kakao, forcing everything into 12 episodes just to push the webnovel rollout and maximize profit. The rushed pacing literally feels like a consequence of corporate greed more than bad writing. Romance-wise - the trope was done really well, but if they were going to include political aspects, then they should've extended the drama's eps. I will forever grieve and complain about the lack of eps and amount of missed details.
Anyways, on a happier note: I'm glad that we're seeing more positivity on this page because damn...yesterday was quite a rollercoaster. Regardless. we can't deny the impact that this drama has had on the many viewers, and the actors are to be praised for all efforts. You won't see me gone anytime soon: I'll be back to square one and rewatching it againnnn. Hoping to see them both update their socials soon because the drought it real 😫 (Freaking MBC.....just had to ruin it all)
It's so refreshing to see the feed be full of positivity today!!! I haven't watched the last ep yet cause I don't wanna say goodbyee😭!!!! Such a pity that IU and BWS haven't been able to bid the drama farewell in the way that we'd hoped (ALL BECAUSE OF YOU MBC!!!!), but I wish the best for all the actors after carrying the show and the viewership on their backs!!
It may not be so positive on this forum and x everyday, but looking overall: The whole nation has honestly loved it and both the tiktok and insta community love it too!!
(Not saying goodbye yall. I'm coming back for more rewatchess 🤭)
Do you happen to know whether the script book will have an English version? I already purchased the OST album,…
As far as I know, kdrama script books have only been in Korean and so I don't think there'll be an English ver (I wish they did🤧!!!). I'm hoping to purchase it as just another piece of merch and maybe translate as much as I can 🥲
Production team is in hot waters due to historical depictions in the last ep. MBC...wait to ruin it all for the cast, drama, and viewers. Hoping all these actors stay as far away from MBC as possible because of the heck of a mess they've made all throughout production. Only giving IU and BWS the script for the first 4 eps, having them accept the roles, only for the remaining scripts to be handed out on the exact days of filming, with the rest of the plot only being exposed to them until later. Unfortunately, the fate of this drama was already foreshadowed from the beginning: MBC did nothing when the leads were confirmed, they remained silent when the rumours about the drama being cancelled roamed around, and when the decided 12 eps were enough. And apparently, the airing times for the eps have been muddled around so much, IU and BWS have had to personally notify the start time till the finale.
It's such a pity considering how amazing everything is. This probably explains the silence from the cast today - while we'd expect behind pics like usual, MBC just had to ruin it all. And to have it all happen on IU's birthday too....such poor management. If you're gonna drag anything: it's gotta be MBC and their mismanagement all throughout the prodcution.
The original script books are being released soon with the ost album soon, and you best know there's probably a whole load of unreleased takes that could've enhanced the plot if MBC had used their brains and made it 16 eps. For now: all I just want is a pleasing catharsis that allows I-An and Huijoo to be at peace 😌🙏. The actors have all worked hard to bring this drama to life and have committed so much in this run through. All we want is a happy ending where our WanSeong couple is alive and well
Apart from the excessive negativity that surrounded this drama throughout its airing, what I genuinely fail to…
🙌 THANK YOU. I can guarantee, many of the PC viewers may be frustrated in the way that MBC has handled this whole drama considering how high their budget was and how they have IU and BWS as the main leads. But that doesn't echo our enjoyment throughout the run of the drama. You can point out the flaws of a drama without degrading others' enjoyment.
Anyways, may the drama end on a clean note, with a pleasing catharsis. 😌
I literally don’t understand how people can say, “For many (like me), it was what took us out of our LONGGGG…
Now, I'm not saying that kdramas in general are bad: many dramas have their own flaws and all. It's just how there's been an ongoing pattern with kdramas where they start off very strong and then the writers bring in unnecessary tropes and ideas that fully ruin the ending (eg. recent ones like Dynamic Kiss, Our Universe, etc.). Every dramas has its flaws but just because we enjoy one thing which you don't find enjoyable, doesn't mean we're wrong for finding a great connection with this drama. Perfect Crown was the drama that immersed me back into kdramas (along with Yumi's Cells 3) so I guess it's just stuck with me, especially how I've longed to see IU and BWS work together again.
Sure, it may seem to you that there are "so many good Kdramas, and way better ones than *PC*", but that doesn't really apply to all of us. I don't see myself criticising kdramas as a WHOLE just to uplift PC: I'm just pointing out the minor aspects that have caused some kdramas these days to fall, especially with the poor execution of episodes where some may drag on, while others may NEED that extra slot of eps to fully complete things.
PC may have it's flaws script-wise and episode-wise (freaking MBC are lazy and don't know how to handle things AT ALL), but you can't deny the impact and records this drama has made/achieved. For many (like me), it was what took us out of our LONGGGG kdrama drought/slump, with many people recently switching to cdramas. I will always cherish this era so much and I hope you will too. Once this officially ends tonight, I guess you won't be seeing me and kdramas mingle for awhile. Been waiting so long for this drama to air so I'm just happy to have been able to witness IU x BYW in action with our beautiful WanSeong couple unleashed. Kdrama directors: YOU KNOW DAMN WELL YOU SHOULD CAST THESE TWO IN ANOTHER PROJECT TOGETHER!!!
With the last ep airing tonight, regardless of how it goes plot-wise, I just want to savour every last bit of Perfect Crown, our WanSeong couple, and IU and BYW's last few moments on screen. It seems that IU may not be returning to our screens for awhile due to her upcoming music endeavours with her album, and it may be Wooseok's last romance drama for awhile too. I DON'T WANT IT TO END 😭
(I have to praise them for the romance development because dayum, THE TENSION and YEARNING each week was insaneeeee!! If only they spared another 2-4 eps to complete the political side and round it all up nicely...😡)
I will forever love this drama with my heart, but I do wish they had given it more episodes cause why are we on the last episode but there are still so many unexplained bits? I better not see anyone blaming any of the cast for the poor plotholes and pacing of this drama because they are really the only ones holding this drama rn and giving it the numbers. You know, SOMETIMES dramas are best with 16 eps....the kdrama industry has seriously fallen with their eps these past few years, giving some dramas that SHOULD be 12 episodes 16 episodes, while giving dramas that deserve 16 eps only 12 eps. It all held on pretty well up to ep 10, but it really seems like MBC underestimated this drama (and are probably just lazy af) because why are they squishing everything in the last 2 eps??
I loved how well they developed the romance and I-An's rising to the thrown, but I wish they didn't give any characters redemption arcs. I want to know moreeee!! I'm planning to get the original script for PC and you best know, a LOT of people will probably be disappointed in how poorly MBC handled the overall storyline. Like: - What drove the PM to become like this? Is it just pure obsession with HJ, or is there more to it because I can see that the QM and her father influenced him by reinforcing how he's serving for the crown, but I feel like his betrayal towards them should've been introduced earlier if they were gonna condense the whole storyline into 12 eps. - Are we gonna just forget about the QM's doings? Burning the palace (I believe) and being one of the reasons for the PM's character change? - They really just tried to do damage control with HJ's dad cause all of a sudden he's acting civil with her after treating her like ass all her life. - Who messed with HJ's car and who killed that person?
Props to IU, BWS, and the rest of the cast for carrying this drama till the end. Streets say that they only received the script for the first 4 eps, which I agree, were really really great, and accepted the roles, but they wouldn't receive the scripts for the ending eps till the days they began to film. Idk about you, but if this was a TVN drama, it would've been so great: studio-dragon, same director as AOS, probably 16 eps. MBC, why are you so lazy!! I need another director to cast these two in another drama together with a complete storyline - no unnecessary plotholes and storylines that they just leave hanging, just pure peace! I love their chemistry so much, they deserve better!!!
If they were gonna make it a political drama about monarchs and status, then they should spare some more eps to explore it more and complete the storyline. Otherwise, it would've been best to take it on the complete rom-com path and let I-An ascend to the thrown, then happily ever after. I love a bit of conflict and political things, but like it feels incomplete.
GUYS!!!!! WE GOT MINKYUNG AND SEUNGYONG ANNOUNCING THEIR RELATIONSHIP!!!! Gosh I'm so happy for themmmmm😭😭!! All these months of rumours, speculations, and matching instas - they've been dating since around when the first ep aired last year!!! WISHING THEM THE BEST OF LUCKKKK!!! My favsssss

I don't see myself criticising kdramas as a WHOLE just to uplift PC: I'm just pointing out the minor aspects that have caused some kdramas these days to fall, especially with the poor execution of episodes where some may drag on, while others may NEED that extra slot of eps to fully complete things.
Like:
- What drove the PM to become like this?
