agreed about the running time, I had this similar problem while watching 1hr 50min lakorns - too long and draggy. But I guess it depends on the drama too, thought A Korean Odyssey used to have 1hr 20min episodes but I wasn't bored of that one.

this writer's dramas are usually long anyways though

loved Choi Jin Hyuk in Zombie Detective, am dying for a season 2 of it.. if you like the humor of Eulachacha Waikiki you might like this one. It wasn't scary, some eps felt like slice of life but it was mostly comedy, the "mystery" got solved pretty quickly though the plot could've had more potential.

First 2 eps were more fun to watch, this week's eps kinda bored me :/

I think most of us have moved on already, it's just the newcomers comparing it because of the similarities. They're all good in their own ways, I found all of them addicting/rated them highly. I did feel like cringing at the beginning episodes of this one but it's getting better now especially after the introduction of Gu Ho Dong's character. I wanted to watch Temptation of Wife since I love makjang and have been addicted to some daily dramas since last year

I love revenge/makjang dramas especially those over the top ones like The Last Empress/Hua Jai Sila :D

Penthouse is more over the top acting/plot while SC is more serious/slow burn drama.. I felt more emotional during the second half of that drama. I remember laughing at the Cha family too, like the professor's obsession with pyramids lmao.

agreed, this felt like a parody of SKY Castle in the beginning but it is still entertaining if you don't take it seriously xD
I wasn't completely hooked with SKY Castle until literally the end of ep 8 but that one still felt more like a solid drama than this one. Most of the characters here are unlikeable/cartoonishly evil but I am rooting for a few good guys.

am not really hooked to this one either ep 4 but then again I struggle to like most k-dramas nowadays, how is The Goddess of Revenge so far? I was hesitant to start that one but kinda wanted to watch for Kim Sa Rang..

Yeah I usually notice that for the dramas with more popular/good looking actors in it, like TKEM, Tale of the Nine-tailed, Start Up, CLOY etc.
I still liked plenty of popular dramas before 2019 but I just can't get into most k-dramas nowadays for some reason, the plots/scripts just don't click with me anymore. I only liked a few k-dramas this year - Kingdom season 2, Zombie Detective, TWOTM, My Dangerous Wife.
I'm currently watching A Man in a Veil (which aired after Fatal Promise) and Phoenix 2020 (Park Young Rin is also in this one) I liked both of them more after the time skips around episode 20+.

damn who is cutting onions ep 68 I haven't cried since watching a Thai drama this summer.. I love watching Tae Poong/Min Woo's interactions with each other.

I didn't even feel sad about the main leads' breakup, plus the FL wasn't really an interesting character to begin with, everyone else seems to be outshining her character.

yes he is cute, ep 68 made me cry today.. and I haven't even cried for any other k-dramas that aired this year. I love his interactions with Tae Poong, wonder if they will still continue that "father/son" relationship in the end even if the truth comes out.

Agreed, I can't trust MDLers' tastes in dramas nowadays I couldn't get into the hype over so many popular highly rated dramas since last year meanwhile some low budget daily dramas were entertaining for me even though they're only rated low 6-7s.. I like to trust my own instincts/decide for myself what's worth watching or not. I'll still rate a drama low if I didn't like it even if it has my favourite actors in it

exactly.. although I would agree that the new rating system is confusing since the ratings keep changing but even before the change I still like to trust my own instincts/try the drama for myself whether a drama is worth watching or not.

I found MLFAS boring but love LOTBS (dropped that back when it was airing and picked it up again last year but still didn't get the hype over it) this screenwriter is a hit or miss for me, since I couldn't get into CLOY either.

oh my bad, I must've read that part wrong.. but Jung Min is my favourite character though.

At first I thought she was going to choose Se Hoon but I guess I'll find out by finishing the 2004 version if they follow the original story/ending. I like the older actress for Mi Ran than the newer one, older Ji Eun also felt more sympathetic. Yeah the guys are too good for her lol but in the original one Eric Mun's character/acting isn't really as convincing to me compared to Seo Ha Joon so I don't really care who she ends up with there. Mi Ran is obsessive over Se Hoon even though he doesn't have feelings for her.
I dropped No Matter What at 8 eps, only wanted to see Kim Jin Woo in it since I liked him in Left-handed Wife but he's not even in the drama poster so I assume he doesn't have that much screentime anyways. I noticed other daily dramas are also rated exactly at 7.8, wonder if that's a glitch.
