i think rather than putting down Ming as dishonest, the ming envoy just shows how in this world, politics and art would often clash. artists would want their work to be appreciated as it is, a show of level of their mastery. while politician wanted art to serve their purpose and gain.
they forget to add in the synopsis that the 'high-profile assasination' victim is her husband! lol that would definitely attract makjang lovers to watch this drama. but yeah, just kangdongwon and junjihyun sharing screen together is already a romantical tension enough.
LOVE LOVE LOVE how they write one of the ming cooks as someone who has integrities and not morally corrupt. I know it's probably female lead's plot armor but to have a token evil character to not be completely evil really makes the otherwise very black and white drama become better!
we're halfway nearing the end so i'm predicting the joseon team will win with the food but ended up losing because of the machinations, the dowager queen will save them, but the damage will still be done, which will result in somehow sending yeon jiyoung back to her time..
i can't believe the female lead is jung chaeyeon! the jung chaeyeon from ioi! I was never giving her acting work interest before, too clouded up by her center position act. but she really acts well here!
the kind looking one was translated as King's stepmother. and the other two women was translated as consort one and two. not sure if they are current king's consorts or previous one.
i didn't expect much progression on romance until maybe the last 4 eps...
or i'am going crazy lol
