While there are a lot of differences between the two dramas, the obsessed ML and the overall craziness are very similar. They are both dramas for people who can give themselves over freely to wild and funny plot lines, while leaving reality and logic behind for an hour.

Both are the part of the 'Sweet' trilogy... Both are costume Xianxia dramas.... Love when the stars fall will also be made by same director Andy Liu.... Who also made Ashes of love....

Both Female Leads are always protected and loved by more than 1 male character. They are both talented in the arts.

Both Male leads are often recognized as scary individuals and will go through a deep character development once they meet the female lead.

Both deals with family issues (evil relatives trying to steal the thrown and kill their family members) and has a forbidden love concept (Romeo & Juliet vibe).

The scheduler is a grim reaper and has his own back story that he must resolve by the end of the drama as in Black.

Basically the same story but I think FH has more depth to the relationship between the ML and FL than MIFOL does.

The Thai series is based on the Chinese series. Although with different names, the characters are pretty much the same with similar attitudes. The setting of the story in a school campus is also the same on both series.

The synopsis of "Story of Yanxi Palace" honestly seems fairly bland which is typical historical palace drama involving the inner harem fighting for the emperor's affections, and bla bla bla which is definitely different from "Jun Jiu Ling" storyline.

These two different dramas found common ground. Both drama have strong and smart female leads. Both drama have plots such as revenge, royalty, politics, etc.
