Both of these films are rather slow-paced and have significant ideological conflicts at their centers. The clash of ideologies in The Fortress manifests as a political debate while the king and his ministers try to make decisions during a siege. The Book of Fish explores the value of different types of knowledge and learning by following the relationship between the two leads, who come from very different backgrounds, thus have different beliefs and mastery of different skills. Both are excellent historical films with great performances and beautiful cinematography. Though both have their uplifting and depressing moments, the Book of Fish has an overall more light-hearted tone, while The Fortress is more serious and bleak.

A being that walks both worlds, falls for somebody who isn’t supposed to be able to see him.
A girl with unique ‘sight’ and a unique calling, that needs the help of someone who can navigate this world, and the next, in order to survive her ‘millennium calamity’.

Both revolves around family drama. Not too heavy on the politics. Romance bloomed later on. Both female leads are clever and smart. Both female leads have someone who admired them apart from their husband.

Supernatural being finding themselves irreversibly interwoven with the female leads life. Growing too attached to their ‘charge’. Humanity seeping into their being, losing their god-like abilities due to meddling with ‘fate’.

-The same " bullying the girl you like" trope

Overall, both are good in their own ways.

Both have strong female leads who are princesses who do their utlmost to guard the country for the people and peace.
ML in both of them are generals with loyal brothers whom they go through everything.
In TLB FL cross dress knows martial art and war strategies but in TRP the FL doesn't know how to fight but use the other way as a wangfei of the ML to deal against enemies and her status as the princess of the country.
You get the same feel when watching both of them

Pop and Dew are friends who study at the same school but they slowly realize that there might be something more than friendship between them. Unfortunately, they live in an era that isn't open to homosexuals and thus the two get separated only to meet 23 years later.

Considering that this is the remake of this movie then I'd recommend this for the original vibes or a whole new different vibe compared to the remake cause it's the original, this movie was tragic, sad and a very deep story. This sad movie is supposed to be a wake-up call for those who are still judgemental of LGBTQ.

Both with very naive girls (because of wealth or being too sheltered) paired with mature boys who have more experience with the world and its ups and downs.

Very sweet how the relationship between the two grows by watching the two girls mature, while the two boys learn to understand their quirks.

-A workplace romance.
-The male lead falls in love first.
-A very sweet and mature romance that doesn't rely on dumb drama.
-They start dating early on for convenience, but the feelings start to show later.
-The female lead is an extreme fangirl, but it doesn't faze the male lead at all.
-Though she's a fangirl, she isn't painted as incompetent.

Even if you don't like the live-action movie for Wotakoi, I still highly recommend the Wotakoi anime if you liked Her Private Life! :)

From the 1st episode of Konin Todoke ni Han wo Oshita dake desu ga, I feel its so familiar plot story.
The ML fall in love with someone that he couldn't have it (his sister in law).
The ML have little bit the same character. The FL have limit time to stay together with the ML.
They have the same basic rule. Don't fall in love by each other when they live in the same roof.
