Both are similarly set around family and food. They also have similar characters: the widowed chef of a father, a career oriented daughter, a heart broken daughter etc.

Psychology, depth, introspections featured in both. Same experimental and psychedelic athmosphere. Comedy with bitter darkness and biting black humor.

Fukatsu Eri No Black Comedy (short series, 20 eps x 3-10 min) will make you LAUGH about the absurdity of life, while Memories Of Matsuko (film, 2h 10 min) will leave you CRYING for over half of the film!

Both dramas about the female lead finding clever and unique ways of solving problems. Both seem to constantly be involved in trouble and always need the male lead to save and protect them. Both male leads of the story are basically crazily in love with their partner and would risk their lives for them. Both also involves harming/poisoning each other to indirectly save each other.

Remember-War of the Son put emphasis on a lawyer proofing his father's innocence. Defendant revolves around a prosecutor proofing his own innocence. The father and prosecutor both suffers from memory loss, which makes it harder to prove they are not guilty. The antagonists in both stories are rather similar, they are both sons of rich families who are violent and selfish.

both dramas are driven by revenge plot device but love blooms against all odds. The male lead ends up protecting the girl instead of exacting his planned revenge.

Both dramas are about the main character's passion for music. Monstar seems to have a slight dark side to the plot that later resolves itself.

Both have similar vibes with the storyline of Ji Sung is trying to find justice for his lost lover/wife. Both are fantastic and if you like one you would like the other.
