Both have that delicious revenge-drama feeling where the FL looks calm on the outside but is quietly playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. The court/family schemes, the sharp female lead, the powerful ML who becomes her partner, and the satisfaction of watching awful people get exposed all give the same vibe. Not identical, but they scratch the same dramatic itch for me.
Both are well-produced BL dramas set in high school where the university admissions/exam process plays a large role in the story and is a source of conflict that complicates the leads' relationship.
both drama have similar premises and elements such as having housewives with secret identities who juggle and try to keep the balance between the different sides of their daily lives.
Mentor & Mentee dynamic in a school setting -- Choi Min Sik plays the mentor character in both shows. One is a movie; One is a drama.
- Highschool setting in the 80s/90s
- Gang leader FL
- Weak ML
- Hot tempered delinquent FL
- FL has a long time crush on ML
- ML likes the new girl in school
- Childhood friends to lovers
- FL is pursued by a gang leader boy
- Coming of age
- ML is very tall and FL is very short
Honestly, the stories are VERY similar. The main difference is that OtWK has an underlying mafia theme that goes past the FL's lil high school gang, while HYB is an average coming of age movie.

Both shows deal with "real" work environment, in the sense that we get to see the actual work being done and the problems that appear. Both shows also have romance between boss and employee, although in TRL the roles are reversed.
Both are mellow south korean movies with lesbian main characters and a lesbian relationship at the forefront, discussing struggles lgbtq+ people face.
They were directed by the same person.

Both shows explore themes of growth, family, youth and romance!! The start of Always Home especially reminds me of Reply 1988 because of their neighborhood dynamics.
Both FLs are painters and the plot concerns demons and evil trapped in paintings. One of the leads is possessed by a demon/alternate supernatural personality who takes over their body occasionally, appearing as an evil version of themselves.
Guyssss, watching Love Has Fireworks is making me want to recommend Filter even more ?
* Same ML (Tan Jianci ??)
* Chaotic and hilarious moments
* Great chemistry between the leads
* Fun supporting characters
* A ML who's competent but also unintentionally funny
* THE BICKERINGGGG
The dramas are obviously very different in terms of plot, but if you're loving Tan Jianci in Love Has Fireworks, I'd definitely recommend giving Filter a try. He absolutely carried so many scenes with his expressions and comedic timing.
I might be biased because I loved Filter, but seeing him in LHF keeps reminding me why he's one of my favorite actors to watch.

Green flag male lead, The leading man yearns for the love of his life and does everything to win his heart. The second male lead is a cutie that loves to be spoiled by their boyfriend.
Two intelligent characters, fighting for what they want and wise. Both are devoted to the family. A series with adventures, intrigues and twists of the situation.
He's a brave character, skilled at fighting and a good strategist. The heroine is a brave and wise woman. The action takes place in the medieval period.
both dramas have the theme of reconnecting with someone from your past after a long time apart, and both couples also go through a painful separation before eventually finding their way back to each other.
My Dearest and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo share epic, heart-wrenching love stories deeply intertwined with massive political turmoil.
Destructive Circumstances: In both shows, the romance cannot exist in a vacuum; it is constantly threatened by war and bloody political power struggles.
Profound Emotional Angst: The narrative focuses heavily on the theme of star-crossed lovers making immense sacrifices for one another against the backdrop of an unforgiving royal or historical era.
