Eerie feelings wrapped inside a thriller

I think this one is the best non-romance drama of 2021.

The story revolves around sort of post apocalyptic world where water shortage has lead to it's commercialisation similar to cancer meds (maybe more chronic than it). To find new avenue of water countries are making ventures into outer space. Bae Doona and Gong Yoo are part of one of such mission.

The space station shown is very realistic. Side characters including Lee Joon don't shine that much. Their roles are rudimentary. Barring OST, everything else is perfect.

Great cast, poor execution

Honestly, I don’t understand the hype this drama is getting. I had high expectations but something was missing and made me lose interest. I pushed myself to finish it until the end but still.. What bothers me is the lack of explanation of some events, the plot holes, the poor character development. ML and FL didn’t show a great amount of chemistry. Some characters were too much and useless. Many times, their actions didn't make sense at all. Like for real, it made me angry cause it wasn’t that realistic or logical. I know it’s fiction but would you rather trust cops or a murderer? However I would say the cast nailed the acting. The ending .. disappointing. They skipped many major unresolved plots and left many questions unanswered. Although it is a happy ending, I wasn’t moved at all. Seemed too good and easy in my opinion. Finally the music, I enjoyed it. Overall: this drama doesn’t deserve the hype surrounding it AT ALL. I got a headache instead of being entertained. Waste of potential cause the synopsis seemed promising and the cast was great.

I wasn't really sure what to expect when I started watching this. For me I didn't know what to watch, and none of the dramas that were currently out were catching my eye. I thought I'd give this a shot. Oh my goodness! I pretty much watched the first 6 episodes in a row. This drama had my attention right from the start. This drama is so well written. The story is pretty unique. I don't really like psychology that much so I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I might have changed my mind after watching this. The drama shows how different characters cope with their mental illness. I think that is my favorite thing about this show. So often society says that people with these problems CAN'T live normal lives, but this is not the case. (Oh how I could get on my soapbox about that.) I think the writers did try to make it as believable as possible.

I cannot tell you how much I love this cast. I will say I didn't expect much out of D.O, but he did a good job. I was glad to see some old face. I think everyone worked well together. I think the cast fit their parts perfectly.

The music was really good. There were a couple of songs that were just meh, but over all it was good. None of the songs are super annoying. My favorite song was Hero by Family of the Year. I have been playing it constantly.

I will for sure be watching this drama again at some point. It's just so amazing. I think when ever I feel like my life is falling to pieces; I'll watch this and remember that it's going to be ok.

This is such an inspiring story. I really hope more people decide to watch it. It's such a lovely drama. You will cry a few times, but just so amazing. There are several dramas that let me down this year, but this one delivered.

Even though I absolutely love T.O.P and Seungri this movie just didn't do it for me. The story was very weak, and I found it hard to believe in. It just lacked alot of things.

The acting was so-so, I never really liked T.O.P's acting. The same goes for Seungri's acting. I'm not saying that they're bad, they're just not that good either :(

BUT, a big BUT, the moral of this movie made it good. They were able to portray it in a good way. I would recomend you to watch this just because of the moral. (AAAND MY ALL-TIME BIAS SEUNGRI, TO ADORABLE!)

Overall it was a good movie, it was quite well-made and the ending left me with a peaceful mind.

I love a good "forbidden romance" that makes me question my own morality and values. However, even if Chugakusei Nikki delves into that forbidden territory of a teacher and student romance, it does so in a realistic manner.

The innocence of Akira (played by the talented Okada Kenshi) who is experiencing the turbulence of being a teenager and who is in love with his teacher. For him, there is no consequences in loving his teacher because for someone his age - love is love. Whilst Hijiri understands that Akira's feelings for him are forbidden and can have severe consequences on her life. This isn't a spoiler, but if people are disturbed by the fact that she may act on her feelings, then don't be. Because she behaves the way one expects of a teacher who knows her student has a very real crush on her. She tries to distance herself and it doesn't work out. Akira's persistency and her own feelings break that fragile border between right and wrong.

This is a story of love, however more than that it is a slice of life. We as viewers are allowed special insight into the lives of each of these characters. We watch them grow, make choices and most of all live their life to the fullest, doing what they think is right. Thank you everyone on mydramalist for making my watching experience such a joy, and also aoihachi for the subs!

The Title is Misleading-ish

The title of this drama is called the "The Princess Royal" but I feel like it's all about Su Rong Qing.

Let me start off that the first half of the drama was intriguing and interesting. I like the concept of both Li Rong and Pei Wen Xuan returning to the past and trying make changes, but I also feel that Li Rong was acting the same as she did in the past. It was so frustrating watching her trusting SRQ and "loving" him even though she realized that he killed her in the past. I feel so bad for PWX because she treated him so poorly even though he was the most loyal person by her side. He was willing to sacrifice his life for her and yet, she put his feelings aside for "what it might be".

I hated SRQ the most. In the past life, he not only killed "his loved one" he did everything he can to get revenge for his family, and he was even willing to excuse his brother for killing QZZ and having an adulterous affair with the empress. It does not make any sense to me that he was willing to stand by all of that. I mean, I get it, he lost his entire family and was even humiliated by Li Chuan, but he needs to understand that what SRH did in the past was also wrong.

He claimed that he "loves" LR but does he really though? It feels like he loves himself more than anyone else. He claims to "love" his family, but yet, he killed his own father to gain control of the Su Family. Everything that he did, was for himself and no one else. He claim that he was protecting his family and LR but he was really doing everything for himself.

My main compliant about this drama is that SRQ was the main lead and everyone else was just supporting characters. I mean, SRQ has the most screen time and his face was everywhere. I know that PWX and LR are the main leads in this drama, but I feel like they have been sidelined and it became SRQ.

7.5 is where I am standing at with this drama. I don't think I will rewatch this drama unless I'm totally bored, but if I did, I would probably watch the first few episodes and that's it. I did thought of dropping this drama and I did end up ffw majority of the episodes, but I didn't because I wanted to see it through and I was right, it was disappointing.

Now this is not a bashing of Tharntype. The actors behind this drama did great with what was handed to them. Tharn and Type have great chemistry and I would not have changed who have played them one bit. They fit perfectly. My problem with this series is with the characters and story itself.

Warning spoiler territory!

Now the first half of Tharntype I was with, and I was along with the ride. Love by Chance was a cute drama and I was excited to watch it's prequel. The story was going well and I assumed it would carry along with Type realizing he had more romantic feelings for Type and start to grow out of his toxic way of thinking.

Boy was I wrong.

After Type punched Tharn for being jealous of him going out with a girl (her name escapes me), that's when I knew this series was not going to go the way I wanted. Type's character just seemed to go downhill for me. He does not get worse in my opinion, but he does not change. His character growth only goes far enough to accommodate his like for Tharn and that's it. Other than that in my eyes Type is still homophobic. The story could of changed this around by making Type see eye to eye to his old childhood friend but they pretty much swept that under the rug and forgot about it. And Type punching Tharn instead of his ex goes to show that the writers genuinely thought this type of behavior was okay.

I just couldn't get behind the couple being together at all. Their toxic dynamic was not romantic for me at all. Enough for me to put off the series for weeks after ep 11 and skimming through the finale. Again this isn't the fault of the actors, but the writing. The writer could of done something great with this series but they totally missed the shot on this one.

it was ok

i am rewatching it now to see if i missed anything to make me think it was just okay-to-bland and no i feel the same. it was fine, it was cute but that's it...it was just ...ok? the more i sit with it the more flat i think about it while knowing in my brain it was cute but not feeling it the way i want nor what others do.

imo what the show lacks is heart and a sense of true intimacy. of friends, of space, of romance, of life. it's evident even the way the scenes are set up. i understand that they were in higher alert for covid when this was filmed but that's the reality of all productions from here on out until the world gets its shit together. additionally, though i do not think that it is as high as people think, if the budget for production WAS high then it absolutely should have been better! we should have been able to see it with thoughtful production, editing, shot choices. and i'm sorry but it was shot very perfunctorily and that was evident. but the whole thing is so sterile /and/ perfunctory so it makes sense.

i don't care for nor notice patterns of supposed cross-gender norms (miscategorized as heteronormativity) placed on these relationships or characters and i do not think that is the issue since BL is definitively and staunchly dedicated to masculinity even when it tries to imply some type of 'female' in more feminine characteristics. i mention this because the issue with them wasn't the tall/short thing but there was 1) a difference in caliber of acting 2) very obviously that other kid is young and he is very very small so it is kind of jarring to see one, who is very much not college aged anymore, and someone else who graduated high school 2 years ago (and is very much college age!)

what's most shocking to me is the reception of the show. i have noooo idea how it got so popular or even exactly why like what kind of contagious feelings that people caught for this show. i know there must be people who are pretty ambivalent towards it like i am. i wish it had more oomph or pizzaz or something. i have seen and watched way worse but i have also seen, watched, and /enjoyed/ the way worse and that's the biggest bummer for me. it doesn't have to be special but it could be something eye-catching, or really funny, or something to just stand out or makes you want to latch on to it except for the red clothing or the BLK coffee shots but that's about it and that's not enough. even his fake tattoo was boring and so new (hello! makeup!)

i didn't care for the manhua but they're so different that it doesnt really matter anyways. maybe the story from conception wasn't that interesting anyway? who knows but this one had no ambiance (literally with the way it was edited and no audio tracks of ambiance but also figuratively)

i don't remember the music (and i am literally rewatching it) and usually i hate music in these shows anyway so let's just say it was fine. would i rewatch? well i am now so.

the girl was hot and i love plurisexuals and that's about all i have to say now

What nonsense is this?

I seriously thought that they would actually focus on his journey and it would be more introspective but this, I just don't know what the point of it was.

I'm getting real tired of shows using Europe as a country, like if the differences between one country and another were at the level of between states in the US. It was very clearly not Brussels and it was annoying they were trying to sell me it was. I don't know, the ML could have actually gone to Budapest and the story could have been set there, but I guess it would sell less? Maybe many people don't know where Budapest is?
This movie was way more melodramatic than it needed to be, or at least the melodramatic bits needed to be in other moments not the ones chosen. At points it keeps dwelling on it but I just couldn't care, meanwhile things like the fact his mother's corpse was sold is mentioned a few times for shock value but doesn't have the emotional depth that other less interesting moments have, for example.
I started to roll my eyes when he kept finding locals and would get beaten up for the stupidest things, it was so unrealistic and even the lighting changes between those rough moments and the end of the movie. Now he made it I'm sure he won't bump into anyone that will beat him to nearly death... *logic not found*. Once ok, but he was beaten up so many times or pushed around like a pathetic box of potatoes too many times in a short time span to be realistic in my opinion.

As other reviewers have mentioned as well, that's not how the process for refugees works, not only in Belgium but also in other European countries. If they wanted more realistic melodrama they could have tackled for example that there has been cases of abuse and terrible conditions in refugee centres.

Then he finally has the court meeting and he just runs out because of the girl and somehow he still gets the refugee status? Excuse me? I guess he didn't even need to go in the first place then, "this court case could have been an email".

The female lead was a very unlikeable character and I still don't understand what her deal was. She was a spoiled brat. She clearly comes from a family with money and she rebels against the father because her mother passed and I guess she's against assisted death but it was not her decision anyway but the mother's? So she has a tantrum that gets her into trouble and that kind of life. I still don't understand why the gangsters would care so much about her in the end, and if they did to that extend they would have found her in whatever country she went to. Equally unrealistic is that she used drugs but didn't suffer the consequences of any of it.

The romance here could have been a side story and I thought it would, but as a main plot it's just not there. Their love doesn't grow in a realistic way nor it was realistic that he would risk so much for her. Two minutes prior he was telling her about the razor and how he and his mother were ready to end their lives than be deported, the next he's leaving the court to run after her even though, from his knowledge and perspective, he doesn't know what or if anything has happened to her. Also, call the police or something? I don't get it. He's the masochist type I guess, he didn't have enough hardships that he decided to put her baggage onto his shoulders too. Sorry but I don't think many people would do that for a fling. Sure, they say they love each other but I felt nothing other than "boy, you have a problem".

The "airport" at the end was the cherry on top, and the FL in that ending was quite puzzling until you remember that she has daddy's money I guess.

Acting is good but it can't save the mess it's the writing and the overall execution. I don't know how different the book might be but I'm zero interested after watching this movie I'm afraid.

This whole entire drama was problematic. I don't even know where to start. Can't explain my frustration.
Story. Well. . .No comment.
Acting/Cast. It just wasn't par to my expectations. Either that or cutesy stuff really isn't my thing. It wasn't that great of a chemistry and their chemistry just seems stiff. Honestly, I didn't love the characters either.
Music. I liked certain tracks.
Rewatch value. I personally, would not rewatch it, I couldn't even get through most of the show without skipping most of it.
Overall. I do not recommend it, but whatever floats your boat.

When I first watched the trailer for this show I though Evan Lin was going to be playing a sexy bad guy. That is definitely not the case lol. I love the cast chemistry in this drama. Evan is gorgeous as always, Chen Xing Xu is also quite handsome and plays the lead very well, and Zhang Jung Yi is both precious and cunning in her role. The 1920s were such a beautiful and elegant era and it’s really refreshing to see a historical type drama in that setting. The costumes have a classic charm, the music fits perfectly, and the whole production really transports you back in time. Even without watching the last episode, I feel confident in giving this one a re-watchable status.

Let me start off my saying that I am not a big Park Shin Hye fan. I get annoyed with her samey parts and lack of kissing skills. But, upon hearing that Lee Jong Suk would be joining the cast, I got excited. And upon watching, I knew why. His talent for turning words on paper into a realistic, emotionally taxing, and brilliant character, made this show amazing. Park Shin Hye's acting seemed to improve throughout the entire show, and I actually enjoyed her part. It was a story that grew on me, the emotions of the characters is what truly brought this show together. Without the acting talent of Lee Jong Suk, I don't believe this show would've been such a hit.

Not worth the trouble

sorry that my comment starts off negative - but considering reading the positive comment made me watch this, i feel the need to warn others. this is a waste of time - and what astounded me, is that people not only liked this, they gave it 10 out of 10 - why? how? this was just bad.. and not, as in boring or a plot with holes, the character's were bad - there wasn't one i liked. and plz - this is anything but love. this lust! basic sexual attraction nothing more nothing less.. trying to sell this, as a love story is an insult to the word love.

we got Sasaki who isn't just a pushover, yes-man he comes of a bit "slow" as in "the special needs" kinda way - watching him made me cringe in embracement and shame. he has little to no self worth/respect. and happily enables everyone around him to step all over him - happily smiling and excusing their behavior - when they do nothing, to even act apologetic - talk about doormat mentality.

then u got his supposed love interest - talk about a joke - this dude takes being a tsundere to a new detestable level. like most abusers, they can spot a "weak link" in the blink of an eye - little wonder Tamura can't help getting on Sasaki case, openly insulting this moron - who just bows and vows to do better - watching this made me see red - this is romance 101 sadism style

and if these two weren't enough we got Sawako, Sasaki's childhood friend that is more bulldozer then female. it was obvious to the world that she wanted more with Sasaki, who she kept pushing and shoving verbal. basically making a nuisance of herself. could go on and on - about how i despised this - but for what? think my sentiment is pretty clear. what a disappointment -

Well… It was something…

now that this is over, I think I can say it was just average to me. I didn’t like any of the characters, and I found myself barely connecting to any of them. I’m not sure where the Mew storyline went because he was the least complex, least interesting, and overall most flat character.

I think everyone hyping it up, trying to analyze the characters, and general noise from the fans was making this seem more than it was. it was nice to see them push a bit against the norm for Thai bls, especially in the exclusive pairings factor, but I can’t say it made up for the lack of attention in fleshing out stories/backgrounds.

it was an interesting watch, but not something I found too enjoyable. the slut shaming of Boston was also a huge annoyance to me and I think he deserved to be seen as a person, not just a drama factor. he was the main reason the series could even keep going, so it was disappointing not seeing him get to say his piece.

this almost pushed the “open relationship” mentality, as I don’t see this as poly. it just fell short. I don’t really know what else I can praise this for… khaotung’s song? forcefirst being a thing? overall I just watched this to watch it. after the mew dramatics, knowing damn well it was just for show, it lost a lot of wind for me.

anyway, not a bad show, but it didn’t work for me personally.

THIS DRAMA WILL SURELY NOT DISAPPOINT YOU!

I really don't understand why this drama is so underrated like seriously .I want to really appreciate the screen writer and director for their work .If you are a crime and mystery genre one this is it .honestly speaking after watching first episode i wasn't that into this drama but as the story goes on you'll be hooked to the drama. You'll be confused at the start like what's going on but once you start watching you'll understand how everything is connected.

There are many drama writers who get messed up sometimes but that's not the case with this you'll get answer to all your questions. The whole drama focused mainly on the story it never felt that the were off the track. This story starts when a skeleton is found on a railway station which was closed since long time. But the confusion gets more tangled because the dead body of the person they found was alive in this world how? TRAIN.A train which connect two parallel worlds. The detective was on medicine so no one couldn't even trust him like how can train join to parallel worlds. But when he traveled through it and saw the person who died in his world and was alive. But their was difference in both worlds, it all started when Do Won made different choices on that rainy day when Seo Kyung dad was killed. This story revolves how Do Won finds the killer and also how he protects whom he couldn't protect earlier. Why would a killer kill people from a world and dump in another and also not know about it?
1. The story line is actually amazing
2.The writers kept everyone in confusion the whole time but they didn't got messed till the end.
3. sometimes Do Won aka Yoon Shi Yoon spoiled the scene with his acting but that wasn't that noticeable
4. Seo kyung aka Kyung Soo jin i really can't believe she did to fell like i really didn't from her much but yaa she was really good.
5. Miss.Oh's acting is also appreciable she played her role really well(Lee Hnag Na)
6.cliffhangers in this drama are real torture like seriously just binge watch.

starting will be confusing but once you start understanding both the worlds you'll also how they are connected. The cast isn't that famous or something like that but story is phenomenal. really wish you guys to watch it. i wrote this review because many people don't know about this drama yet so i want you to give it a shot:)

~END~
