Ok, so I knew about this drama long before I ever decided to watch it. It has it's typical "bang my head in the wall" moments where someone just barely misses something that would end the drama much quicker. But that is to be expected from a Korean drama. As a much slower paced drama, there may be some people who would find this annoying. I however, find a certain charm in that slower-paced, but never lacking in story, drama.

It doesn't take long before the audience figures out all the truths in the drama but the writing is exception in my opinion. The acting of the cast, especially the main leads, was well worth watching. The kids of the drama, in the first few episodes, also do an amazing job acting out their parts. The filming and ost of the drama are beautiful and touching.

I gave the acting a 9 because the second female lead can sometimes frustrate the viewer with her general lack of common sense/courtesy. Rewatch value is a 6 because it is a slower-paced drama that is amazing the first time around. The second time around you know all that's going to happen and will just skip the irrelevant parts and watch the parts you remember and loved.

I recommend giving this drama a chance if you enjoy the korean romcom genre with a lot of melodrama.

One Of The Best Korean Dramas In Years....

There has been a noticeable recent wave of South-Korean horror shows in recent years, and there’s no denying that OCN’s The Guest (2018) is not a byproduct of this recent trend.

Yet despite this label as a contemporary drama, The Guest truly plays upon something timelessly classic within its universal horror theme of primeval and the unknown through suspense and dread.

The story premise revolves around our main Male lead, psychic Hwa Pyung ( Kim Dong Wook) chasing after a malevolent demon called Sohn who disturbingly drives people insane. Under the non-conspicuous job occupation as a taxi driver, Hwa- Pyung’s journey to finding Sohn seemingly becomes closer when he is invariably connected with the mysterious Catholic priest Choi Yoon ( Kim Jae Wook) and cynical detective Kang Gil Young ( Jung Eun Chae) ; all of whom have mysterious links to Sohn through their pasts.

As our main lead,Kim Dong Wook seems an unlikely choice to play our main hero, however, his sense of genuine sincerity and anguish in his performance truly captured the essence of Hwa Pyung as a sincere and scarred individual. Alongside Dong Wook costar Kim Jae Wook’s role as the aloof and taciturn Catholic Priest Choi Yoon, truly captured the intrinsic and deeper questioning of a man shaped by traumas. Although less in the limelight than her fellows costars, Eun Chae channelled also the genuine cynicism and doubt of one of the few female officers in her department as well as an individual led by logic.

Yet beyond some more questionable acting performances by some members of the cast, The Guest’s beauty lay within its characterisation; Choi Yoon initially distrusts Hwa Pyung just as much as Eun Chae is doubtful of the “ mumbo jumbo” beliefs of the “ superstitious” duo on their first initial meeting. It is only when the entire trio are forced to rely heavily upon one another, that they begin to develop genuine friendships and bonds, trialed and tested repeatedly throughout the drama’s later revelations.

Adding to theme of horror , The Guest refreshingly did not rely upon cheap jump scares to generate the genuine bloodcurdling moments when demons transcended beyond the realms of nightmares to reality.

In one scene in particular when Hwa- Pyung is walking through a hospital, the specific usage of lucid lighting and an eery blue glow in the background will truly send shivers down your spine before the climax of the scene. In another scene in the show, Yoon’s quick walk down a district street in Seoul becomes contorted with distorted streetlights, a clear and purposefully ironic homage to The Exorcist (1973).

Although not flawless from several moments of lacklustre acting and undeniably slow pacing in earlier episodes, The Guest was undeniably a brilliant show filled with intriguing storyline, characters and true spine tingling moments as well. Certainly one of the best Korean Dramas in a long time.

The business part of this drama is kinda heavy and a foreign subject to me, but ever since the 1st ep I compared the terminology of this to a medical drama; they have their own acronyms and dynamics that I know zero things about, so that shouldn't stop others from watching them.

It shouldn't be a spoiler to say that there's murder and suspense in this drama. now it's not the main focus of this and they don't try to investigate, but that tension adds alot to the structure of the story..
the simple version of the story is "power struggle", good vs bad, greed, and the basic "they are trying to steal our money"..

that tension and the characters are what made me stay, I honestly love how layered and realistic the characters are, Lee Hye Joon is the most level headed normal female lead in dramaworld.

Lee Sung Min is honestly such an amazing actor! I mean maybe korea always knew/admit that, but in some ways I feel like he's underrated or maybe he just focuses more on movies. but his character here was just so beautiful.
it's like the events of this drama didn't just randomly taint him, and I feel like that happens alot of characters like him, they are like driven by hate/evilness...
basically, no one was the "bad" guy, no one was evil, but also no one was pure good/righteous. they were just people driven by their background. their past made them who they were and that just means the writers did a really great job making them. I first gave the story a 8.5 becasue the business aspects were lost on me, but the characters actions and words/dialog made me change it.

and yes, Eugene Han.. rather than saying he's the reason I continued this drama, I prefer to say "he was the cherry on top". he's such an intriguing character, and I'll only say this as a fangirl, but he is the cutest xD

also, the pace of this drama is actually really nice, like by ep12 usually most dramas go downhill, but here it actually feels like a solid 12eps have passed and we have enough time for the rest of the story. it doesn't feel draggy or rushed.

and I'd actually either love a 2nd season, one episode of romance based plot with these characters, or a romance drama written by these writers. honestly, if only they focus on their characters in a romance genre instead of following the usual patterns xD

the ost of this drama is gold! I mean they have Elaine singing the main song so~
I rarely rewatch things, but I kinda have a nostalgic feel about this, I miss the characters so I might rewatch it one day xD

for the storyline of this drama is easy to follow, the story is simple and fun to watch. tells the story of a young boy's love in his school days. not much conflict and pure love of young people. I like the work of this drama director, all of his drama works are good and hits. for the main character to have strong chemistry, they match each other, also supported by supporting actors who have pretty good acting. I've rewatched this drama several times because Kluendao's relationship is very cute, especially in episodes 7 & 8 when they started dating. I highly recommend this drama if you want to see a BL series with a light story and full of love and cuteness.

A little Ray of Light Got Through

This is not for the weak of heart. This will shatter you. This series is a beautiful porcelain teapot with millions of cracks in it. It has lost its shine and now its disgusting, seeming almost worthless. Whatever it lets out is dark, vile, broken, hard to stomach and hurts to comprehend. But every once in a while, a little ray of sunshine manages to get through the cracks, and although what comes out is a mess, chaotic, dysfunctional and unhealthy, it's also bright, happy, full of life, hopes, dreams, and above all else, it's beautiful. It's a beautiful mess that comes with facing a storm and coming out a winner. The rainbow after the storm,

This drama made me cry. Made me question the love of a parent and humanity. I'm not going to write a long review, cuz I am sure everyone felt how I did when I watched this, so no more words are needed. We all know, Haoren and Chihiro's story would stay with us for a long time.

Applauds to everyone who worked on this one, they all did well bringing this to life in a way that touched the viewers.

I didn't expect anything from this drama while I started to watch it. But this drama really surprised me.
The drama contains 18 episodes, 9 minutes each. So if everything is summed up it makes 3 whole episodes.
Most of the short Chinese historical dramas doesn't have a solid political background and plot twists. It mostly centers around the chemistry of the main leads. So like any other short drama I also didn't expect much. But surprisingly this 3 episode drama covered both political solid story as well as showed chemistry between the main leads which I hardly found in any 24 or 36 episode dramas.

Short dramas generally doesn't have that much eye-catching costumes. This drama also didn't have varity in costume but the designs of the few costumes that were seen were very good especially of the Emperor and the empress's.

Of course, due to the short period of time the story was not executed perfectly. Since the time was numbered the story had to go fast and it didn't get enough time to develop the characters. But if it was given a few more episodes to execute properly I am sure it would have make a wonderful story and may have become one of my favorite historical drama.

By the way, this drama is available in YouTube.

Doubt - blinds

"When you truly want to understand someone, but you can't, you end up having doubts. You can't trust your own judgement but you can't help it. "

Kicking off 2025 with this absolute gem -easily the best decision I made in 2024. It’s gripping, magical, and downright thrilling -I was hooked the whole way. The acting? Flawless. And the cinematography? Absolute fire! With a show that defines itself with every episode here you really trade deals with doubt.

When your dad’s a criminal profiler, what do you master? Lying like a pro. Doubt dives into the tangled web of a father-daughter duo who share nothing but a million lies. As they tackle a case that only deepens their divide, the daughter becomes the prime suspect for her own profiler dad. Intrigue, tension, and a family in freefall - sold!

Patience isn’t really my thing, and waiting for things to unfold? Definitely not me. But this show shattered all my theories at every step. Some twists you might see coming, others you simply buy into because the narrative sells it so well. It’s not your typical adrenaline-fueled thriller - it thrives in unthinkable layers, driven by the intricate web of human relationships. And let me tell you, it’s executed with absolute perfection, down to every last detail!

The acting, the gloomy cinematography, the emotional chaos in every character, and a storyline that ties it all together seamlessly—it’s a masterpiece. Just when you think you’ve figured out how things will unfold, you might be right, but the journey to get there? Oh, it’s something else. Sign me up to endorse all such shows !

But I must say Doubt isn’t for everyone - its slow-burn style might test thrill-seekers. But for those who crave psychological depth and intricate storytelling, it’s unmatched. With deliberate pacing that builds suspense while keeping you hooked, Doubt cements itself as a must-watch in its genre.

Watching it while it was still airing in China, so perhaps I did not get the best quality of the video. I remember fondly this drama captivates me to continue watching. It has such a great ratings in China and very fast the hype spread to other countries. People talking so much about this drama.

For me, was watching for the sake of very popular well known actors / actresses. Next the beautiful setup, the beautiful costumes, the beautiful OST make this watchable.

As for the plot, understand follow a book, not really my type of plot but ok to watch. Not extremely exciting either. Sometimes I do not really understand the story, quite profound. Can’t understand especially for part for Ye hua & bai Qian story.

Overall, I do not really get what captivates me in the drama to continue but I did finished the drama & even firsthand.

This drama is watchable in my view but not overly fantastic.....

Firstly i noticed how bad male lead ouji suzuka acting is. His underdog bullied era is not that sad and miserable bro looks blank. then his revenge era has no confidence and menace aura. the mma fighter play by Noritaka Hamao has better cool expression. the taekwondo fighter play by kentaro maeda who is pretty boy himself looks more creepy. Even his friend the producer play by Araki sugou has better emotions. The hamaki school bully in the webtoon he is supposed to be very hot influencers. Why the series makeup him to look delinquent from start. then even minor roles has goki maeda who has much better range of acting.. for the storyline i feel like yea it's fast and im actually immune to it coz Many jdrama has done that. But the final episodes redemption from every villains coz they support ml to fight the biggest tyrant is weird, it's not in the webtoon and too random. viral hit is supposed to focus on how they record and produce contents, it's abt influencers but this series focus too much on fights only. This is my first time I'm writing here proves how bad this live action is

Isn't “Roosevelt Game” an unusual title? Though at first glance it might look odd, once one learns the context things grow clearer. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, that famous American president, adored baseball—so much its terms often featured in his legendary radio addresses! But though he cherished the game as a whole, his favorite situation could be described as a close call; a terrific match was one, in his words, “that guarantees the fans a combined score of not less than fifteen runs, divided about eight to seven.” So a terrific drama like this one, with its engrossing tale of determination, close calls, and unexpected reversal… well, it could bear no better name.

There are actually two story lines in Roosevelt Game: one concerning the ailing manufacturer Aoishima Seisakujo, the other its beloved but struggling promotional baseball team. Both are written solidly enough to stand alone, but complement each other so well why should one want them to? Together, these plots form an exciting masterpiece—though I avoid using that word if it can be helped. Often the events in one half relate to those in the other—but without the heavy-handedness this narrative device often carries. Some parallels are so subtle as to create a feeling of “Ah!” in the viewer when they are realized. And, as one might expect from the team behind Hanzawa Naoki, an overall atmosphere of intensity and forward motion permeates both elements—business and baseball alike. It has all the intrigue and heart-thumping one could wish; several times I found myself exclaiming aloud or nearly jumping upright, no exaggeration.

Because they share an author in Jun Ikeido and even directors, it is impossible to talk about this drama without referencing Hanzawa Naoki. But please, do yourself justice before coming in: don’t expect another Hanzawa Naoki, even though certain components may resemble that excellent series. Roosevelt Game, I felt, was actually an improvement on the model in many essential respects. For one, the human element was decidedly more powerful here—there were even brilliant touches of the life drama Japan so excels in. Thematic components found themselves better applied across the board, creating one solid arc rather than two. But perhaps most telling, Roosevelt Game concludes its 9-episode run satisfyingly self-contained and complete…with one less episode, and no need for continuance. As wonderful as Hanzawa Naoki was and still is (I’ve both marked highly), there’s no reason to allow it to overshadow this rare discovery in its impressive enormity.

I mentioned cinematography earlier; let me conjure it up again briefly. There are indisputable similarities to Hanzawa Naoki (again, same team); you've got the intense close-ups, dynamic angles, and unique shots. However, Roosevelt Game again sets itself apart with brighter lightning and softer colors. I also don’t believe another drama exists with such brilliant baseball footage! Though it isn't my favorite sport, I would be a liar if I said these games were not as exciting or remarkable as any action sequence in Asian television. If they used body doubles for the players, I definitely couldn't tell.

Speaking of players, what a uniformly talented cast! Enough are worth mentioning that I could write another few paragraphs on performances alone—but I won’t do that to you. Karasawa Toshiaki portrays President Hosokawa, an unpopular choice for this important seat; I am unfamiliar with him in a leading role, but he caught my eye right away. There is something of the tiger about him, his method is quiet and understated—but when he strikes, you know. Next is Kudo Asuka, another relatively new face to me and in actuality, as ace pitcher Okihara. A simple and sweet character, Kudo draws the viewer in with a mixture of gentle heroism and unassuming relatability. Be warned you may leave this drama affectionately referring to him as Oki. His wonderfully eccentric coach Daido is a scene-stealing gift via Tezuka Toru, while an executive officer occupies a similar space in the form of Sasai (a delightfully complex and stormy Eguchi Yosuke). So many more I’d love to mention, but please meet them in the drama instead!

For the lack of a more elegant term, the soundtrack is killer. The compositions, exquisitely arranged by Hattori Takayuki (Hanzawa Naoki, Shinsengumi!, Nodame Cantabile) are to absolutely to die for. I am not joking when I say that I've scrambled to find the Roosevelt Game soundtrack for purchase. Though almost entirely instrumental (with a few dramatic exceptions), the songs cannot be stopped from creeping into the brain. They are of an almost universally cinematic quality, from the stirring introduction and intrigue themes to anthems of crushing defeat and spirited victory. If you love string instruments, you’ll be in heaven especially.

One final warning: Roosevelt Game is frighteningly addictive. I finished the entire thing in one sitting—on a work night no less, and I almost want to watch it again right away. Take care when you start!

Who run the WORLD! GIRLS

This is a story of 3 women that refused to accept their tragic fate and pursue their dream to be successful businesswomen. Pan er who's witty and a very good manager, San Niang who's a good cook, and Yin Zhang a pipa master. Together they embark on the journey to the Capital to be one of the most respected business owners out there.

Strength:
1. Character growth- All their struggles and hardships became the window of their character and attitude to face those people who belittle them.
2. Natural act of love- Definitely my standard drama on how to act like a normal couple. ZP and GQF show how to deal with the problems, how to support each other as well as the physical contact between them. Just a perfect way how a couple hugs and a kiss. YES, viewers! They kiss like they are deeply in love with each other.
3. Aesthetic view and costume- Every scene was perfect even and the costume really fits them well..

Weakness;
1. I think they can stretch it until 50 episodes just to tie up the relationship between GQF's father and Minister Qi, it looks like they rush it since it has a limited number of episodes.

But overall it was an enjoyment to watch... I purchased the express just to finish it and it's worth every penny. All the characters really did a great job!! :)

Even If It’s Propaganda — It Doesn’t Change The Fact That It Happened

If you’re watching Dead to Rights (南京照相馆) expecting a safe, dramatized war story, you’re in for a brutal wake-up call.

Based on real events during the 1937 Nanjing Massacre, the film follows a postman, A Chang, who pretends to be a photo developer for the Japanese military to survive. Inside this false identity, he secretly turns the photo studio into a temporary refuge for Chinese civilians and soldiers. But in the face of unforgivable violence and horror, A Chang risks everything. Smuggling people to safety and preserving photographic evidence of the atrocities.

The story and visuals are brutally honest. This film does not shy away from the horror. It doesn’t soften the truth to make it easier to watch. Instead, it forces you to sit in the reality of one of the darkest chapters in modern history and to understand it for what it was: genocide, terror, survival, and silent resistance.

The performances in Dead to Rights are just as unforgettable. Every actor delivers with such rawness and restraint that it’s easy to forget you’re watching a movie. There’s no overacting here, just honest, human reactions to inhuman cruelty. I have never jump-scared in a movie before… but the tension in this film had me on edge the entire time. It’s not a horror movie, but the fear feels so real that your body reacts anyway. This isn’t just a film you watch but it’s one you feel in your bones.

But beyond the emotional weight, Dead to Rights is also visually stunning in the most haunting way. The cinematography is rich, atmospheric, and deeply intentional. Every frame felt like a carefully composed photograph, echoing the film’s themes of memory and documentation. The visuals don’t just show violence. They capture emotion, stillness, grief.

Some are calling this film CCP propaganda but honestly, that kind of reaction says more about the discomfort of facing truth than the film itself. You don’t have to take the movie’s word for it. A simple Google search will show you the reality. There are real photographs from the time: babies impaled on swords, civilians shot point-blank in the streets, bodies piled like garbage. These aren't exaggerated for film but they're documented, and they’re horrifying.

Because of Japan’s censorship and silence around this part of its history, many in Japan still grow up unaware of what truly happened in Nanjing. That silence is not just painful, it's dangerous. It allows wounds to stay open and accountability to fade. Dead to Rights may be confronting, but it’s confronting truth. And often, the real thing was worse. Far worse ... than anything a film could show.

There’s also been criticism about young children watching this film and coming away with anti-Japanese sentiment. And while it’s a complex issue, I think we need to ask: why are we blaming the Chinese government for children’s reactions… but not the parents who took them to see a film this raw, this heavy? This is not a movie for kids and that’s clear. But the responsibility lies with the adults who chose to bring them, not the filmmakers who told the truth.

And even if this was CCP propaganda... it wouldn’t change the fact that it happened. The events of the Nanjing Massacre are real, recorded, and undeniable. No amount of political framing erases the truth of what survivors endured. What matters now is that we remember, that we educate, and that we don’t look away.

In the end, Dead to Rights doesn’t just tell a story. It preserves memory. It confronts silence. It says, “Look. Don’t look away. Someone lived this. Someone died here. You can’t pretend it didn’t happen.”

And for that, I believe this film is not only necessary but it’s a masterpiece of remembrance.

Your Dear Tea Farm that went off the tracks episode 5 (watch suggestions)

Overall: from the trailer I thought this would be spicy, from episodes 1-4 I thought this was a slice of life but then in episodes 5 and 6 it became a soap opera. Based on a book which I haven't read and I reviewed the series on its own merits. 8 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on iQIYI https://www.iq.com/play/your-dear-daddy-episode-1-v94mtn7i5g?lang=en_us

Content Warning: non con picture taking/sharing, past (intimate partner abuse, suicide), mental health struggles, attempted murder, blood, beaten up, manipulation, emotional abuse

Watch Suggestions (to focus more on the m/m couple and less on tea farm life, also takes out several content warnings)
- watch episode 1
- episode 2 skip 20:20-24, skip 40:10-46
- episode 3 watch 18:15 to 20:40 and 40:15-45
- episode 4 watch beginning-1:25, 11:30-17:50, 22-35, 37:15-45
- skip episodes 5 and 6
- episode 7 watch 8-28 and 37:45-end
- episode 8 watch 8:10-11:45 and 32:10-end

What I Liked
- Saitharn knew what he liked in the first episode (though with information we learned later, I wonder if it was more of a trauma response thing...)
- easy to understand premise
- get to see Fluke & Gap again!

Room For Improvement
- comedy sound effects did not make things funny
- this was sold as a romance but the leads didn't talk until 18 minutes in of episode 3 and only had a few minutes together for the entire episode, suddenly it veered into lakorn territory in episode 5
- there was zero steamy time in the finale?!!! wtf?! the cutie young guys had barely any screen time and a whole bunch of trauma just magically healed?
