The incredibly inscrutable ML

I think the problem with this show is that while the story wants to portray the ML, Feng Teng, as emotionally reserved and aloof, possibly somewhat due to his parent's death, they have gone overboard. It's one thing to make him difficult to read by the FL, Shanshan. But he is near impossible to read even by the viewing audience. Which makes him very, very hard to empathize with. Especially since many of his decisions do not make sense from a normal healthy male romantic sense. His inability to communicate is not a new disability for C-Drama ML's, but he's taking it to an extreme that just isn't healthy and certainly doesn't make him attractive as a romantic partner. Communication is a hugely important part of any healthy relationship so who would want to be in a relationship with someone who can't seem to communicate? He keeps leaving her hanging out to dry, gaslit with no information about what he's doing or thinking and making her vulnerable to gossip and rumors again and again. Oh, and my goodness, could Shanshan's two besties be any worse at relationship advice? They are both so negative and always talking her down and predicting the worst for her relationship! Thank goodness Manager Yan (Feng Yue's husband) stepped in at one point with some really encouraging words and advice to her!

how i wish i liked this more

the story has so much potential, but even with the good acting and chemistry between the two leads, its difficult to ignore the plot holes and the inconsistencies with the characterization. hopefully jihan and jeongyou would "meet again" for a new series, but with better writing this time. maybe third time's a charm?

i usually just skip the starting credits cause i don't want any spoilers - but this time i watched & i knew there would be a 2nd couple. finally in this ep we see the cop, now wonder who his partner gonna be - a criminal? also law enforcement?!? 5 more eps to go & romance wise there is nothing from either couple. even though given the route he mains have chosen - idk how they gonna end up together with any kind of future. not with a happily ever after that i foresee. hope this doesn't turn tragic. ********there was a intro to a lot of new faces in this ep, wonder where it's gonna take us & how it's gonna effect the mains plot. but on a whole enjoyed this ep more then the previous one - *******************************************************************************side note: really love Chu San's father. he is sweet but also funny - especially all his interactions with Liu Yi.

the more i think about it, the more i don't…

the more i think about it, the more i don't get why Qing Long agreed to Liu Yi's request. given the age gap between him & the siblings he should've told Liu Yi that he could only see them as his children or some such... it would've been better then force that marriage on himself & Liu Yi's sister, making them both miserable. & it's not like i think she wouldn't have been a broken person - mentally, if she hadn't married Qing Long. even if she had ended up in a happy marriage, she was broken (maybe it happened in her childhood) either way, she would still suffer regardless of how loving her husband was. so maybe her end would always be the same - broken. but still Qing Long did a disservice to both siblings by agreeing to that marriage. ***********this ep was cute on a whole, but idk why i felt it was kinda bland in comparison to the previous 2 eps. maybe just me as everyone else is still loving it, hope the next ep picks up cause i kinda lost interest.

The Ghost King and the General Marked by Fate

First ImpressionA dark and compelling opening with a haunting female lead and a male lead whose fate already feels sealed.Episode ThoughtsThe episode introduces us to the female lead, revealed to be the Ghost King — a born spirit who experiences the world without her five senses. Everything around her is grey, and this absence shapes her cold, transactional way of living. We’re immediately placed into a scene of devastation as she walks through a village that has been slaughtered. A father begs her to save his son, and she agrees — but only in exchange for his life. It’s a chilling moment, not because she’s cruel, but because this is simply how she understands the world. The male lead enters soon after, a general who has already lost many of his soldiers. Despite this, he stands firm, declaring that as long as he is there, no further harm will come to the village. His presence is steady and commanding. He carries a mysterious sword, one that may hold the key to restoring her senses. The female lead quickly notices it, and it becomes clear that both the sword and the general himself are tied to what she wants. What makes this episode especially compelling is the underlying fate between them — she is a Ghost King, a being outside normal human experience, while he is a general already marked for death. Their meeting feels inevitable. There are moments where she plays weak and acts cute around him, which come across slightly awkward, but it’s obvious she’s always calculating. Despite everything, she isn’t truly evil — if she were, she would have taken what she wanted without hesitation.Character NotesFL (Ghost King): A born spirit who lacks the five senses, shaping her detached and transactional worldview. Morally grey, but not inherently cruel — just fundamentally different.ML (General): Strong, composed, and unwavering. Even with heavy losses, he stands as a protector. The fact that he is fated for death adds a quiet weight to his character.Supporting: The father’s sacrifice reinforces the harsh reality of this world.Final ThoughtsA strong opening episode that sets up a fascinating dynamic between a Ghost King and a doomed general. The mix of fate, power, and moral ambiguity makes this a very promising start.Favourite MomentThe male lead standing firm and declaring the village would be safe with him there.Trope Check • Ghost King / spirit female lead • Doomed / fated male lead • Morally grey heroine • Strong, protective general • Mysterious artefact (powerful sword) • Fate-bound connection • Fantasy / wuxia setting

i will never get guys, like that that dude…

i will never get guys, like that that dude that's being little b*tch towards Moo, cause he thinks Moo got accepted cause of his "connections" - i.e his mother. if u think he is connected, antagonizing him is the way to go?!? u NOT worried his connections r strong enough to prevent u from getting kicked u out, if u keep insult the person they r backing??? whack logic of a small minded moron. ***********************************************************************************************************************given the kiss we got in the previous ep i didn't think there would be anything intense between the mains - i stand corrected. that was hella hot & i felt Moo's disappointment & acceptance when Kang pulled back. Keen is a really talented actor - also i don't get why everyone coming to Kang & telling him to bow out. everyone should mainly be talking to Moo. even though he is naïve & have a very bighearted POV about everything, he isn't a child & he has been warned - it's his choice & he has to live his life. everyone can advice him till the cows come home but they can't force him into anything doesn't want. i just hope his choice to go public doesn't back fire - cause he is right - he has a right to love whomever he wants & just cause he gains fans or fames doesn't he needs their approval to live his life. even though a lot of fans don't agree with this sentiment. *************************the 2nd couple - in spite of they both walking on egg shells around each other i kinda liked how their story is progressing - given the confession, they both not sure how to be around each other & it will take them time to adapt & evolve. that isn't a bad thing. so i personally enjoyed how everything unfolded.

what a sweet freakin ep - it was so pure & innocent yet filled with loved. I really love Moo, he is the MVP of this BL, which is funny considering i was worried in the 1st ep he would turn tedious cause he is goofy & cringe when it comes to his fixation with becoming an idol. but the sec he fell in love he turned into the greenest of flags. & when Kang put up boundaries he respected them & yet didn't give up. really loved this ep - it was a balm to the soul & so healthy. am glad that by the end they both achieved their goals & r gonna move forward with their relationship & not part ways (the long distance relationship threat). *******************************************************************************************************************************the 2nd couple was interesting lol... that was quite a shock Tae got at the end but it was about time to come clean. now lets hope they get over the hurdle of this revelation & either end up together or return to being bff's. losing a good friend would just be sad.

Tempers flare

When they get to the kiln they discuss the difficulties in firing and the placement of bricks in reconstruction. Since it is an ancient skill and modern kilns are much easier to regulate, there is debate on the wisdom of the expense of firing it up and keeping repaired. Do the benefits outweigh the cost.?This skill is unique and the biggest argument in its favor is that the pottery from this kiln will be unique. Nothing else compare with it. The master of the kiln has only one apprentice and he doesn’t want him using the kiln. He is utilized most as the master’s caregiver and while he thinks he has been giving his apprentice wisdom, the apprentice is not in agreement. They are at odds because a porcelain piece the apprentice created, was not only rejected but thrown to the ground to shatter. Xu Xiao goes to talk to the apprentice and XiaoCen stays and chats with the master. Both have a good conversation but find they have inadvertently taken sides. XiaoCen understands the master because he is very like her mother and this is where Xu Xiao gets in trouble with his return comment. What was interesting this episode was Xiao Cen making their relationship public and YueXin not sure if she wants an older bf at all. He very sweetly confessed but he headed immediately to first kiss which she was not ready for. She tries to hide from him the next day but he goes to her directly and tells her to be clear if she doesn’t like him so she won’t feel pressured. She fears that him being older means more experience with girls and she doesn’t know how she feels about that. She hasn’t rejected him but she is not sure how to accept him either. Their teacher noted the various couples and just grinned at them all. Xu Xiao and XiaoCen overcome their awkwardness after disagreement and talk it out. He apologizes and she agrees he was right. He has the apprentice’s porcelain shards in his bag and I am hoping these two can work their magic repairing it for him. What sets this apart from other college dramas is the cinematography of the area and beautiful porcelain shots. The class is a fun group of students who learn and have fun together. There are small cliques of special friends but they do not exclude others and this group is refreshing in that they get along collectively without jealousy or bias. They individually and collectively work to learn new skills and to become capable young adults. This is simply pleasant and wholesome viewing.
