Mindbending - A Brave New World

I enjoyed The Great Flood very much. The concept is such a bold idea, and although reminiscent of many other stories, translated well with its own spin, advancing the genre. In otherwords, you will have to watch it to find out exactly what I mean.

There are many touch points along the way in this movie. They range from the love of single mothers, through to the challenges of being a parent, the exploration of human nature in a crisis and the future of humankind.

The acting is very good. Our super mum is very human, very believable. Her counterpart, at first appears heartless. However, as events unfold, he helps our super mum become more resilient.

I thought the CGI was of a good standard. However, from my experience, some of the flood sequences portrayed were not quite right. However, we know through studies into sea levels, they can rise very quickly, regardless of the cause.

The movie is mind bending because not all is as it seems. The Great Flood sits well within the sci-fi pantheon, proof yet again that the Koreans are evolving science fiction at a good level.

The Great Flood: An Average Sci-Fi Wrapped in a Disaster Movie Title

I really thought it would be a full-on disaster thriller like Flu, Tidal Wave, or The Tower—raw panic, survival instincts, and humans fighting nature at its worst.
Instead, the movie slowly drifts away from the idea of a flood disaster and dives into AI, modern science, world destruction, and a futuristic concept of human evolution.

The title promises one thing, but the story delivers something completely different. The “flood” feels more like a background excuse than the core of the narrative. The sudden shift toward sci-fi philosophy and AI with an emotional engine feels forced and confusing rather than thrilling.

I wouldn’t say the movie is bad, but it definitely fails to meet expectations set by its title and promotion. The pacing is uneven, the emotional connect is weak, and the sci-fi ideas are not explored deeply enough to feel impactful.

For me, it’s a one-time watch—an average sci-fi film with nothing truly memorable.
I went in excited, expecting edge-of-the-seat survival drama, but walked out feeling slightly fooled by the title 😂.

heads up not a disaster movie...

The title of the movie can be quite misleading cause I thought it was a survival disaster movie. However, suddenly they start introducing the sci-fi elements which just throws it off pace....my focus was on the flood but now the story is completely different and the flood becomes redundant.

*Spoilers ahead*

Basically the story is in a way showing what AI deep learning/training looks like. The FL is training AI children to make an emotional connection through the repeated trainings. This is what the company believes will save mankind. Just as how she needs to make a child she also needs to make a mother. The training scenario given to the mother was finding her lost child in the middle of the flood. How the AI trains is situational training basically (something like supervised learning). So they made this concept into a movie.

Hence the process of finding her son in the flood just loops and loops with different scenarios until they finally succeed.

The story was not strong enough for me to find any emotional bond with the characters. So this might not be everyone's cup of tea!

This is a fever dream, with incredible visuals : artsy, obscure, lenghty

This movie was quite an incredible cinematic experience. It was really thought-provoking but also quite lengthy and difficult to digest in one sitting, which I did.

The story in itself felt like a fever dream, jumping the viewer from vignette to vignette with some striking visuals. Each story had its own graphic palette of colors and tones, its own way of filmmaking...The care on the esthetics, the meticulous attention to details, was the best part of the film. However, while the craft being outstanding, there was also a lack of clarity in the storytelling that felt a bit frustrating to me, making the viewing experience also somewhat tiresome. I wish they would have done the set up and the ending in a less conceptual way, to brought together better the whole movie.

Acting was really good with the minimalist cast doing a solid job. Especially Jackson Yee, who I didn't know and who was incredible in this. I am astonished at how good he is and the range he demonstrated. I will definitely be looking forward to watching him in more roles.

I would recommend this movie to people that enjoy artsy, conceptual and experimental movie. If you want a good brain scratch, this is the movie for you. It is for sure not without flaws in its storytelling and pacing, but it really leaves a strong lasting impression on the viewer who is bound to be left with many questions and thoughts.

First movie about professional dancers

I loved it! There was not a single moment where I thought it's boring. The story and chemistry were superb. I really felt the raw emotions in the scene where they kissed in the hotel room. The actors were really handsome and actresses beautiful. It's the first movie I have watched about professional dancers. All the dances and dancers were really captivating. The music was good too. I really liked that they decided to add 'sway'. I saw a youtube edit about '10dance' with 'sway' some time ago and thought it fits perfectly.
I really hope there will be '10dance 2' where we get to see more of their relationship.

Im writing this in the year 2025. I watched this with my friend and it was confusing. The deaths of the students didnt relate to the main story. Like at the end, it revealed who's behind everything, but it still didnt tell why did he do it. like we know bc a girl is dead and it turns out to be his daughter, doesnt mean he have to kidnap students and kill them. they did nothing wrong. if he wanna revenge for his daughter, he could have just kill the teacher who killed his daughter, instead of torturing students. honestly, the movie was ok, its just confusing.
if you like this type of horror movie, me and my friend will recommend. but if you dont, but still youre curious of how this movie goes, be prepare to waste 1.5 hrs of your life.
thank you.

(and i wanna watch this bc of kim bum lol, so sad bro didnt get a happy ending :(()

i was a bit disappointed. [sort of spoilers]

When I watched the trailer, I was hooked. After I saw the trailer, I discovered that it was based on a manga, so I went ahead and read it. In the manga, the sexual tension, their chemistry, and the overall storyline were top-notch. I was very excited and was looking forward to how they were gonna portray these, especially the sexual tension.

And just as I feared. lots of parts, AND I MEAN A LOT of scenes, were not included in the movie. The movie did not include any tension before the "mystery of the black dressed yagami-san."

They did not include the part where Latin-Shinya got so happy after dancing as the woman with Ballroom-Shinya. Manga Latin-Shinya was jumping up and down because he felt like a princess. They just showed that Latin-Shinya only understood that the woman needs to be fully supported by the man.

the movie fully cut off Lantin-Shinya's family issues. The issues with his dad and his maternal family in Cuba, with 9 sisters, the reason why he didn't go international. The movie didn't show how Latin-Shinya rebelled against his father. How his opponents thought he deserved to be in the first place.

They didn't include the sponsor that Ballroom-Shinya got for Latin-Shinya, and they fought because of this.

the movie only showed that Latin-Shinya found Ballroom-Shinya dancing in the snow, but they didn't show that they also danced in the snow together.

the movie didn't show that Latin-Shinya was having a gay-awakening, although he said he likes girls.

where are Norman and angie? Norman was supposed to teach Latin-Shinya? I really wanted to see his Cheetahs.

the Latin world champions were missing too.

I only read up to vol 6. But I found so much lackings in the movie. Other viewers who didn't read the manga are questioning the lack of relationship development.

No, No, you cannot miss this absolute MASTERPIECE!!

Ryoma - A wave of Passion and Obsession
Keita- A storm of Love to calm Ryoma

If you are a BL fan and go with experiments in BL stories, you cannot miss 10 Dance. What a lovely and different story writer come up with. Lead actors have swallowed their characters completely. You cannot miss a single moment and just crave for more and more. From start to finish you adore the pair and their dancing on the floor and off the floor.

Didn't knew Japanese BL directors will do this wonder and make a movie which is out of box. I am suck in Ryoma's wordings, '2 & 3 & 4...' , the way he breath, the way he dance, the way he move, Gosh, 'm already in love with him. 💓😍

When Keita and Ryoma dance, no one can stop. Their chemistry and rhythm is outstanding.

I didn’t watch 10 Dance. I fell into it—and I haven’t climbed out since. This movie doesn’t ask for your attention; it claims it, grips it, pulls you onto the dance floor and refuses to let go. Every step, every breath between Shinya Sugiki and Shinya Suzuki feels deliberate, intimate, dangerously close. The tension isn’t loud—it’s controlled, restrained, and that’s what makes it unbearable in the best way.

Dance here isn’t performance; it’s confession. Ballroom is elegance barely holding desire back, while Latin explodes with heat, sweat, and hunger. The way their bodies learn each other before their hearts do? Obsessive. The camera lingers like it knows we don’t want to look away. And the silence between them—God, the silence—is louder than dialogue.

This film understands yearning. It understands what it means to want someone through discipline, rivalry, admiration, and denial. The chemistry isn’t rushed, it’s earned, and by the time emotions finally surface, you’re already ruined.

10 Dance isn’t just about love or dance—it’s about surrender. To passion. To obsession. To the undeniable pull of someone who becomes your rhythm. Once it starts, you won’t want it to stop. And when it ends, you’ll crave it all over again. 📌🔥

Love makes it whole

Now I will write a full review but have to get this one out there. This movie I waited, I sat, and I got… boy this was a good one. Everything is there and so on. Acting, editing, score, passion… etc.

I am not surprised this is so good considering the director of this project. I was a little scared that it wouldn’t go into the full love story, but it hit all the marks.

I only want a sequel now, that is my only short side here.

Could've been perfect, but Machida & Takeuchi is worth watching just for them.

Machida and Takeuchi performed beautifully in this movie. One specializing in ballroom and the other in Latin American dance. As someone who knows little about either, it was interesting to see their perspective on their craft. One scene in particular stood out to me where Machida's character places Takeuchi's in a stance showing the perspective of a women's position in ballroom dance. The endurance, pain, and strength that is hidden away behind a seemingly effortless performance where Machida exposes the audacity of Takeuchi's attitude without considering their partner's perspective. It was so intriguing to see the way they approach their art in different ways while challenging each other.

Both actors embodied their characters well and the tension and emotion between them is so visible. You dont need them to speak to see meaning behind their silence. But, they leave you on edge, then pull back, then they step closer, only to leave you behind wanting more. It's a back and forth pull that for me didn’t quite satisfy me at the end. But if we were to continue this metaphor, they are quite literally dancing back and forth around their feelings. While i wanted them to cross the line a bit more with each other, it's not enough to completely deter my enjoyment of the movie. I accept the tease. But understand that I didn't necessarily needed anything physical from them. They maintain an emotional distance between each other. Sometimes it cracks, but it left me wanting them to cross the emotional threshold a bit more.

What bothered me is actually the little things that, when stacked together, really annoyed me. It's the unnatural acting of the background characters. The onlookers gossiping very loudly almost as if they are twirling their mustache and cartoonishly giving a play by play of "did you hear about what happened to his ex-girlfriend" or "it's ashame he lost by a small margin" or "this is no competition....it's a brawl!!!" harrumph. Who says that? The reading-from-a-script-like commentary in the background to rile the lead characters to overhear the chatter.

Another example of this is Martha (a mother figure and mentor to Machida's character) who you have no emotional connection to and gets a brief introduction into the story. Yet she delivers a significant message of the movie. Her voice repeatedly echoed at various points throughout the movie reminding us that "Dance is neither about technique or stamina, Love is what makes it whole." I feel myself cringing again.

These actors are more than capable of communicating this message without having it spelled out and overtly lectured by a character that shows up for mere seconds. It felt cheesy and unnecessary against the very raw emotions the actors themselves were delvering. Also, the music choices didn't quite do it for me at times. Like the very overplayed music of Korean pianist Yiruma's River Flows in You when they turn on the music for the first time when practicing ballroom dancing. A significant milestone in their sessions together and all I could think about is wishing they played music that isnt so recognizable at times. I realize this might just be my association in this particular case. Dont get me wrong, the music is beautiful and beloved. But there was a time in Korea that it got so overplayed that they used it in gag concerts or shows for comedic effect that in a significant scene like this i got distracted.

But, I'll end with a good note. That first snow scene was so beautifully done and so iconic to me. I loved everything about it and I played it back an unhealthy amount of times. It will stick with me for a while❄️. Overall not a perfect movie for me, but well worth seeing these actors perform.

A solid 8 - not perfect but worth the watch

The actors are fantastic. Mature, seasoned, in their own element. brilliant casting.

The story itself is fantastical. nuanced and respctful to the ballroom dance scene and culture, yet boundary pushing to where it makes you ask “could that happen in real life”

The lack of relationship development is where this movie falls flat. I think you just need longer than a movie length to develop the tense and deep connection that they showed on screen. it sort of felt like a few time hops and the audience didn’t get to see those important moments.

but overall worth it!

Chemistry, elegance, and sexual tension.

A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR RYŌMA TAKEUCHI AND KEITA MACHIDA. The best film of 2025, no Japanese BL film will be able to surpass the beauty of 10 Dance. I loved the costumes, makeup, music, and especially the dancing and the chemistry the actors radiated.

They managed to convey so many emotions to me, and they made me want to dance, which is saying a lot because I don't like to dance hahaha. They perfectly conveyed to me the passion and dedication their characters had for dance; undoubtedly magnificent.

Ryōma Takeuchi perfectly embodied that fun and relaxed guy; you could feel the Latin vibes in his character. His character was so damn sexy, that hip movement is stuck in my head 24/7, I don't think I can ever get over it. There's no way I'll ever get over it, thank you Ryoma for giving me that beautiful scene. I barely know this actor, but honestly, he didn't disappoint. He did a great job; I loved all his scenes. The moments of anguish and his dancing were perfect. I hope to see him more in future projects.

Keita Machida this man never disappoints; any of his work is a masterpiece. Every time I see him, my perspective on him changes quite a bit; one day he's the typical careless and relaxed Japanese guy (Alice in Borderland), and the next he's a prestigious, strict and elegant dancer. I really liked the parts where he danced, and the natural way he cried and conveyed his anguish and passion for dance. I also liked it when he was sarcastic with the protagonist; it was funny, and seeing him as inexperienced when it came to Latin dancing was hilarious too, LOL. Dear, even though he danced very stiffly, I liked that he tried to move his hips. I have to admit that man looked quite sexy in his role when he got strict with his dance partner; that scene where he forces her to dress in black was so wow! I felt intimidated; my classmate's character was too strong for me to handle that particular night.

Although the ending was very open, it was fine, considering that the film is based on a manga that is still ongoing, it is understandable that they did not give a definitive ending. And I repeat, even though it was an open ending, it was perfect, I liked it, it's much better than other movies with open endings that are then awful. This one, on the contrary, only left me wanting more, wanting to know what was going to happen. I hope they make a sequel with these actors; they nailed it. Personally, I felt the movie was too short, even though it was two hours long.

This Movie Is Art

Tendance, released today on December 18, is an extraordinary cinematic experience and, without hesitation, a true visual masterpiece. From the very first moment until the final scene, the film never loses its strength or its rhythm. There is not a single minute that feels slow, empty, or uninteresting. On the contrary, it is constantly engaging, immersive, and emotionally powerful.

This movie doesn’t simply tell a story — it makes you feel it. The visuals are stunning, carefully crafted, and deeply artistic, turning every scene into something meaningful and memorable. The dance sequences are not just choreography; they are expressions of emotion, tension, and connection. Each movement feels intentional, alive, and full of passion.

The chemistry between the actors is absolutely captivating. It feels real, intense, and natural, allowing the audience to fully believe in what unfolds on screen. Their performances elevate the film to another level, making it impossible to look away.

By the time the film ends, you are left wanting more — not because it feels incomplete, but because it is so powerful that you desperately need to know what comes next. I sincerely hope there will be sequels, because this story deserves to continue. It has been a very long time since I’ve encountered a film that feels this artistic, this emotionally rich, and this unforgettable.

Tendance is not just a movie; it is art in motion. A rare and beautiful experience that stays with you long after the screen goes dark.

best movie I’ve ever watched

I never write reviews no matter how good a show or movie is but 10 Dance really made me write one. There wasn’t a single boring scene and the time flew by so fast (I say this as someone who gets bored very easily)! This movie is a work of art and I think it will stick in my head for a long time. The tension, the acting, the music, and the dancing skills were off the roof. I need to see these two act in more movies or shows together because the chemistry was too good and completely got me hooked. Good job 🤍 Hoping for more movies like this.
