Charming but too long

I'm giving this a higher score than I would because compared to many other "female general" series, this one is so much more deserving than other over-hyped ones like Legend of the Female General. The concept of female general being disguised as a male makes so much more sense here and is far more believable.

If it weren't for some hiccups in the plot flow and a sloppy ending, it would have deserved an even higher rating for its uniqueness. Our female lead is the brawn and the brains while our male lead is squishy but cultured and also intellectual. The first quarter of the series is humorous, entertaining, and an added layer of cringe. Some reviews praise how they appreciate the strength of the FL but bash on the ML for weak and incapable but I would like to differ. The FL has very obvious traits to be respected but the ML was raised in a very male-dominated, wealthy, and noble background. Sure, the ML is chauvinistic, spoiled, and spends his time not doing anything really productive. But his personality is what makes him believable as a character in the series. He grew up with a weak body, a mother who imprisoned him at home to protect him, and he grew up feeling like he could never be a "man"... so why not just enjoy life the way he is privileged to? No one ever expected anything out of him and no one ever challenged him. But his core is kind and he has the capacity to be successful. So despite his cringe ways and treatment towards the FL in the beginning, he had the most character growth out of everyone and I really appreciate this. And only when you get to the end, do you understand why the FL has been so tolerant.

The plot flow is a bit choppy because it focuses heavily on the lives of the main couple and would suddenly switch over to palace drama, then suddenly switch to another character's situation, etc. But it all ties to one another so this didn't bother me too much. The humor from the first quarter of the series dissolve into a grimmer environment with lesser sprinkles of lighthearted moments. My biggest disappointment is the last quarter of the series when the palace politics and war politics starts to get really messy. They spent way too many episodes dragging the scenarios on and the final battle was pretty cheesy. The ending was also not very fulfilling for a 60-episode series because it was super abrupt and despite all the effort to build up great relationships, they show pretty much nothing about what happened to anyone after that final battle.

I wouldn't consider this a binge show and the acting was a hit or miss at times, but I still really enjoyed the couple's development because it's quite unique. You also get a bit of mystery/detective work, political drama, war scenes, harem drama, some spicy moments, etc. It's like they blended a bunch of different genres into one series and none of which are really exceptional, but it was nice to have some variation and still have a common base to the overall plot.

The Horror Isn't that Scary

The Ghost Game follows the story of five high school students who perform a ritual to summon a ghost, hoping to create a video that will win a YouTube contest.

The premise feels similar to many previous horror movies, though the film tries to add a twist at the end. However, the script still feels lacking. It attempts to build conflict that leads to the twist, but the execution isn’t convincing enough, so the twist doesn’t feel believable. That said, some of the conflicts involving the other students work quite well.

The directing is also quite bland, the horror elements aren’t particularly scary, and the buildup in Act 1 feels overly rushed. The early scenes meant to establish the group’s chemistry fall flat and come across as boring. Still, I think it’s the best they could do with such a low-budget horror movie.

That said, the acting is solid overall. Seo Dong-hyun shines the most as Moon Gi-ho, while Yeri gives it her best effort, though this is probably her weakest performance to date.

Overall, because I kept my expectations very low after reading other reviews, it turned out to be a fun, decent watch to kill some free time.

Mantis, a movie I had never watched before. It’s a simple film about people carrying out contracts, with a separation at one point, some tension, and a forced reunification for one final goal at the end.

The story is decent, but it could clearly have been much better especially when it comes to developing the lives of the main characters or the enemies.

It’s worth watching if you have nothing else to watch!

A SCHOOL THAT’S NOT EVEN A SCHOOL, BUT A KOREAN VERSION OF THE FAVELAS

After giving my review of Season 1, here’s my take on Season 2:

A SCHOOL THAT’S NOT EVEN A SCHOOL, BUT A KOREAN VERSION OF THE FAVELAS

After the incident in Season 1, he’s forced to change schools. As usual, he ends up in a school that feels more like the favelas than an actual school… but okay, whatever. Once again, we have 65yrs old looking unemployed guys robbing 15yr old of their phones, food, and money. I’m starting to get really tired of this trope, it’s so stupid. But anyway, that’s just my personal opinion.

The story starts with the big unemployed guy with zero aura trying to intimidate him, but it doesn’t work lol. So he asks the weakest one to do it for him. Then he keeps trying every possible way to cause problems for the main character with other people. This eventually leads our protagonist to meet the basketball team, especially one particular member.

Of course, our national unemployed legend creates problems hoping it will backfire on the main character… but unfortunately for him, it ends up creating future bonds instead of tension. Then conflicts arise between our new group and a rival gang led by a student from another school.

Then comes one of the iconic scenes of Season 2: the bathroom scene, where one of the antagonists takes a photo of him, followed by a completely failed and humiliating fight attempt.

After that, we get tons of intimidation scenes and fights, but the best one is the massive fight scene with extreme violence bats, brass knuckles, knives… everyone’s completely insane!

At the end of the season, the number 1 antagonist disappears, but the second one (who has the most aura for me) remains. I hope he’ll be the main villain in Season 3.

In short, Season 2 is packed with crazy moments and a 65yr old unemployed guy who steals phones from kids at school to pay child support for his 3 children (yes, you guessed it I hate him ).

Season 2 went downhill and this movie went off the cliff.

I loved season 1. I managed to get through season 2. I started this hoping it would redeem season 2, but by the end I was watching at 1.5-2x, and I still felt like it was a waste of time.

What happened to this series? I noticed there's three screenwriters credited on MDL for season 1, two for season 2, and one for this film. Did they keep firing the best writer each time?

The best part of the movie was seeing the BTS clips in the closing credits.

The moral of the story is basically "AI bad". Everything kicks off the same tired way that we're now used to. Mio inexplicably falls for some guy she barely knows who turns out to be a bad guy.

But this time it's worse. The bad guy was totally pointless. He was all about logic and chasing his vision of the new world right up until the end, but then he conveniently changed his mind at the last minute and completely undid all of season 2 and this movie. Even the youkai he apparently killed are brought back to life.
The writers never explained his powers or how they related to real-world technology like the app, nor how his physical body worked.

Where was the Mio from the end of season 1 that could actually achieve something for herself? Even at the end the guy had to kill himself for her.

The main cast were all good, or as good as the material allowed them to be this time. I didn't really care about the villain at all, whether that's the actor's fault I'm not sure.

After watching Season 1 and 2 more than twice, here’s my review of the drama:

Let’s talk about the story:

A simple student in a school full of bullies (they’re not changing a winning formula). Other students constantly messing with him. Episode 1 is explosive the moment he smashes the guy’s face with a notebook, +20 hits, I literally counted them I loved it.Season 1 has some really strong opponents: from classmates to gang members, all the way up to the gang leader. Plus the original antagonist who really pisses you off by the end of the season by sending someone from the group (I won’t spoil the name). That antagonist ends up becoming a huge victim and has to ask for help. Overall, Season 1’s story is TOP tier!

The actors? Nothing to criticize they’re incredible!

The fight scenes are intense, exactly how we like them!

eng is not my first lang so sorry if i made some error in my text

A simple but effective drama: a murder, a suspect, and a solid story. On the other hand, we have a woman with a very special ability she can detect lies (which would be really useful for us in real life too lol).

Overall, I thought the story was well developed: from their first meeting on the bus, to him becoming her neighbor, the discovery of his identity, the moment she finds out he’s been accused of murder, and how lost she feels because of it. Then the way the story unfolds you’re genuinely surprised by who actually caused the tragedy, even if it’s a bit predictable. From the very beginning, without knowing the plot, I suspected her friend was the culprit. Still, the story stays really cool. The acting is good overall. Not surprising coming from the actress she always delivers. I didn’t know the actor before, so he was a pleasant discovery.

WHAT. WAS. THIS. SERIES. I'm in awe!!!

I went in expecting one thing… and got COMPLETELY blown away.

First of all: this is NOT a BL (and I’m glad I didn’t go in expecting that, but it was really comfort to watch some of my favs BL actors doing a great job here). Yes, Nai is clearly in love with Dan, but romance is barely even 1% of the story. This is something else entirely, and honestly? so much better than I imagined. Because what Shadow delivers is a MASTERPIECE of psychological horror and suspense.

I’m not even exaggerating when I say I’ve never watched something that blends supernatural elements, urban legends, religion, and a criminal case THIS well. Everything is so layered, so detailed, and so intentionally built that you’re constantly trying to piece things together.

And the plot twists??? FUCKING INSANE!!!!

Every time you think you understand what’s happening, the story shifts and reveals something new. It’s one of those shows that actually makes you think, and when things start connecting, it’s just mind-blowing.

The atmosphere is another level. The cinematography has this warm, almost haunting tone that fits perfectly with the late 90s setting, and it just pulls you deeper into the story. It feels immersive, heavy, and so well-crafted.

AND THE ENDING??? I’M STILL NOT OVER IT.

When you realize that it’s not actually Dan back… OH MY FUCKING FUCKS!!!

I was literally sitting there in shock. No reaction AT ALL, just like jaw on the floor, brain not processing, needing a full minute to recover. That twist??? Was too insane to cope at once.

This one is so complex, atmospheric, and incredibly well-written. A psychological horror that actually delivers on every level. This was a whole EXPERIENCE, not just a series!!

He Fell First, He Fell Hard… I Didn’t Sleep Because of It ?

The Romance of Tiger and Rose — Review (0 or 10 Type of Viewer 😂)

When it comes to dramas, I’m the type of viewer who only has two ratings: 0 or 10. No in-between. No “it was good but…” or “it would’ve been better if…”—none of that 😂

Because honestly, what’s the point of watching?
To criticize every little detail… or to actually enjoy the story?

And The Romance of Tiger and Rose?
For me, this is a solid 10

Now, I know some people might say the plot is not unique, or that it feels repetitive—a writer transported into her own script, trying to survive while changing the storyline. I get that. I really do.

But for me? Once I’m entertained, I’m in. No “what ifs, what could've been.” I either love it or I don’t—and I LOVED this.

At first, it felt like a short drama—fast-paced, a bit unserious, almost like a parody of historical dramas. But that’s exactly what made it so refreshing. Especially if you’re coming from heavy, emotionally draining series, this feels like a complete reset.

And the best part?

Han Shuo.

This man was head over heels from early on 😭
Like, FULL ON. No hesitation. No confusion.

👉 Loyal
👉 Protective
👉 Soft only for her
👉 A total SIMP (and I mean that in the best way possible 😂)

Watching him fall first and fall HARD while
Chen Qianqian was still stuck in “this is just a script” mode made everything even more entertaining. And when she finally realizes her feelings? That shift was so satisfying.

I even lost sleep because I was enjoying it so much 😂

If I had to point out one thing, I just wish we got more scenes in the modern world towards the end—maybe even just one full episode of them outside the script. That would’ve been perfect.

And of course, Zhao Lusi never disappoints. From Who Rules the World to Love Like the Galaxy and now this, she’s consistently amazing. I really hope she continues doing more projects (and stays healthy 💖).

So yes, others might critique the plot or say it’s predictable…

But for me?

👉 If I enjoy it, it’s a 10.
👉 And this one? Definitely a 10/10.

No explanations needed 😂

Simply a good drama if you’re looking for a sweet, slow-burn romance with a touch of fantasy that you discover pretty early on. One of the final scenes is particularly sad!

I recommend this drama if you want a gentle romance that doesn’t feel forced.I found the scenes where she talks to the dead really cool, but they weren’t developed enough.

Sometimes you’d get two scenes of her talking to the dead, then nothing for 4 episodes. I think that’s a shame.

I don’t even know where to start!

First of all, this post contains spoilers, so please don’t read it if you don’t want to be spoiled! The drama is incredible

the story, the music, and the acting are all top-tier.I already knew the two main actors from their previous roles in other series, but I discovered the actresses here, and they are fantastic! I was really impressed by Cheong-a’s acting quality. It’s very difficult to play roles like this, but she did it perfectly. She managed to convey so much distress in the scenes where her mother beats her, the love scenes, and the school scenes. I think we can all agree on one thing: a huge BRAVO to her for the incredible performance she delivered in this drama!! Eun-yu was also a great discovery. I didn’t know the actress before and I was really blown away by her! Now, let’s talk about the story. It’s heavily centered around the theme of deaf and mute people. I think some viewers might feel a bit hesitant in the first episode because of this theme, but from the second episode onward, you get completely hooked, and the desire to keep watching only grows stronger. Especially when it jumps to 1995. After episode 4, I was even more eager to continue.I really loved the love story between I-chan and Se-gyeong, the reason behind the creation of the music band, the jealousy and little rivalries it caused, and all the efforts I-chan made to stop his father from pursuing Se-gyeong. I enjoyed the little “war” between the three of them. There are so many great scenes!
Then there’s the adorable moment when I-chan starts developing feelings for Cheong-a after she gives him a drawing, the fax scenes, and the horrible moments where her mother makes her life miserable. Honestly, that mother drove me crazy in every scene she plays the despicable character so well!
The moment when Eun-gyeol discovers the truth about the hell she endures at home and helps her was incredibly touching! And the ending with the accident… I was completely shocked. I never saw it coming at all! I had imagined it very differently, so it was great to be surprised. Then we get the very emotional hospital scenes with Eun-yu and Se-gyeong’s father, the double moon, the choice to leave or stay, and even more heartbreaking moments at the hospital. How could you not cry?! An incredible ending. The whole family completely changes for the better it was truly WOW!!

The OSTs are amazing too. Big bravo!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DRAMA!!!

I actually enjoyed this more than I expected, especially since it has a university setting. It just worked better for me than I thought it would.
