A Pleasant Surprise

Before I begin, let me just get my lone criticism out of the way. In these Thai GL dramas, I really hate it when the 2 female leads have sex while one of them is under the influence of a date rape drug. I had this same problem with another one of my favourite GL dramas (Dangerous Queen).

The rest of the show was amazing. I absolutely loved Vicky and Than's relationship. Even after the truth was revealed, the love between them was still there. Tungpang and Jessie had great performances and chemistry, and Vicky's character development was perfect. I'm a bit of a sucker for a female character who begins as a pampered princess and then becomes a complete badass who can hold her own against men who are twice her size.

Pete and Noey were a good secondary couple, and Minister Burin and his son were both entertaining antagonists.

Phakphum's redemption arc was handled well. I do understand that he only did what he did to protect his wife and daughter, but I'm actually glad that he still paid for his crimes, even after confessing to them. I suspect that most other GL dramas would have just exonerated him completely simply due to the fact that he's Vicky's father.

The actions sequences were well choreographed, and it was refreshing to see the females fighting while wearing flat shoes rather than high heels.

Overall, Heart Code is one of the best GL dramas that I've ever watched. The acting and chemistry, writing, directing, and fight sequences all stood out. Over the course of its 7 episodes, no screen time felt wasted. Thanks to recent shows like Heart Code (action), ClaireBell (prison), Love Design (architecture), and the criminally underrated Runaway (horror), Girls' Love dramas are really beginning to spread their wings.

The chemistry is amazing!

Overall was nice to watch and i love the chemistry and how the relationship develops. With proper space and the love at first sight + dedication was obvious. The interactions are adorable too . No super obscene scenes from the main characters but is sweet till u go crazy. The visuals were crazy and i love the sulky part and also seeing how the characters change n improve.

The storyline is interesting and things come together quite nicely. Plot twist was quite amazing yet also predictable but the intensity was real.

Personally not a fan of the ost , which is usually helps to build the vibes and moods but i guess it is a police investigation death show so maybe not applicable.... but they have nice voices

Definitely will rewatch again , highly recommended

THE IMMORTAL ASCENSCION is absolutely BREATHTAKING!!!!!!

Eveeything I write will be commented by someone who doesn't like Wuxia genre products because they are not part of my culture, then I prefer Harry Potter, but apart from the sacrifice I make just to see Yang Yang, I have to admit that the product is fantastic, truly captivating and keeps you in suspense until the end.

This new focus on SPIRITUAL GROWTH instead of bromance is a true
MASTERPIECE. The narration is PROFOUND and SOUL-STIRRING, a TRANSCENDENTAL journey that keeps you hooked. An UPLIFTING and MASTERFUL work of art! I have to admit I only watched this for YANG YANG who is
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and beyond compare.I am affectionately waiting for his return to MODERN settings where he has NO COMPETITION on screen because honestly the Chinese costume genre makes every actor look the same. Only YANG YANG stands out because he is DIVINE in every frame. A true visual FEAST and a triumph of character development!

Literally the most toxic drama ever made

Wow, the most contrived and toxic drama I have seen yet. Recycled over done plot points and filler. Absolutely toxic of all toxic relationship between the main leads. The first episode seemed like it could be cute and magical. But it just flopped and got worse from each episode to episode.

I think they were trying to recreate 'Till the End of the Moon'. And yeah, this was just not worth watching.

Things I can say that are nice... Joseph looks great in his costume. I liked that they used a different voice actress for Bai Lu's character. (I do like Bai Lu, she is a great actress... but she is just in everything and I'm kinda tired of her).

HATED IT

I went into this not knowing that there were 2 seasons actually, so I thought there were just 10 episodes. The female lead held on to her pride and ego and was cold towards the male lead the entire time until about 15 minutes before the very last episode ended and then she ran away with him from her engagement to another dude.So she decided that she wanted to be with the male lead only to literally leave him waiting for her at a port that she had promised to meet him at after she said a final goodbye to her dad. I've never hated a female lead as much as this .... She was so infuriating! No matter how many times he told her how much he loved her and literally, he said, "I'll be your servant, you have my heart and soul etc", that still wasn't enough to convince her that he really loved her, she literally had no reason to believe that he was fooling around with her, he was always so sincere anyway. It's not even worth watching the second season because of how infuriating she is, and I just am so heartbroken for the male lead like he thought he was finally going to have a future with her, but she turned around and went back to the other guy, I understand that she didn't want to leave her, dad behind but she could've sent for her dad later. It's not like she would've never seen her dad again. That was not a valid enough reason. shes literally such a horrible character, and whoever the writer is honestly the worst writer I've ever seen, and I've watched hundreds of K-dramas, and hundreds of Chinese dramas, I've never seen anything like this show. I don't understand why everybody loved it. Also its freaking sad because their servants were in love too and now they just dont get to be together because of her idiocy??!! And whats with his singer friend who freaking never wanted them to be together since the beginning? Is he freaking secretly in love with the ML or what cuz he was jealous ever since the FIRST time he saw her with the ML and he even gave the ML a dagger that said my beloved or something, that was the dagger he later gave to FL am i right? What a creep...being in love with your super good friend??!! The the FL was in love with her BEST FRIENDS MAN for pretty much all 10 epiosdes!!! Are you kidding me??!! To be honest idk why ML would want her when he knew she was a skank,he saw her trying to steal her best friends dude and just kept chasing her anyway.... Dude if youre in love with your best friends dude and actively try to trick him into kissing you and falling for him etc then you are a horrible human being. Why is no one writing about this in the reviews??!! She had been dreaming about ML for so long but his face was always blurry so she didnt know who it was and when she found out it was ML you would think it would be the turning point like youre litterally dreaming of your soulmate and you found out its the guy chasing you but yet you still dont forget about your BFFs dude??!! WHO WROTE THISSSSS...if you hate misunderstandings, pride, ego, never saying what you really feel, pushing people away even though you are falling for them etc FOR HEAVENS SAKE AVOID THIS SHOW AT ALL COSTS!! Who would want to watch a second season of this chick??!!! Ive never written such a bad review on here you can literally go and check but this was a complete dumpster fire i only kept watching cuz google said it was a happy ending but i didnt know that was at the end of season 2 😭😭 the only reason i dodnt rate it even lower is because of the cinematography, the voice of the singer and the MLs lovely smile

Strength in Struggle: A Story of Love, Ambition, and Family

When I first heard about this drama, I was really curious about the story. I’ve learned a bit about Early Chinese History, so it was interesting to see a drama set in the 1970s and watch that kind of environment come to life. Even though it’s not based on a true story, it still felt very real and meaningful.
What I loved the most was how the characters grew over time. Their struggles, sacrifices, and the ups and downs they went through made everything feel so genuine. The drama portrayed the hardships of the 1970s in such a realistic way. It really showed how difficult life was back then.
The female lead stood out to me the most. She came from a poor family, but despite that, her family was full of love. It made me realize that being poor doesn’t mean lacking richness in life, because they were rich in love and support.
I really admired her personality, she is ambitious, intelligent, and has a strong desire to succeed, which made me believe she truly would achieve her dreams. At the same time, she remains humble and is willing to sacrifice for her family. That balance between ambition and humility is so inspiring, and honestly, I feel a little envious of that kind of determination.
Because of her kindness and humility, the people around her, especially at the factory, naturally grew to like her. Her character is very strong and memorable. Btw, the male leads' chemistry was unexpectedly good, and some moments were so cute that they made me laugh.
I also loved the storyline of the male lead’s older sister. Her ambition and her relationship with her husband were so interesting. A marriage that started without love but slowly grew into something deep and genuine was beautifully portrayed.
The atmosphere of the drama was also beautiful, the simplicity of life back then, the slow pace, and the emotional depth made it very immersive. I felt really connected to the characters.
By the final episode, I was completely invested. I felt like I was crying and smiling with them. The ending left me feeling so warm and happy.
Overall, this drama made me realize that true strength doesn’t come from wealth, but from character of ambition, humility, and love. It’s truly heartwarming and memorable, the kind of story that stays with you even after it ends.

Super Underrated

I have being watching a streamline of underrated drams lately.
I am here after watching My Fellow Citizens and got a recommendation from there and i am very glad i wasnt disappointed.

I really wanted a little teeny romantic involvement between do chan and ha-ra but oh well, they kept teasing us.
chemistry was 100000000000000%.
what a drama!

Our Universe show that it's funny, cute, and sad moments

I had started watching Our Universe korean drama show on March 1-March 13. I watched it on Kisskh website. This korean drama show is about Hyung-Jin meet Tae-Hyung when he was selling his rorman lights. they meet again when Tae-Hyung find out about his brother is marrying Hyung-Jin's sister. It makes them both sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Hyun-Jin decided to take care of her nephew, Woo-Joo. Tae-Hyung and Hyun-Jin both have a crush on each other. It took Hyun-Jin to realize her feelings and her love for him. I find Our Universe is funny when Tae-Hyung is pulling Woo-Joo while he was in the trash can. poor Woo-Joo carry by Tae-Hyung. it's cute that Woo-Joo is yawning in episode 1. I like Hyun-Jin and Woo-Joo is hugging in episode 2. it's funny Hyun-Jin see Woo-Joo and Tae-Hyung calls his sister-in-law honey in episode 2. I like that Hyun-Jin tells Tae-Hyung about the checklist and a check-in with Woo-Joo. it's funny that there's a video that embarrass to Hyun-Jin in episode 3. it's funny that Hyun-Jin and Tae-Hyung both realized that they were drunk in episode 4. it's funny that the two little kids attacked their tent down in episode 5. It's cute that Tae-Hyung is getting Woo-Joo ready for day care/child care in episode 6. It's cute that Tae-Hyung and Woo-Joo is sleeping together in episode 8. it's funny how Moo-Saeng say to Gyu-Jeong he is single and forever alone in episode 9. it's cute Woo-Joo have a show in episode 10. It's finally Hyun-Jin confess her feelings for Tae-Hyung. it's funny that Tae-Hyung say he is Hyung-Jin's boyfriend in episode 11. I didn't like it when Hyun-Jin hide Tae-Hyung and Woo-Joo in episode 5. I didn't like it how Tae-Hyung slam the plate of meat when Hyun-Jin gave it to him. I didn't like it when Hyun-Jin's coworkers think she's a spy in episode 7. I do agree with Tae-Hyung saying that is bullying. I didn't like how the child service lady say that Hyun-Jin is neglecting Woo-Joo in episode 12. I feel she still care when she checks on Woo-Joo when he starts crying.

ADR

I love this show and the plotline. the acting is peak, but the ADR could use a little work. Characters will say something and the mouth doesn't move with it. Just a pet peeve of mine, and I know China does it a lot so I'm kind of used to it, but it seems especially off in this one.

I love the actors and I enjoy their hard work! I love the setting as you dont see many bl stories in this time. I really enjoy the characters too and the lingering camera shots to accentuate a moments like the party.

Perfection was snatched away from us by a lazy and unsatisfying ending

OMG! I was so close to loving every second of this! It was so human and the emotions felt so real. It's one of very few series to actually make me cry. I was 100% involved with these characters, including the second couple.

But listen, writers, the ending is mission critical! And the whole thing, everything we experienced together, was ruined in the final 2 (2.5?) episodes. Poof. Gone. It was so good while it lasted.

I'm sure lots of people were like, it was a beautiful happy ending. But there was some manufactured drama followed by an unnecessarily tidy bow to tie up their story that I found extremely disappointing. Maybe others love that (the reviews do and dont bear that out) but I loved these characters before they turned into a poorly executed bl trope. I loved them when they felt totally authentic and their imperfections helped create that.

Honestly, I felt like the actors knew they were getting a bad script/story near the end because there were a few cringe moments in the final episodes where they didnt seem committed to the (ridiculous) storyline.

And what about that second couple? Why did their relationship evolve almost completely offscreen? I wanted way more content from them! I liked their whole thing and wanted to see more.

Dont get me wrong, I'm glad I watched it. And I absolutely recommend you watch it too. But damn, it was so close to perfection and then it suddenly and deeply wasn't.

The Drama's weakest point

This drama had so much potential, because of its strong cast, I had so much hope for this show but the moment I saw some AI generated drawings I instantly lost interest. I believe the ai generated images kind of contradicts the characters career which is an artist, I hope this DOES NOT become the new norm for shows as I see shows and movies as an opportunity to see various ways of creativity being expressed, either threw the plot, to the props, and even the clothes characters wear throughout the show.

This is what dying feels like

What a fucking bittersweet ending it has my ripping my heart out of my chest rn. I stg there needs to be an 11th happy episode. Watching the last episode is what dying a slow death feels like. Some of the characters pmo but redeem themselves in the end, other than that I think its overall an alright watch!

All Over the Place and Hard to Follow

As a stand-alone film, this movie struggles heavily with storytelling. The narrative feels choppy and often incoherent, with little connection between scenes or character actions. Many moments seem to jump from one point to another without proper buildup, leaving the viewer confused about what is happening and why. For someone unfamiliar with the original story, the film can feel disorienting and, at times, frustrating to follow.

The pacing adds to this problem. Some scenes are stretched out unnecessarily, while others pass by so quickly that you barely have time to process them. This uneven pacing creates a scattered viewing experience where important moments don’t get the attention they need, while less significant scenes are given too much time.

I also found myself questioning certain directorial choices. Some scenes, like extended introductions or visual sequences, do not add much value to the story and instead take away time that could have been used to develop the plot more clearly. On top of that, the CGI throughout the film is noticeably weak, which further affects immersion.

Overall, the movie feels disconnected and poorly structured. With better editing, tighter storytelling, and improved pacing, it could have been much more engaging. As it stands, it’s a disappointing watch, especially for viewers expecting a coherent and well-executed narrative.

how to move on

i just finished this. I’m still in a daze. i refused to watch it for a long time. no idea why. i just don’t have words on how good this was. this will be forever the best BL drama! the acting…! the ml both were amazing. i first thought dean was a bit wooden but that was just the character he played. as it got deeper into the story, you could see his true acting skill. his partner…omg his eyes! nothing in the BL universe will ever compare to those eyes! every emotion was mirrored in them. the storyline was heartbreaking to say the least. the music was on my last nerve. especially that bar piano climpering as background for the ml. nothing romantic about that.
I’m trying to find words how deep this show actually is and how it impressed me. i don’t think there is a way to express that.
it broke my heart knowing that this is probably reality for many couples. it shouldn’t be this way. it really shouldn’t!

Comfort Winter Watch!!

What a perfect cozy winter watch. I really enjoyed the snowboarding aspect of the show, I think it was done well. The comic side was a little hard to believe, but fun. The main couple was very wholesome and I really enjoyed them. Lin Yi was such a charming love interest, he had such a gentle tender personality. Esther Yu was so cute, and it felt natural. I will say, some of the episodes DRAGGEDDDDD. The best moments were in the snow. Shoutout to the enjoyable side characters as well. I am glad they did not force everyone to be in relationships. I hope to watch more stuff with Lin Yi in it. (I am already an Esther Yu fan)
