The Equation of Love(2025) is a romance miniseries with Zhu Yi Wei (as Shang Yi Huai) and Bai Xin Yi (as Liang Xia} in the leading couple’s role. The cast did a good job bringing their characters to life but the story takes too long to unravel the real identities and the FL, even when things became clear, still doubted the ML’s identity. It is clear that the leading couple has great chemistry but also some things from the past were not very clear and were rushed at the end. Overall, the acting is good but the romance could have developed better.

Suited Me to a "T"

Two of my MDL friends enjoyed Glory. That, and having Hou Ming Hao as the lead, made this an easy choice for next to watch (some may not know that Hou Ming Hao is the embodiment of my beloved departed cat; I was recently told his fans have nicknamed him "Kitten," which only reinforced my impression of him).

The Good:
• My aversion to amnesia plots was tested, but it was done right and was believable.
• At 36 episodes, the drama never dragged, nor did I consider it to have needless filler.
• The tea motif was a highlight; the views of hills swathed in centuries-old tea bushes were beautiful.
• The life lessons ML imparted to the FL about relationships were exceptional: knowing when, or if, to intervene between two people, and understanding that promoting goodwill between individuals benefits all.

The Bad:
• I'm incredulous of love that survives betrayal and a literal stab to the heart. I'd be unlikely to kiss and make up after that.
• Nearly all male villains were punished; practically no female villains were held accountable. Even murder and attempted murder held no significant consequences for the females.
• The finale felt like a fragmented disaster. The Duke's household was the converse of the Rong's matriarchal society. It had as much infighting and many poisonous relationships. However, it didn't make complete sense to me: the father, who had been robust and domineering, suffered a quick decline; the sister's muddled thinking; the mother's inconsistent acquiescence to belligerence; and the concubine's nonsensical reasoning were too much and felt unconvincing. The brother's death, in particular, was a needless emotional gut punch.

I like dramas that make me think, and I've been contemplating the difference between the Rongs' matriarchal structure and the Duke's patriarchal household. Both systems trampled on the feelings of everyone involved, with the head dictating the terms by which everyone else was forced to live by.

At the end, the Duke's position had been taken by his young grandson, with his daughter-in-law holding all the power. The situation was unlikely to have a happy outcome, given its roots in scheming and bloodshed. Will the daughter-in-law relinquish power peacefully to her son as he comes of age? Will her stepdaughter prove to be a destabilizing factor? Pity the poor woman the young duke eventually marries. Lu Jiang Lai escaped a hornet's nest by abandoning that family.

The matriarch of the Rongs was left unscathed, but she will suffer the ongoing indignity of being supplanted by her granddaughter. I feel for them both as they will remain thorns in one another's sides until the grandmother's death. Slowly, Rong Shan Bao will implement changes to make the clan more inclusive and less combative. She'll allow her "sisters" to form relationships of their own choosing. Men may join the business. Will this mean a change from a matriarchal emphasis? Will this shift harm or benefit the Rong family company?

A Good Story Trapped in a Short Format

This drama had a really interesting detective story at its core, but the short format and poor editing held it back a lot. The plot itself was actually good and different from typical predictable cases, but the way it was edited made everything feel chopped and incomplete. Many scenes jumped too quickly, and I often found myself wondering how and why the characters suddenly ended up in certain situations.

The biggest reason I kept watching was the leads. CYF and WMY had excellent chemistry, and their interactions felt natural and engaging. The actors did a great job with what they were given, and their performances made the characters more likable even when the writing did not give them enough depth. Unfortunately, because of the short runtime, the characters felt flat and one dimensional, and we never got to fully understand their motivations or personalities.

The reactions, responses, and overall flow were weak especially in the beginning, and the editing never really improved. It honestly felt like this story would have worked much better as a full length drama where the cases and characters could be explored properly. The potential was clearly there, but the format limited its impact.

Overall, it is not a bad drama, and the it is worth watching. But it also feels like a missed opportunity. With better direction, smoother editing, and a longer format, this could have been a truly great detective drama instead of just an average one with unrealized potential.

Pure Chaos, Pure Chemistry

As usual, PondPhuwin’s chemistry is off the charts, and they definitely delivered in this series. They had me laughing the entire time. Even with them being “extra,” it was not nearly as cringe as I expected. In fact, it worked really well and added to the charm.

WilliamEst’s acting has improved a lot. I honestly did not know they had that side in them, and it was great to see their growth on screen.

If you are looking for something a little chaotic but still funny and light hearted, this series is definitely worth a try.

The only downside is that it is too short. I really wish it had more episodes and went deeper into some of the characters’ stories.

The best rom com Best Friends to Lovers ever

Things I adored

1 I'll start with the trope. Best friends to Lovers is my favorite trope, but I never found a rom com I adored with this trope. Well, it's done. I've never watched such a joyful, heartwarming, funny, romantic rom com. This was a real Best Friends to Lovers romantic comedy where the leads are compatible and their relationship is based in real friendship that was tested by time.

2 The ML. I can't even explain how much I loved him. The actor and the character. I admired his acting in The Day of Becoming You, but it was difficult for me to follow the story so I abandoned, but he shone already in this one so I had put him in my list with actors I wanted to check their other dramas. This how I came tot his one and this is how I fell in love with him. The character is absolutely perfect. I'd love to have a boyfriend like him, I'd love to have a friend like him, I'd love to have a work partner like him. I'd even love to have a son like him. I enjoyed every scene he was part of and it doesn't hurt that I find him so handsome. To stop here because I can write a book about his character, the actor was perfect, the character was perfect.

3 The 2ML. What a great actor. So funny and goofy and handsome. I watched the small video at the end and was surprised of how much more handsome he was than in the series. I already found him handsome but he was adorable in the video. I loved his performance. He created an endearing character with multiple facets and it was a joy to follow his journey. I also adored his reaction to the main couple relationship. That made for some truly funny moments.

4 The 3ML. He made me laugh so many times and at the same time he was so cute and endearing. He had the funnier interactions with the other two male leads. I loved his expressions and his reactions when they discussed something. His relationship with the 3FL was the less developed, but it was so nice and so touching. I adored watching him acting awkward and falling in love and also watching them together. What I loved in all three couples was that their relationships seemed real. There was no rush tings evolved naturally. I wish the third couple had more scenes, but I loved all those they had and honestly this was a good base for their story if you ask me. Sometimes, he looked too young but the actress who played the 3FL, also looked younger when she didn't wear too much makeup so it wasn't weird.

5 The mothers. I've never loved any mothers in any drama more. These are examples to follow. Smart, funny, sensible. The second couple said they were meddlers and they were but they didn't surpass the mothers. But it was done in such a good way, it didn't bother me at all. It rather reminded me of my family. They care, but never go as far as intruding in my life. Mediterranean moms seem to have a lot in common with Chinese moms. I was looking forward to see the moms and that happens very rarely in these dramas. It's not only that I adored hem as individuals but also their friendship.

6 The chemistry between the leads and all the couples. That's also rare so I need to point it out. All the couples had chemistry and seemed to like each other and have fun acting.

7 The kisses. There weren't many, but he's the best kisser I think amongst all those I remember. Great kisses and I wish there were more. Then perfection would have been achieved.

8 The friendship between the three male leads. So good to watch and not only it was fun, but felt real. This was one of the strong points of the series. Moon light had also a great friendship between the male leads but here they were three which gave it another flavor. If I had to compare, I'd say they are both great.

9 The funny moments. There were so many, but I will mention some I remember. The drank FL was fun to watch. It was done with in good taste and I'll definitely go back watch this again. The moments when the mother of the ML was waiting for him and opened the door to ask if he was hungry was so fun. The scene with the mother of the FL when she didn't believe they were together was also a great moment. The way they played the couple in the end the mothers was also fun. So many moments to enjoy and this is the first time I will say with certainty that I will go back and rewatch this series. This is the first series I gave a 10 in all items and one of the rare ones (with Love Between Lines and the scenes with only the main couple of Love is Sweet) that I'm certain to rewatch. A true gem of rom com.
Things I loved

1 The FL actress. I'm not talking about her character, just the actress. She's not in my "adore" list because I don't find her ideal for rom coms, but I think she did a wonderful job here. She impressed me to be honest. I was expecting to dislike her and I even thought she'd ruin the rom com vibe because I don't find her attractive enough. I was so wrong. She was so good in her role and there were times I found her beautiful. She was a gorgeous bride and she acted well as a high school student, as a bank employee, as a friend. Now I'm going back to watch My Page in the 90s I abandoned a few weeks ago to watch other series. I will also search for her other dramas. That alone can tell you how good she was in this series. Kudos to her for her acting. She was believable in every scene.

2 The second couple. They were adorable, especially the 2ML. It was the first time I've seen him and loved his acting and his character. The couple was funny and endearing. I had so much fun watching their interactions and I loved the relationship they had. It felt real and solid.

3 The 2FL. She did a great job with her character and although I can't for some reason imagine her as lead, I'd love to watch her in other dramas.

4 Nina, the 3FL. I've seen the actress in Filter and honestly I disliked her. Not the fault of the actress though, the character was terrible. Here she played the character of the lonely vulnerable actress perfectly. Not only she is gorgeous but she made me feel things. I cried even when nothing really sad happened, but she managed to convey emotions that spoke to me and made my heart drown. I loved her character.

5 The grandpa and the whole family. It was so heartwarming to watch the episodes they were all together. It reminded me so much of my family and the laughter, the teasing, the food, the whole thing made me cry. I miss these moments with my family. They are precious and stay with you your whole life.

6 The small scenes from the past. They were all so funny and endearing. It gave us so many reasons to root for the couple and made their relationship look even more solid. I enjoyed every vignette they showed and waited for them after each episode.

7 The intro song. One of the rare times I listened to the intro every time. I loved the music, the words and the voice.

8 The last scene. So lovely and funny.

Things I disliked

1 I had to look hard to find something. I didn't dislike a single line or a single scene. I loved everything, but I found something in the last episode. Although she was a beautiful bride I didn't like her wedding dress. I didn't hate it, it was nice, but I can imagine dozens of more fitting wedding dresses.

2 Something else that came to mind, although it didn't ruin at all my joy watching this marvelous rom com were the assistant and the manager of Nina. I never warmed to them and some things they said rubbed me the wrong way. But it's still nothing.

3 The story with Mo. I didn't dislike it per se, but I wish it didn't end the way it ended and the bad people pay their crimes without Mo going too far. I would also have loved to see the despicable director and his wife burn in hell.

4 Now that I started, let's talk about another thing as well. There was a difficult scene with the FL and the director and I wish they had done something about it. It stayed unresolved in my eyes and it shouldn't.

5 One last small thing. I wasn't fond of the FL outfits. I think she could wear something more elegant. She has the body and having to wear a uniform at work would be a great reason for her to crave a unique style and not dressing like an older than she was woman and always in the same style.

Things I hated

1 The villains of course. The couple from hell who should have paid dearly for their actions and we should be able to enjoy watching them pay.

toxic drama the FL sucks , she is such a red flag

After episode 8, for me, this drama's rating dropped from 10 to 2.

The SML things that he is the boss in their House and family. Is so upsetting. How can you impose yourself in such a way between members who try to raise and make a program for a baby. The words and the way he speaks to Tae Hyeong is crazy. Is like in the Positively yours drama.

The FL is such a red flag.

The FL does not have any connection with the baby. Do you see it? She is not amused at all. it's crazy how he let herself be in a connection with her boss, the first love. Immature, not attractive, luck of emotional intelligence. and fisicaly she is looking like a teenager not a woman. Please eat something.

The baby and the ML needs a new house and a mature woman.

And other thing that I don't like is the father. He does not deserve anything from his son. The better way is to stay away, and only if the son want s to connect to be their, but I hope not. A parent that treats his own child like this does not deserve any future connection. The father is intrusive. and talks like an unloved child to the neighbors with Woo Hyeon Jin he wants to have a relationship with his son like nothing happens.

if you will have a father like this one, don't forget you have the right to say to him NO, you can protect yourself mentally and emotionally from a trauma like this. You can forgive him, for yourself, to set your soul free, but you can say no, I don't want to see you never again. You can choose the type of relationship you want, even if he is your father. Dont let yourself cut in the story of a good family. If is not real for you is correct .

The way they put again in 2026 the abuse of a child from adults, as the child is blamed for the father mistake with money. It's unlivable how the Korean adults treats children.

I love the baby, I love how Tae Hyeong green flag is. I hopped for a good drama. I love his talent with photography. And for the fist time I feel a FL deserves another woman in his life, not a teenager like Woo Hyeon Jin.

Dreams

Short but still complete. There are parts of the story that I wish had been included, but in only 30 minutes, this film manages to present a multi-layered and complete narrative. The main story takes place in the past, but we also see the characters in the present. The central theme is first romance, but there is also a subplot about high school life. The driving force of the story is music and art, but the most important message concerns our life dreams. So, on one level, this is a reminder of our first love, but it is elevated to deliver an important message about life dreams. The act of dreaming is sometimes even more important than the achievement itself.

The actors and the production are very good. Better then in some feature movies. This is, all in all, a nice story — something we have seen before — but it is still refreshing and pure, and I can recommend it to everyone.

Finally A Dark Creepy Mystery Thriller That Manages To Deliver What It Promised

The script was absolutely great in my opinion. The cases were actually mysterious and managed to keep me engaged as a viewer. The drama has managed to maintain its dark vibe till the end. The cases felt unique and actually creepy to me. Wang Xing Yue was brilliant here. This is not a romance drama, and I loved that it did not focus much on the romance. Those who might be watching this drama for romance might be really disappointed. But the relationship portrayed between the characters was natural and nice to watch. The only downside is that it really dragged a bit in terms of episode number. Towards the end, I was really impatient to know who Yesha was. But still, he really was a formidable, dead smart villain that I enjoyed watching. Both the protagonist and antagonist were toe-to-toe and were outwitting each other. It was really refreshing. The script and cinematography were solid. I would absolutely recommend this drama.

The standout element of the entire series was undeniably Ryeoun’s performance. From the very first episodes, he portrayed a calm, emotionally restrained, and psychologically intricate character with remarkable precision. His acting elevated the drama and carried its most intense moments.

Since the script is adapted from a novel, the narrative was already well-structured, and the director succeeded in translating it into a visually compelling work. Most of the cast delivered solid performances—especially Lee Woo-Gyeom and the lawyer—while a few roles felt less fitting, such as the prosecutor’s.

As a whole, the series achieves a near-perfect balance between tension, emotion, and moral ambiguity. I would confidently rate it 9/10.

The ending was especially striking. The final two episodes were the strongest in the entire series—powerful, emotional, and beautifully executed. Although a few details remained ambiguous, the conclusion was artistically satisfying.
The choice to have the public believe he died—as both a serial killer and an unexpected savior—served as a meaningful closure to his arc. His “death” symbolized the end of his suffering, the end of the failed treatments, and the end of the life that was taken from him.

Yet the reveal that he is still alive, known only to the lawyer, offered a subtle, poetic resolution. He wasn’t kept alive to continue saving others, but to finally reclaim the life he lost because of those who exploited him.

In the end, his character embodies both justice and tragedy—deserving death for the lives he took, but also deserving life for the people he saved and for the injustice he endured. It was a bold, thoughtful, and emotionally resonant conclusion that made the drama truly unforgettable

It would not fair to pick your favorite drama of the year from the first drama you watch
