Strong start

Lee Jae wook... the last kdrama i watched staring him was Impossible Heir , and let me say this .. this show reminded me that he truly is a very good actor. Most of my laughs are his realistic reactions to things that happend daily with people and how we react toward those issues . Eg the bugs 🐛

I am extremely happy that Shin Ye-eun is our FL , honestly I was actually so upset on how her character got robbed in a 100 memories. But DOTE looks like it's really her time to shine .

Over all the show still have a few episodes to go but its good

sebel sama ibu² " awas nnti anak saya minder"

For a VERY specific audience, do not expect logic or maturity

The experience of watching this while it was on-going is genuinely one in a million. I could not keep up with the discussions of characters being irredeemable one week and then being redeemed the next, somehow. This show had a LOT of flaws, but goddamn does it keep you hooked.

The first few episodes are filmed in such a close camera lens and shots that it genuinely feels a bit obsessive and personal, later on you understand why. The characters were mostly one dimensional, but Lu Feng, what a character. Watching the show just to see what he does next became the new motivation for me honestly. The acting was amazing from him and he did NOT hold back.

Xiao Chen...I wish he was braver.

Anyways GREAT ost ! Overall good watch.

One of My Unexpected Favorites!

Teach You a Lesson was honestly such a fun watch. I started it without expecting much but it ended up surprising me in a good way. I was honestly hooked front one point and then binged watched like crazy. The story keeps things interesting and all the main characters feel relatable enough that you actually care about what happens to them. They were probably the strongest part for me because they felt real and easy to get attached to.
What I liked most was how balanced each moment was. Some scenes in the eps genuinely made me laugh(especially FL's swearing rap lmao) and a few had me really invested in the characters' growth.
The pacing was pretty good overall and I never felt bored while watching.
If you’re looking for something entertaining with likable characters and a meaningful message I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. I had a really good time watching it and would happily watch it again.
And also it's a 10 for me!

don't expect a lot, you'll get disappointed

I had mixed feelings about the drama, one time I would smile at their sweet moments another time I would get frustrated, but in the end drama disappointed me.
1_it's another cliche cdrama where ML is a superman, hardworking_good at ANYTHING comes his way_cooks and cleans_ good in his studies. He is just PERFECT and FML except being a nerd is useless.
at one point FMLs father tells her by the way you talk , you know that you are dating down. I seriously wanted to tell the writer what is going on in your mind exactly?? the way you designed this ML both father and daughter should truly BE HONRED that they're gonna have a son in law like him.
2_ MLs mother: the writer at first wanted to show her as someone irresponsible and a total mess who doesn't even know how much money she has or earns considering that she would spent LOTS of money on gambling and shopping when she was already deep in debt and the mess she caused during the show, the reason was to first give FML a moment to show she is not that useless, second to add drama in MLs life. this is sooo unacceptable for me because MORE than 10 years someone like her took care of that family. we CAN NOT forget that ML only started working 2 years what about before that? it was all his mother.
this already shows that she is both hardworking and responsible.
3_ another horrible cliche in cdramas forgiving those who commit crime or do smt terrible to the leads,
first FML forgives her bully who among other things literally sends thugs in her way so she can just score higher in an exam. and then ML forgives a criminal who stabs him TWICE and after that he threatens him that when he is done with ML he is gonna go for his sister. REALLY?? for forgiving someone like that you are either STUPID or a saint.
I'm so upset that I wasted my time on this drama, big mistake. this is a fairytale.

An Interesting Lead Carries a Familiar Story

First of all, yes, some of my favorite BLs are from China (nothing will ever top The Untamed for me), but I still believe I can judge this series fairly. I also haven't watched the movies and have only read a few chapters of the novel so far.

I'm a fan of Lu Feng (LF), and honestly, he was the main reason I stayed invested throughout the series. That doesn't mean I want to justify all of his actions, but he was by far the most interesting character in the drama. On the other hand, I was often either bored by or frustrated with Cheng Yi Chen (Xiao Chen). This isn't a criticism of the actor—it's more about the character being portrayed as an insecure son who constantly goes along with his family's expectations. That said, Xiao Chen was also responsible for many of the sweet and heartwarming moments, so I could still appreciate him overall.

The chemistry between the main actors was good, though not exceptional. Still, they managed to create several memorable scenes together, and I've already come across quite a few fan edits that I absolutely loved.

Since I want to keep this review spoiler-free, I won't go into too much detail. However, even though I didn't enjoy every episode equally, I was always curious to see what would happen next. The shift in tone during the later episodes, when the story became significantly darker, was actually a welcome surprise for me.

Now let's talk about the side couple... *sigh*
Xiao Chen's younger brother, Cheng Yi Chen (CYC), got on my nerves quite a lot. For most of the series, I simply didn't understand him. He was far too involved in his brother's love life, and while I could understand some of his motivations, his actions frequently frustrated me. As the younger brother, he's portrayed as rather immature, which probably contributed to my feelings.
Next to that, I liked Qin Lang (QL), CYC's love interest, but unfortunately I never became emotionally invested in their relationship. If anything, I would have liked to see more of QL as an individual character—perhaps even interacting with LF separately.

As for the rest of the supporting cast, all characters were fairly forgettable. Many disappeared from the story in one way or another. Because of that, I would personally recommend watching this series primarily for LF(Ayden Sng) rather than for the supporting cast.

As for the plot itself, the series features two 5-year time skips, allowing us to follow the characters through college, their first jobs, and eventually a more settled stage of adulthood. While this provides room for character development, I can't say the characters themselves felt particularly memorable. I suspect I'll forget most of them fairly quickly.

I generally enjoy BLs with darker themes (such as To My Star and Yesterday), but I also appreciate lighter series (Me and Thee, Cat for Cash). While I'm happy that more mature BL stories are being released lately, I still look for something beyond simply collecting "red flag" or "toxic relationship" tropes.
In that regard, Double Helix succeeds partially. One of its strengths is the contrast between the sweet, innocent school romance in the beginning and the later exploration of homophobia, family pressure, and the struggle to fight for one's own happiness. Emotional scenes play a major role throughout the series, and one of my favorite moments was Lu Feng's honesty in EP 10. Overall, the main couple's storyline worked well for me, while my enjoyment of the side plots (e.g. the main character's families) varied considerably.

Music: The soundtrack was enjoyable, and 3 songs from the series have already made it onto my Spotify playlist.

Rewatch Value: Honestly, I'm still undecided. The series certainly wasn't bad, but whether I rewatch it will probably depend on what future BL releases look like and whether I'm in the mood for something familiar that I know I enjoyed before.

Final Thoughts: I would recommend Double Helix to viewers who don't expect a completely unique story. The series includes several familiar BL tropes, such as the rich-versus-middle-class dynamic. I would also recommend it to viewers who are willing to engage with an obsessive male lead without immediately dismissing the character. Not because his behavior should be excused, but because fiction and reality are not the same thing, and some viewers may find the character study interesting.

You may want to check out one of the trailers first:
PS: Maybe checkout one of the trailer beforehand:

HIDDEN GEM OF 2026

"If you don't know what you don't know, you'll never know what you need to know."

I find dramas like these to be tough to review because of how delicate the world and representation is for this kind of show, and as someone who isn't an expert in the field that tackles ASD and ADHD, I can't comment on how accurate the depiction is. But, what I can say, is that Kenichi Matsuyama played a remarkably convincing portrayal of the character. He embodies Ando uniquely in a way that I haven't seen for this type of role before.
The rest of the supporting cast were fantastic too. Even the guest appearances were great as well, which I find refreshing because with procedural dramas performances can vary, but with this one, there isn't a single case where I find the guest actors lacking.

In a way, this reminds me of Liaison: Kodomo no Kokoro Shinryosho. I think there are some similarities with the setting of the leads and how the cases and themes were handled. Kiyoharu Ando was diagnosed with ASD ( Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) as a child. Now, transferred to a new branch, he must fulfill his duties while keeping his condition from his colleagues. For Ando, he's challenged by the thought of working in the legal field when he's an "alien" who can't function as normal humans do. Does he have the qualities to be a judge? what does it even mean to become a judge? these are some of the questions that he and the viewers are tackled with.

The cases are typical with one big case in the second half that becomes a highlight and important catalyst for the lead's story arc which I think was fantastically handled. I bawled my eyes out on that final courtroom scene.

It might be a huge statement to say that this is the best drama I have seen this year. But honestly, I was already feeling a bit hopeless when it came to finding any great dramas lately, which I know is totally a me problem. So I'm glad that I did not let this one pass, which is also why, I wanted to give it a highlight. Maybe, there are others out there who might find something valuable in this story.

Wow the World - the healthiest, most stress free variety show

I’m not a huge fan of most Chinese variety shows. Even when some claim to be “healing” variety shows, there will always be some unnecessary drama being stirred up or maliciously played up to given “tension”. There’s also a lot of jostling for attention among cast members with a strong feeling of one-upsmanship.
Wow the World is the opposite of all that. It does genuinely seem to want to have the cast members be at ease and comfortable. It’s also wonderful to see how the “generation gap” is addressed - mostly in a humorous tone but also respectfully.
I couldn’t stop laughing in the first episode when Chen Xing Xu first appeared. I had only just gotten to know him as an actor through Love Between Lines and it blew my mind how completely different his actual personality was. (Which also then made me realise how tremendous an actor he was to so convincingly have people believe that he was this cool, domineering persona based on his more recent and well known dramas.) At one point I was actually wondering how he could possibly survive in the entertainment industry given how introverted and socially anxious he is. But through him, the beauty of this variety show is very clear- in the ending episode, he volunteers an ending remark and chokes up as he shares that he had always wanted to bring his family travelling and he never thought that he would be comfortable enough to travel with anyone else. However, through the show, he has truly found a family that he wants to see the world with. He then quickly apologizes for speaking out of turn or spoiling the mood. But then his Wow the World all immediately interject to reassure him that what he said was valuable and that his sincerity brings a lot to the show.
That sense of family and just different pairings makes all the difference. Although the show definitely could do with fewer indoor games and more actual interaction with the local environment like the Sicily leg (which was truly beautiful), the dynamics in the cast made for such a comfort watch. (The leaks for Wow the World 2 show that the production did take the feedback quite seriously so it’s shaping to be a same same yet different show. Hopefully it will not lose the heart and charm of the first season.)

Oh my ghost clients

A bit of a denunciation of the conditions of certain workers: impossible shifts, lack of safety, workplace hazing, etc.
This lawyer is "enlisted" to help ghosts settle their debts.
He will defend the rights of the deceased even after their deaths so that their colleagues also benefit and receive justice.
Some comical situations, sometimes a little too "imaginative."

AGood comforting show, a bit of nonsense BUT overall a good show

The premises are good, the story line is very good and interesting
Peak is just soooo beautiful, you get captivated by him more than the story. It seemed a bit rushed.
Many characters are not very essential and many behaviors don't make so much sense.
The intrigue is alright, but Pearl and Peak chemistry and good acting is what held the drama for me.
The ending could have been better executed and maybe make the arrest on the previous episode so we get more time to understand what happened to Scent.
But overall it's the kind of show you watch once completely aired so you don't loose focus and interest.
I definitely will watch again, it was a good watch, not perfect but definitely not bad and of good quality.

If you don't enjoy dark romance, this is not for you

This drama was toxic, it started as cute love story between lufeng and XC duribg theor university years than sh*t went downhill quickly, the moment their relationship got exposed, the homophobic families that made sure to break them over and over again

Lufeng loved xc in crazy unhealthy way, he made him his whole world and the moment that world broke, LF broke as well

Xc in other hand loved LF but never choose him, always choose easy roote, leaving lf, marrying someone else to olease him mom.. Etc, he was indecisive throughout the storyline and it made him frustrating at certain point, he always bend to others expectations, listen to his family, to his brother, which portrayed him as selfless and kinda but when it come to lufeng he was cruel and coward

Them together was hard to watch after the 5 years gap, LF actions were criminal, xc didn't deserve that, but once again thewe two found a way to be with eo and heal slowly from the trauma

That fcking 2nd couple giving us nothing but headache, i hated yichen and will hate him forever, most hypocritic annoying character that obsessed with his brother love life, pmo so bad.

The acting was good, some editing choices were bad but the quality of show still good
Overall i e'joyed this roller-coaster, may this love never find me

dislike ml and the plot

I liked FML but it's hard to like ml ? very rude and cold to her from start till end ,does bare minimum ?and it feels like every other guy in that drama would've looked good with her than the ml

start- FML gets offer which is also earning her money she needs ,but the plot is so stupid? the one who does the offer is ml and then the work he wanted to get done ? he actually does the work ? then why ask her do it in first place?
he keeps dragging her forcing her ? it's hard to like ml even the plot is so weird ? fake acting was okay he forced her for that now he forces the marriage contract too ? and she being in need for money and has to pay back to ml ? agrees?

everything is literally annoying here? who going to watch main FML suffering getting dragged and forced by ml?

their interactions feel more annoying ml feels more like villian than ml

I liked the basic idea of swapping carriages. Then I was happy with the romantic side of the series.
Two brides meet and are swapped and taken to the wrong grooms. Too late for a change, they agree to take their respective roles.
The girl who practices martial arts marries the sickly young man, while the intellectual marries the general.
The stories are alternated, a way to avoid boredom (a break is fine).
All is well until episode 13, when the point comes where they want to separate these two happy couples. On one side, the king orders the general to marry his daughter and thus become prince consort; on the other, the mean cousin convinces an old flame to come between them. With ruse, they manage to circumvent the problem and reunite. The princess has her eye on the general's right-hand man, and the evil cousin will do everything they can to avoid being killed and trap him.
Things that don't add up: dressed as a man one moment, then as a woman with a super sophisticated hairstyle? They drink so much tea that a little poison and they'd all be dead already. Why doesn't the doctor deliver the lotus flower to the queen?
In the 24 episodes, the background music is nice, but they could have added more to avoid being too repetitive.
