Dropped: Struggled with the Writing and Pacing

I’m sorry, folks, but this just wasn’t the drama for me. I made it a little past the halfway point but couldn’t bring myself to continue. I struggled with both the pacing and the writing.

The story didn’t really draw me in, and I didn’t feel particularly engaged with the lead dynamic or the overall direction of the narrative. The humor didn’t land for me, and the conflicts didn’t feel especially compelling. I kept watching, hoping it would pick up or become more engaging, but it ultimately never clicked for me.

Unapologetically Entertaining: A Pure Guilty Pleasure Watch

This is 100% a guilty pleasure for me. I really enjoy Qi Xiaxia as a performer—she often plays commanding roles, and I especially like her pairing with Jin Chao. Their on-screen chemistry is a big part of what makes this work for me. If you’re not drawn to their particular style of character dynamics, this may not be your type of watch. Jin Chao also delivers a strong performance here, and the two of them together really carry the show. The overall plot is solid, but for me, the main appeal is definitely their chemistry and interactions rather than anything else.

Boring

Can’t continue, too boring, yes the concept of reverse role is novel but that’s about it. Nothing can hook me to continue
The female lead only 1 expression for all kind of emotion (or lack thereof)
the pace of selecting husband is too dragging, just choose one already, you are the head of a matriarchal family, choose the one benefit your business as your main husband and you can have whomever you want as concubine.
The family dynamic is ok but the actors aren’t convincing me

A Mysterious, Character-Driven Comedy with Strong Pacing

I really liked this drama. It features an interesting (almost unique) storyline that isn’t too predictable, giving it a mysterious undertone as it develops through character-driven plots. At the same time, it is highly comedic, especially in the beginning. The pacing is well-balanced, the character dynamics work, and the subplots are engaging. It’s short enough to fit into a busy work schedule but long enough for those who prefer full-length dramas over mini dramas (this is not a micro drama). However, the ending is a cliffhanger, and we are still waiting for a second season—which I would love—because the finale introduces a wildly new and growing conflict that would be great to explore in another season.

A Unique Transmigration Drama with a Meta Twist

I enjoyed this watch, though it has been a while since I saw it. I do remember it being an engaging and easy-to-follow drama with interesting narrative ideas, well-paced subplots, and strong character interactions. At the time it was released, it felt quite unique to me, especially in how it played with storytelling structure and genre conventions.

I hadn’t seen many transmigration-based stories or dramas that incorporate a metafiction-style narrative element, so this one stood out. The characters and their dynamics kept me invested throughout, and the overall concept felt fresh compared to other dramas I had watched at the time.

If you enjoyed dramas like Different Princess or Fortune Writer, you may find this one appealing as well.

A Favorite Among Their Immortal Romance Tales

This is a low-budget and choppily executed drama by two cosplay performers—but I loved it. If you can look past the unpolished filming and raw performances, the storyline is actually really compelling, and that’s what draws me into most Samael and Lilith productions. Their work often feels underdeveloped, but the content is usually rich, and this particular narrative ranks high on my list of their dramas to watch first. They retell this story in a few of their other dramas as well, which they also do with several recurring themes. In this version, they expand on the narrative to tell a love story between an immortal snake and a woman, set across time and during the Republic era.

A Flawed Fox Demon Story Worth Discovering

This is a strange drama, and it certainly has its share of plot holes and underdeveloped storylines. Despite those flaws, I still enjoyed it. For me, it's something of a hidden gem—a low-budget production whose shortcomings are easy to overlook because of its unique premise and the presence of a fox demon lead. The short runtime made it easy to push past some of the execution issues, while the themes and subplots were intriguing enough to keep me invested in where the story was headed. I would have loved to see a second season to explore some of the unanswered questions and unresolved threads, as those mysteries were among the aspects that interested me most.

what you should know about this drama

fast paced romance
a bit comedy
good chemistry
2 breakups ,short one though both, when 1st one came I was annoyed and deciding to quit after 2 eps because I'm not interested to see that but surprisingly the breakup wasn't always serious but cute and funny
really cute couple , really sweet fluffy
too bad it's short would've been nice if it was longer drama
ml and fml both visually look good
a bit serious part ,drama regarding company comes at the end only , 99% is cute fluffy sweet

I'm not into fast romance but watch sometimes but not every slow burn is good and satisfying, this being fast was completely satisfying for me

A Funny and Thoughtful Look at Women's Lives

I mainly watched this for the comedy. It was dynamic, weaving in power struggles involving social class and gender, sibling rivalry, and sharp social commentary on institutional gender bias. But what I loved most were the hilarious situations, the witty banter between characters, and the well-crafted dialogue that really delivered the humor.

Personally, I’m not a fan of family dramas—and this borders on one—but with its slice-of-life tone layered over a palace setting and strong social commentary on the treatment of women, it was easy to forget the family-driven aspect. I genuinely enjoyed it.

Tea, Tenacity, and Triumph

If you're looking for a women's empowerment story with a romance that doesn't compromise the power dynamics, I recommend A Dream of Splendor. I think it offers an engaging narrative that subtly weaves in culture and customs without ever feeling dull. The subplots explore gender bias, thoughtfully challenging problematic cultural norms. Political elements and conspiracies are also woven into the storyline, helping to propel the plot forward. Altogether, these elements created a rich and complete narrative for me.

The story centers on women running a tea shop as business partners, striving to find success both in their community and in their personal lives. They face numerous obstacles—from rival businesses to entrenched enemies—as they navigate a patriarchal and elitist society. The subject matter is compelling, and I found myself deeply connected to the show.

The Assassins Were More Interesting Than the Plot

I hate to say this—I know others really liked this drama, but I didn’t. Although I enjoyed the lead characters when they were part of the supporting cast in Butterflied Lover, their comedy and dialogue fell flat for me here. The overall narrative is interesting, and the subplots had a cute framework, but for me, they failed in execution. I found myself disinterested for most of the series. I was intrigued by the characters' backgrounds and the larger organization surrounding them, but the drama doesn't explore those aspects in as much depth as I had hoped. Instead, it places greater emphasis on the central relationship and interpersonal dynamics.

A Fantasy Romance of Fate and Reincarnation

This is a demon-and-goddess fantasy romance built around reincarnation, fate, and enduring connections that transcend lifetimes. I found it to be a sweet and engaging watch, with enough mystery surrounding the characters' pasts to keep me invested in how the story would unfold.

As a miniseries, the production isn't without flaws, and there are a few gaps in the storytelling. However, the fantasy elements, romantic themes, and emotional moments made it enjoyable overall.

The season 2 ending may frustrate some viewers, as it leaves several threads feeling unresolved. However, there have been discussions among fans about a potential continuation, and comments attributed to cast members have suggested that additional material was planned. Whether that ultimately happens remains to be seen, but the story certainly feels like it has room to continue.

the journey of a liquor deity.

watching Dashing Youth is like eating a cake with too many toppings on it. it’s a treat for sure - but it tries to squeeze in too many side plots and characters into 40 episodes, all while trying to show our main character, Baili Dong Jun’s growth, and his relationships with our other main characters.

characters are introduced, say a few lines, and disappear for a few, if not, the rest of the show. sometimes people pop up and while my brain is still trying to remember their name and their alliance they have already said their piece and hopped off screen. it’s a pity because many characters here are quite likeable and of course, dashing to look at. we had time skips every other episode (especially at the start and in the last arc), which could’ve been woven into the plot or show differently. the characters also don’t look like they’ve aged at all despite all the years gone by (except the kids who obviously are now teenagers).

towards the end, key plot developments are simply animated and narrated - i get that it would’ve been too much to show everything, but at least show a few snippets here and there instead of narrating everything off screen? this creates a disconnection within the world the show is trying to build. (for example, Yue Qing ends her life completely offscreen when she’s been one of the more important supporting characters? Lei Mengsha is suddenly a General?)

acting wise was done well. weakest link would’ve been Yi Wen Jun. her character was already not written very well, but i think the actress could’ve portrayed her better.

i was quite disappointed with the fight scenes. the first half had solid fight choreographies, but after that it was just CGI after CGI (though done well), and sometimes fights are skipped entirely. i was looking forward to seeing good sword fights here, but unfortunately did not get enough.

the only redeeming factor would be the friendship between Dong Jun and Ye Yun. i loved their camaraderie, and wished they had more screen time together. i also hoped to see more friendship/teamwork scenes where Dong Jun explores and fights alongside his new found buddies.

i would’ve enjoyed this cake more, if it just stuck to a few toppings that help bring out the core flavour.

overall: 8/10 (i rate pretty leniently)

The Drama You Don't Want It to End

This is the kind of drama I wish could go on forever. Seriously, how are you telling me it's only 12 episodes and not even 16? We don't need another boring, predictable romance or those repetitive thrillers that become exhausting after just a few episodes. This drama was such a refreshing experience, it genuinely lowered my stress levels because everything about it was top-notch. I haven't read the web novel, but the adaptation was an absolute chef's kiss for me. Literally cried watching the last episode. I want season 2 with 70 episodes now!!!!
