Not Your Typical Filmed Vertically Short Drama
I went into this one blind because I was on a Chen Rui Feng download spree AND there was no synopsis here or that I could find from another source , lol. Love his height and being a danseur makes him ever so graceful.Story: FL and ML are married but he wants a divorce because she is a "fool" having had some brain trauma that makes her seem like a child. The 2ml, who is the ml's brother, is a bit childlike himself and doesn't think his brother should abandon the FL who he views as a sister. Both the FL and 2Ml love watching C-dramas and are currently watching a historical fantasy one about a fox demon betrayed by a scumbag hunter. There's a scuffle and head injuries to both the FL and 2ML who end up believing themselves to be the characters from the drama they were watching. Thus, the antics begin on outwitting each other, the ML and the other "humans".
It was a fun and different watch from the usual short vertical dramas with some plot twists and sweet romance with decent flirting and chemistry. Yes, there are always the cliche' components because it's still a vertical, like the evil aunt and cousin who want her assets and the sweet grandmother who wants her great-grandson.
I can't say much about the music, so a neutral 5 on that. While I really liked it a lot, I gave a neutral 5 on it as I usually don't rewatch unless there's a lot of steamy kisses, lol.
I would recommend trying this one out.

A Rainy-Day Watch with a Few Light Moments
I have a soft spot for Liu Zhiwei, so I have been hunting down dramas I haven't already watched with him. Unfortunately, he stars in many low-budgets that aren't widely aired and the dramas that have done well are the ones he starred in as a supporting cast with others who have a larger reputation in mini-dramas. This is one of his lower-budget features where he is the main lead. However, I only enjoyed parts of it because I didn't think the storylines for each arc were engaging enough. But I did laugh over some of them. I would only recommend this one to Liu Zhiwei fans or deem it a rainy-day watch.Was this review helpful to you?

I found this storyline very difficult to sit through due to its heavy tone. The central relationship is portrayed in a deeply toxic dynamic, and much of the narrative focuses on emotional strain, manipulation, and the destructive consequences of the lead’s single-minded pursuit of revenge. Across its lengthy run, the story leans heavily into themes of suffering, moral collapse, and the impact of unresolved trauma on both the characters and those around them.I also explored the original novel, hoping for a different or more redemptive direction, but found it similarly bleak, so I ultimately stopped before finishing it. The adaptation does include additional material that continues the story into a more modern setting, offering a sense of closure and resolution. However, the journey leading up to that point is emotionally exhausting, which can make the final outcome feel more bittersweet than uplifting.

This is a low-budget vertical drama with some execution and pacing issues, but I still greatly enjoyed it. Huang Riying is hilarious onscreen, and this role is no exception. My Top-Tier Pugilist Drama with Outstanding Martial Arts Choreography
I truly loved this drama — it’s top-tier for me.Set in the pugilist world, the story is deeply rooted in martial arts sects and cultivation levels, with an emphasis on layered power dynamics, strategy, and rivalries. I wasn’t expecting to be so drawn in, but I found myself completely mesmerized early on. The fight choreography and footwork are especially impressive, making the martial arts sequences a highlight throughout.
The narrative is packed with intrigue across both main and side plots, with multiple revenge arcs and sharply written characters who often operate with strategy and intent. While the large cast and their shifting significance can sometimes be challenging to keep track of, the complexity also adds depth to the world. The story maintains strong momentum, with a structure that reminded me of Nirvana in Fire meets Dominator of Martial Gods, especially in how it balances schemes, alliances, and unfolding revelations.
What stood out most to me is how well the drama handles its character balance. Although it centers on a male protagonist, many of the most compelling figures are women — both allies and antagonists — who are skilled, decisive, and fully integrated into the martial arts world. Even the villains are engaging, often given motivations that make them feel layered rather than one-dimensional.
Overall, it’s a tightly built martial arts sect drama with strong cultivation-world atmosphere, excellent action choreography, and a consistently engaging narrative. The only caveat is that it’s not romance-heavy, so viewers looking for a strong romantic focus may not find that here — but for fans of sect politics, strategy, and martial arts storytelling, it’s highly rewarding.

An Epic Journey with Strong Character Depth and Layered Conflict
I randomly stumbled upon this after watching Ni Ni in The Rise of Phoenixes. And it was an absolute win for me. I thought the storyline was epic, the characters had depth and development, and even the villains stood out to me. Many were morally grey, with backstories that made them sympathetic and understood. I also appreciated how intricately they were tied to the protagonists, it made conflicts layered and blurred.What I loved most was the layering and how their stories unfolded. It made the experience emotionally resonant and engaging. The pacing also felt perfect, with well-timed comedic moments that broke up the heavier scenes without ruining the tone. I found the cinematography beautiful, and by the end of the series, it truly felt like I had been on a full journey with the characters.

A Personal Favorite in the Martial Arts & Fantasy Romance Genre
This is one of my all-time favorite watches. I’ve rewatched it many times—sometimes skipping certain parts on revisits just to focus on the main leads, and other times watching it in full as I did the first time.Overall, I really love this drama, from its tone and music to the romance between the two leads. I’m especially drawn to their dynamic and the way their relationship develops as they navigate misunderstandings, shifting loyalties, and personal growth. The story also balances heavier emotional moments with lighter comedic scenes, which helps keep the characters grounded and engaging.
As one of my earlier VR drama experiences, it still stands out compared to newer releases. The narrative approach feels distinctive, particularly in how it explores themes like fate, moral ambiguity, and unconventional romance that doesn’t fit typical expectations. It remains a drama I often recommend and continue to return to.

My Perfect Stranger is a solid 9/10 for me. There are no kiss scenes, but it’s still totally worth watching. Trust me, I’ve watched a lot of K-dramas, and this one managed to keep me interested from start to finish.I was a bit disappointed with the villains’ motives, though. After all the mystery and suspense, I expected a bigger plot twist and a more convincing explanation for why the murders happened. The reveal felt underwhelming compared to the buildup.
Both the male lead and female lead delivered great performances. Their acting was natural and emotional, making it easy to connect with their characters. The production quality was also really good, from the cinematography to the overall atmosphere.
That said, the plot felt a little too dragged out at times. Some parts could have been more straightforward instead of stretching the mystery for so long. While I enjoyed watching it and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes mystery and time-travel dramas, I don’t think it’s a drama I would rewatch.
Overall, despite a few flaws, My Perfect Stranger is still an engaging and unique K-drama that deserves a spot on your watchlist.

Strong Cultivation World, Uneven Execution. A Martial Arts Sect Drama Weighed Down by Pacing Issues.
I love Bai Lu, and the novel this drama is adapted from is a fantastic read — I recommend both the performer and the author, Jiu Lu Fei Xiang, whose work has been the basis for many successful Chinese drama adaptations. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the actual onscreen version as much as I had hoped. The cast includes many talented actors who did an excellent job portraying their characters and bringing a rich, unique narrative to life. However, I struggled with the pacing and overall execution. At 56 episodes, the drama began to unravel for me toward the middle to end, with filler content that felt random and unnecessarily dragged out the storyline. It was disappointing because there were genuinely great moments, and the core story is compelling — but the delivery felt sluggish at times and then abruptly rushed at the end.Was this review helpful to you?
Disjointed Storytelling with Minimal Narrative Drive. A Low Priority Even for Existing Fans.
I liked a few subplots, the soundtrack, and the use of reincarnated characters. However, I didn’t enjoy this drama overall. While most of Samael and Lilith’s productions are a bit disjointed due to their low budgets, they usually still carry meaningful momentum. This one, though, felt haphazard and random, with no real narrative beyond showcasing tension between the leads. It lacked the depth and potential I’ve come to expect from their work, which is unusual for them.If you’re new to watching Samael and Lilith, I wouldn’t use this drama as a benchmark — it’s one of their earlier productions. And if you’re already a fan, I wouldn’t place this high on your watchlist.

Actually other than chemistry the story doesn’t actually give you anything much interesting, the male lead background story a bit dragging in the end
But again the chemistry and all the romance save it hahaha

Messy at Times, Still Intriguing, but Weighed Down by Length
I enjoyed this overall, though it was a bit of a strange watch due to how exaggerated and messy some of the character dynamics can feel at times. The title itself can be read in a couple of ways, which ties into the drama’s focus on loyalty, obsession, and complicated relationships between the main characters and those around them.Despite some reservations, I stayed invested because the story explores several strong themes and gives its characters room to develop. That said, the pacing does start to drag in the latter half, which can happen with longer-format dramas where certain stretches feel more drawn out than necessary.
I also found the conclusion somewhat uneven. It leans heavily on its source material, but not all of the narrative threads are fully smoothed out on screen, which may leave viewers feeling like the final stretch moves quickly compared to what comes before. Overall, it’s a drama that works better if you’re already familiar with its original novel or willing to go with some of its more abrupt storytelling choices.

Diving to this drama with no expectation except that it will be heavily female centric, yes in a way, but it was so much much more.Chinese tittle 家业 embodies it perfectly, and it capture the essence of Chinese family value and done it so tastefully. Bittersweet and beautiful.
Acting is top notch, no words are needed, they compliment each other
Soundtrack is fitting (though none stood out)
It is a drama that you need to savor little by little not to be binged
The one lacking is only the plot for the male lead but it was minor
