Pretty Boring Storyline

I guess I am duped by MDL rating once again. As much as I liked Bai Lu as an actress, i am just not getting the vibe of the story here. I don’t feel the connection between FL and ML, the plot is pretty straightforward and the characters are just too plain. I wouldve overlooked the lack of chemistry between the ML and FL had the plot been interesting enough to keep me watching, but yeah, 3 cases through and they failed to convince me to stay on and waste my time.

The mainleads’ childhood encounter is also too tropey that I roll my eyes everytime they do the flashbacks. I fast-forwarded many scenes of those flashbacks too cuz they keep showing the same one and it gets annoying as the show goes on. I also thought this Li Peiyi character just tried too hard to look tough and brilliant when she keeps getting set up for every cases she investigates, the vibe just failed to come through. As for Xiao Huaijin, oh well the character development is too slow I just lost interest. Yeah he’s brilliantly perceptive. Both main characters are the same - they are supposedly quickwitted and intelligent with the only difference being the FL is the tough guy while ML is the weak counterpart who relies on his brain more than brawn, but that’s just about it. There wasnt any surprises to hook me on. Even the main mystery of Peiyi’s family massacre isnt enough to keep me on. It’s funny there actually wasnt many parts of the story that annoys me enough to drop this, but instead the lack of plot growth that made me lose interest.

It’s basically a story of a lady officer investigator of Palace Investigation Bureau (they investigate cases that happen in the palace) who is also a princess, running around doing her job while getting set up and led elsewhere by somebody big behind the scene, along with her trusted follower and a reluctant dept of astronomy vice director who is torn between avoiding her due to their past (that Peiyi had already forgotten, yeah the usual amnesia trope) and helping her with every case cuz she keeps getting in trouble and get endangered for them. The plot is too monotonous for my liking, failed to grab my attention, so I’ll just go ahead and drop this to avoid further waste of time.

see you next time…

IU's multiverse era 🔥 Ghost in Hotel del Luna → Betrayed in Moon Lovers → Reunited in Perfect Crown. Byun Woo-seok better treat her right this time as Grand Prince Yi-an!…….
ha ha 😝😝😝
IU and Byun Woo-seok's chemistry is insane in Perfect Crown 👑 IU delivers every emotion perfectly - from heartbreak to healing. Byun Woo-seok as Grand Prince Yi-an is so powerful yet vulnerable. The supporting actors and actresses are solid too. This whole cast ate! 8.5/10. The enemy wasn’t strong enough and the tension around them felt weak. Such a waste not using Byun Woo-seok’s ruthless side more. IU carried, as always.👌👌

Fluff, the best comfort BL

Muenfah was a very green flag, also cute with Minho vibes. Thomas did very well in portraying his character.
then there's Teerak's father. his actor was also great at portraying his character. i had VERY mixed feelings about him. every one in the fandom have their different viewpoints on this.

A different thing to say is this was my first thomaskong bl also auausave and i fell in love with both ships at first sight. though it was probably the first bl on their ships overall which their chemistry was great and new in a good way.

Surprisingly, it's a great show. The overall storyline is very cliche, like your bedtime fairytale story. It always very lightweight, cheerful and happy around the main couples. On the other hand, it's also very absurd. This absurdity is the strength of the show and the way they cover up the clicheness of a fairytale story. Don't think about realistic because the overall show is very absurd and hilarious, especially the first half. I like the twist about the interpretation of "Cinderella". The comedy style of this show is slapstick-ish. The storytelling style with main leads absurd thought depictions, animations and insulted narrations also seems fresh.

I feel the quality of the story has gone down a bit in the second half of the show. The story about Cha Min's mother feels unnecessary.

Watch this show if you're searching for a lightweight comedy show.

Boring

Usually I manage to binge short cdramas but not this one. It took me a long time to complete and there were several times when I fell asleep or just stopped paying attention. The premise was ok but too confusing. Too many characters which isn't unusual for cdramas but the characters didn't have any special traits to make them memorable. I won't even be able to relay the plot to someone because I don't know what exactly were the positions of several of those characters.

Besides the story being terrible, there was no chemistry between the leads. There is very little romance. There is a cliched scene where they MUST be together. Lol. Why do cdramas use this so often? Are you incapable of developing romance between your characters?

The music (both intro and outro) is very slow and depressing and I got a bit tired listening fo it.

Other than the leads being looking and there being some decent action, nothing really hooked me. There was just brief moments towards the end that made me a little excited but that sizzled out fast.

There are better mini dramas, just skip this one.

Cute but nothing more

Here we are again. I feel I am becoming a hater, but the standards for BL are lower than low.

Duang with You was very cute, with an adorable protagonist who had a lot of chemistry with his onscreen partner. I can't deny that. But the plot was so bad; it had no flow, incredibly flat and cliché. It felt like it was written by ChatGPT just so the main couple could play in something.

Honestly, since they never resorted to overdramatic scenarios, it was still enjoyable to watch, and it left a positive feeling.

But I can't, in good conscience, agree with the reviews that gave it above a 9.

Reminds me of Rely on me and I'll rely on you.

Gu jinzhao and Chen Yanyun as a perfect cast that no one can replace, I've seen the interaction that differs the FL to the other second and third lead. You'll know at the first glance that the ML is enough to make it the standard.

To be honest its the casting and the acting that made me finish this. The plot need more polishing, aside from that her sister Gulan shes one of the greatest character development Ive seen.

The opening episode, I really love that part, that shows that Jinzhao aren't afraid for someone to see her fury that she ain't a girl who can just be restrain of others even her father. I've seen her growth and the character where shes intimidated with Chen Yanyun but she knows that he's realiable man. Where Chen Yanyun a very charismatic main lead I've seen he ain't the man that only serves pretty face but you'll know that he'll have the gut to do things you won't imagine. From the moment he realizes his feelings for Gu Jinzhao, he ain't losing any minute to show it and profess it. He goes for it like time matters.

As for my favorite second lead Ye Xian, I'd cry for you, hate you and understand his character.

Overrall love for this drama. Its one of the best drama I've seen this year. Looking forward for more projects for my actresses and actors.

Even if you don't like imperial family and court drama, you must watch

I came here mainly to just swoon over this drama. I'll start from Chen Zheyuan, he's so charming, so pretty that it is very distracting when you watch anything he's in, he absolutely has the Aura™ of the character he's portraying. His acting is so incredible, he can be as cold as a stone and then emotional, heartbroken, you can see love and hatred in his eyes he's oh so amazing. I've seen Li Qin only in one drama so far, she's the perfect cast for Fu Yixiao, looks gentle but can absolutely kick ass. This drama is written so exceptionally well, the first episode is so dynamic, it reeled me in so hard and this place is kept throughout the entire drama. No weak spots, no dragging of the the story, just pure dynamic and drama. I personally don't really like imperial family and court drama but if it's written like this, boy, I'm so in. I am always a sucker for the lead character's side kicks and trusted men (Lu Ke, Hound, Yun brothers, Ning Fei have my heart and of course doctor Ling). Even the evil characters in this drama are written so well, you hate them so much you love them. Princess Xiyang is not entirely evil, I hated her naive spolied kid character so much but her character developed and I ended up loving her. I loved the emperor of Jinxiu, prime minister Zhong, Murong Yao (I love Zuo Ye in everything I've seen with him), the emperor of Susha. Seriously, top tier character and storyline writing. I especially love that we basically had two stories (about Feng Suige and then about Feng Xiyang) and both had equal screen time, both were finished, both were finished, both had character development. I can definitely see myself rewatching this for the story and characters and especially actors. If you're still hesitating to watch, don't and go watch, it's so worth it.

The good things: 1. amazing production throughout the series which means a lot of budget (understandable since PPW the most popular BL CP and they got a lot of sponsors); 2. Pond's acting is convincing enough to do this kinda goofy character; 3. Sometimes funny: 4. Pond with those contacs look ridicolous af (and I hate veneers on all BL actors yes that include Santa too)

The bad: 1. I fell like there is no chemistry between the two, as much as I hate We Are the series, PPW chemistry and chasing arc feel authentic and believable... in this one, I don't think Peach like Khun Thee at all (there is no justification to why Peach like Thee because Phuwin doesn't make the acting look believable and also because of the story and pacing); 2. The music is a no; 3. Same as always, Phuwin give us his iconic homophobic kiss and uncomfortable weird hug during NC Scene (his dedication to this kinda iconic tbh hsksksk); 4. The supporting cast doesn't bring anyhing to the table at all (I even forgot PerthSanta is here lmaoo)

Overall, not impressed and I don't care although WilliamEst in here it's still not enjoyable

Not bad, but not great

It's a decent romcom. Started out funny and light between the leads and then it got all mucky when the second leads decided to input themselves where they are not welcomed.

I thought the theme of them being the audit team for internal affairs was interesting. Very unfortunate that we barely know anything about team 3 members, all very surface level.

Great chemistry between the leads. Very golden retriever x black cat energy.
Loved that ML started to see her for who she really is before he even fell for her. FL was always isolated because people believed in rumors than actually trying to get to know her. So for someone like the ML, who was always loved (family wise and work wise) to be her safe space really spoke volumes. "To be loved is to be seen".
I also really loved the clear communication between them, very mature relationship.

For the second leads, their dynamic was lack luster. You can really feel that these two were placed here just for the office drama and to be an obstacle for the couple. The inferiority complex from these two was SCREAMING at me through the screen. Don't even get me started about how it almost felt like borderline obsession.

Plot line is very predictable and nothing surprising, so that's why it's not bad but not great. 8/10

Side note: SHS and GM looked so good in this drama!! Could not stop admiring.

✨The Reincarnation (Revenge?) Tour That Ran Out of Gas Halfway Through ✨

This drama ended up being a rather interesting little pit stop.

The premise is one we've all seen approximately 847 times by now: FL gets executed along with her entire family while she was married to an absolute waste of oxygen, gets reincarnated, and decides that if she's going husband-shopping this time, she might as well aim for the biggest fish in the pond—the Emperor himself.

And honestly? The setup had me seated.
We had rebirth. We had revenge. We had palace scheming. We had harem politics. We had another character who remembered the previous life and came pre-loaded with unresolved beef. The first few episodes felt like someone carefully arranging all the chess pieces for an absolutely glorious battle of wits.

Then... somehow nobody actually played chess.

I genuinely cannot pinpoint the exact problem, but this drama never managed to convince me that the leads liked each other, let alone loved each other. The chemistry was so faint I spent half the drama wondering if I was supposed to be looking for it with a microscope. It certainly didn't help that whoever was in charge of styling the FL seemed determined to dress her like a respected auntie attending a family reunion rather than the young FL of a romantic drama.
Even more frustrating, our reincarnated queen of second chances barely seems to take advantage of her knowledge from her previous life. Twenty episodes in and I was still waiting for some major master plan to unfold. Instead, it felt like the writers spent all their energy building an exciting playground and then immediately lost interest once it was time to actually play in it.

Now, to be fair, as far as mini-dramas go, this is nowhere near the bottom of the barrel. The first half genuinely kept me invested and I flew through those episodes. But somewhere around Episode 15 the momentum quietly packed its bags and left. Every episode became a little less interesting than the one before.

The romance doesn't help matters. The kisses are flatter than week-old soda, and some of the ML's lines triggered physical second-hand embarrassment. Which is particularly tragic because I've enjoyed this actor in other projects, so naturally I walked into this drama carrying expectations. Rookie mistake. Expectations are the leading cause of disappointment in dramaland.

At this point, I'm finishing it largely because the current drama drought has me out here surviving on crumbs and questionable decisions.

Would I recommend it?

If you've exhausted your watchlist, refreshed MDL seventeen times, and are staring into the void wondering what to watch next, then sure. Throw it on, switch your brain into vibes-only mode, don't take anything too seriously, and you'll probably have a decent time.

Just don't expect the spectacular palace warfare the first few episodes promised, because this one spends a lot of time loading the cannon and very little time firing it. 😭🍿

✨Update after finishing:
The last four episodes actually wrapped things up rather nicely. Most characters got happy, wholesome endings (including our leads ofc) and everything was tied together in a fairly satisfying way.
Do I regret watching it? Not really.
Would I have suffered any great loss had I skipped it entirely? Also not really.

This ultimately lands in that peculiar category of dramas that are perfectly watchable, occasionally enjoyable, but unlikely to leave any lasting emotional damage—or emotional impact, for that matter. A decent way to kill a few evenings during a drama drought, but probably not one I'll remember six months from now without assistance from my watch history.

Great Female Characters

The show was a lot of fun to watch because there wasn’t pointless waiting for the characters to accept their feelings for each other. Both were pretty honest with each other and themselves early on and it allowed you to enjoy watching the relationship unfold! It does get to the point (like a lot of Chinese dramas in this genre) Where the political going on start to feel repetitive, but overall, I stayed invested in the character stories!
Great music! Great production value! Beautiful costumes!

Action with a gripping plot line

Ok just binged it and I'm super impressed with the whole thing. It is an action drama done the right way! I am actually not a huge fan of mindless action but this show is different because the action sequences here are not mindless, there is a definite purpose to it, it's meaningful.

Direction of this show is superb because there isn't a moment where you can stop watching in between!

First episode starts with a bang, err literally 😁 but in between the bang bangs they will tell you the reason behind it in bits and parts, so once you get a hang of that story telling, there's no stopping, it just grips you till the very end!

Acting is fantastic and special mention about the lil girl kiddo who plays the younger version of fl, my God she deserves an award for that emotionally charged acting! Just fab!

Although there are quite few minor blunders, loopholes in the drama, overall it was very well made. Story is very unique too. So if you like action combined with mystery, you can give it a try.
