Pursuit of Jade (2026) is a magnificent romance war drama adapted from the web novel "Zhu Yu" by Tuan Zi Lai Xi with ML: Zhang Ling He (as Yan Zheng/Marquis of Wu’an/ Xie Zheng) and FL: Tian Xi Wei (as Fan Chang Yu) in the leading couple's roles; it is a star-studded production and the cast did an excellent job bringing their characters to life. The leading couple's chemistry is impressive, playful, tense, and sensual; from a marriage of convenience to lovers and partners for ever was a delightful journey full of memorable moments. Pursuit of Jade is an outstanding production with great narrative, beautiful cinematography, color palette, costumes, and great visual composition. Sigh

At first I enjoyed the beginning of the story which started with school memories.
But then problems started to arise from family and the environment. Okay, so I understand that this stage must be passed before starting a relationship further. I also understand that at this time, neither Yi Chen nor Lu Feng had the strength to stand alone and fight back. However, when the story entered the era of meeting as coworkers, I expected them to be more mature. It seems that in this era, with the internet being so advanced, after all the conflict they experienced previously, no one thought to find out about the various risks and struggles that come with deciding to be in a relationship with someone of the same gender. Lu Feng and Yi Chen are preoccupied with their own feelings, as if they will love each other to the core, even saying the promise of "forever" but they seem completely unprepared to face the problems that might come.

They don't prepare themselves by understanding that if you want something, then you also have to be ready to let go of something. Therefore, when problems come repeatedly, those who love each other without preparation will also be hurt and hurt each other repeatedly.

Then, when the story entered the red flag era, I couldn't stop criticizing every character's choices and actions. I understand that there needs to be "drama" to make the story more interesting, but everything really fell apart. The homophobic family, then the "good" Yi Chen with all his fickle actions. Let's count,
1. Yi Chen told Lu Feng's sister that as long as he was allowed to see Lu Feng who was being treated, he would firmly stay by Lu Feng's side. But, once he found out that Lu Feng was fine, Yi Chen backed off again.
2. then, yi chen decided to wear the ring again and be with lu feng, backing out again because of lu feng's stupid actions when drunk. lu feng was indeed wrong but left without any attempt to communicate, hmmm it was as if his initial intention had no strength at all.
3. again, when yi chen said he would never leave lu feng even though he wasn't part of lu feng's family, I was happy for him. unfortunately, not long after yi chen backed out again because of his mother and younger brother hmmm.
Here, I agree with lu feng, it's unfair if yi chen isn't ready to give up anything for their relationship. It seems like Lu Feng is always the last choice that Yi Chen will defend (and this may be the beginning of Lu Feng's illness).
4. and the climax, marriage?! sigh .... Yi Chen, you... you... sigh...
at this point, I even re-imaginedthe scene where the screen was split in two, showing the condition of Yi Chen and Lu Feng because their families were separated at the beginning, changing the story with GMMTV's style so that the story wouldn't be too heavy.

Please don't misunderstand me by thinking that I fully support Lu Feng. Because I know that Lu Feng also committed many red flag actions. But, if I have to choose the best from the worst, then I am more inclined towards Lu Feng.

I can't continue this already-too-long review. I just wanted to let you know that I managed to make it to the final episode.
what i like:
1. my baby Qin Lang
2. how does lu feng's appearance and aura change, from school to adulthood
what I don't like:
1. sigh
2. sigh
3. sigh

A fun mix of cooking, time travel, and palace life

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty surprised me with how well it tied everything together by the end. While the middle episodes slowed down a bit, the final stretch was engaging and brought the story together in a satisfying way.
The drama does a great job blending food, fantasy, time travel, and palace life into an entertaining story. I especially enjoyed watching how modern cooking influenced the royal court, and I became much more invested as the mystery surrounding the king and his family’s past unfolded.
The romance was sweet, but for me it wasn’t the main highlight of the drama. The chemistry between the leads didn’t quite have the emotional spark I look for in my favorite romance dramas, although their relationship became more believable as the story progressed and they were able to spend more time together outside of the formal palace setting.
The supporting cast was enjoyable, and the ending did a great job bringing all of the different storylines together.
If you’re looking for a drama with lots of romance, this probably isn’t the best fit. But if you enjoy historical settings, cooking, time travel, and a story that gets better as it goes, I definitely recommend giving this one a try.

WHOLESOME AND CUTE 1ST HALF

Something in the Rain is a drama that shines in its tender, wholesome moments—the quiet tension before love is confessed, the sweetness of hidden glances, and the slow-burn charm of two people falling for each other. Those early stages were beautifully done and easily the highlight of the show.

However, once the relationship was established, the story faltered. The leads spent too much time hiding their love instead of openly expressing it, and we were never given enough space to see them dream about their future together. That lack of emotional honesty made the romance feel incomplete, as if the most rewarding part of their journey was cut short.

The family dynamics were another source of frustration. The mother’s controlling behavior was suffocating, and the brother’s early episodes were difficult to watch. These elements added weight to the story, but they often overshadowed the romance in ways that felt draining rather than meaningful. For me, the mother’s role was especially hard to tolerate, perhaps because I personally wouldn’t accept such interference from a family member.

At times, the main character’s passivity and sadness even suggested depression, which made her journey feel heavier than it needed to be. While the drama aimed to highlight cultural and generational pressures, it could have balanced that with more joy, more openness, and more hope for the couple’s future.

Verdict: A beautifully wholesome start weighed down by frustrating family dynamics and a romance that never fully blossomed.

Best On-Screen Chemistry

This is one of those rare dramas that had me emotionally invested from beginning to end. It beautifully blends romance, comedy, suspense, and fantasy, but what truly makes it unforgettable is the incredible chemistry between the two leads.

Every interaction between Im Sol and Sun-jae felt natural, heartfelt, and believable. Their relationship made me laugh, smile, and completely root for them through every challenge. The story kept me engaged with just the right balance of humor, mystery, and emotional moments without ever losing sight of the romance at its core.

The acting is outstanding, the soundtrack is beautiful, and the supporting cast adds so much warmth and charm to the story. Every episode left me wanting to watch just one more.

Most importantly, this drama left me feeling hopeful and genuinely happy. Long after it ended, I found myself thinking about the characters and missing them. That’s the sign of a truly special drama.

If you love romances with incredible chemistry, memorable characters, and an ending that leaves you smiling, this is an absolute must-watch.

Omg?

The first episode and my jaw is already on the floor. Tell me why it was perfect beginning to the end.
First things first. The storyline is soo interesting that just keeps you hooked on. I've been waiting for this adaptation for a while and it definitely doesn't disappoint (atleast the first episode).
The music? Holy shit. It does an amazing job at capturing the eerie and sorta adventurous vibe of the series.
The casting is amazing. Both male leads are soo handsome it's just eye candy all over.
The chemistry? The tension? I couldn't stop watching. The tension between the leads was sooo obvious and the actors did an absolute amazing job.
Overall, highly recommend. Can't wait for the next episode!!

Three Body (Anniversary version), a hard sci-fi story that goes deep into human nature

It's difficult to summarize this series without giving spoilers and ruining much of the joy of watching it, as it's designed for the viewer to slowly discover the truth and experience the unfolding events and emotions alongside the protagonists. So, I'm sharing my spoiler-free impressions in the first part and using spoiler tags in the second one, with some reflections about the story.

Based on the first book of the acclaimed sci-fi trilogy The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, the story starts with the mysterious deaths of prominent scientists around the world and follows our main duo: police officer Shi Qiang and nanophysicist Wang Miao as they investigate them and a series of increasingly strange events that challenge everything humans think they know.

This investigation eventually leads to a shocking discovery: an impending alien invasion from Trisolaris, a star system struggling to survive in its chaotic orbit, and humanity's fractured response to this discovery. The story unfolds across two main timelines: the past, set in the 1960s during the Cultural Revolution, and the present, around 2010.

The series: general thoughts

Being hard sci-fi, the series weaves a wide range of scientific, philosophical, metaphysical, environmental, and other theories and concepts into the story, particularly in the first half, which may feel dense or demanding at times. If you haven't read the books — my case — and even if you're familiar with the concepts, you might need to pause, slow down, and process everything that's being presented.

The second part of the series flows more smoothly, with more action mixed into the overall tense atmosphere as the previous mysteries start coming to light, while hinting that an even more threatening new phase is coming, mainly setting the stage for what's to come in future seasons.

I started watching the original 30-episode series, but it felt like a snooze-fest, mainly because many scenes seem to be a bit longer than they might require. "Artificially prolonged" is the best way to describe the feeling. So, I switched to the 26-episode Anniversary version available from episode 3 onward. Now the pace was perfect for me, and if you still haven't seen it, or dropped the previous one but still want to give it another try, I strongly recommend going straight to this new director's edition.

Which brings me to my main caveat with Three Body: the production is solid but I'm conflicted about the direction. While I constantly wanted to know what would happen next, I wasn't particularly drawn to or blown away by any technical aspect; on the contrary, besides the sometimes stretched takes, I think the choices were competent but conventional, with even a few cheap emotional beats scattered among a few beautifully composed scenes.

I do give credit to director Yang Lei since I know this kind of material is genuinely difficult to translate to the screen, and I´m still wondering whether such an average approach is exactly what this interesting and compelling story needs. Three Body feels somehow lacking in places, but those shortcomings didn't matter at all by the time the drama ended, and I found myself loving it. Contrary to love at first sight, this was the deep appreciation and love that comes through immersion and time; the more I watched, the more I enjoyed it and wanted more.

So, do I recommend this Anniversary version of Three Body? Absolutely. The story is compelling and complex, and if you like or are a fan of hard sci-fi with deep meanings, it's a must-watch without a second thought. In fact, the second and third books are now at the top of my reading list because I want to know how it continues and ends.

The Story: My Reflections on What Struck Me the Most (Full Spoilers)

I understand the impact of traumatic experiences on individual choices, but the story brings up a very important aspect: the scale of retaliation. In Ye Wenjie's case, it´s totally out of proportion. A deeply personal traumatic event leads to an action that represents the extinction of humankind forever.

Even if you stretch yourself in extreme mental gymnastics to understand her immediate response upon receiving the message back then, the disproportion of her revenge, the nature of her following actions, and the fact that she has remained the same ever since, are a clear sign of the danger of hate and the catastrophic consequences of lacking emotional and spiritual evolution in a human being. In the end, she has far surpassed the monstrosity of what and who she hates, becoming something worse. I'm totally on Shi Qiang's side here — there's no excuse.

And that brings me to the following reflection. The drama discusses how power, knowledge, and responsibility intersect, but meanwhile the intellectual point of view is widely brought into dialogues, and this discussion is framed from a cultural/societal worldview; the spiritual side of human beings is explicitly ignored and embodied instead by Wang Miao and Shi Qiang. I'm not talking about a religious approach nor about compassion toward the invaders, but rather an ethical and metaphysical one, as part of the individual and collective spiritual development.

I'm not sure whether the story lacks this aspect, or whether the blunt, explicit avoidance of compassion and love is intentional, meant to show the imbalance of a merely intellectual, aseptic approach, and trusting the audience will notice they are symbolized in those two characters.

Wang Miao is the moral and ethical anchor among those of higher intelligence (the elite) who blends wisdom and compassion; Shi Qiang is the absolute ethical one. The later embodies the idea that you don't need superior intellect to distinguish right from wrong: he protects lives, and he protects humankind. Without specialized knowledge, he is still the smartest guy in the room; he knows when and how to surround himself with the right and good people, and he is capable of sacrificing himself for the greater good.

Lastly, linked to the above, hubris is the other thing that strikes me most, a trait that has the power of destruction and turns wisdom into ignorance. So, I distinguish three groups here.

Evans is an interesting figure who mirrors Ye Wenjie. While empathy towards sentient beings, except humans, is the origin of his motives, I find him more honest within his own logic. He is fully conscious of who he is and what he wants to achieve, although still with a level of naivety and blindness — why would an invader willing to destroy a species spare others, eventually? Ye Wenjie, on the contrary, builds herself out of selfishness and individualism, not only feeling superior to the rest but also detaching from life; she deceives herself, unconsciously, and the ETO members, on many levels, consciously.

Finally, ETO members embody the most common form of hubris: not only are they being manipulated by both factions' leaders without realizing it, but they also deceive themselves about the whole picture: why on earth would the intellectual elite of the world think that the explicit warning of an invasion by a superior form of intelligence, and the destruction of humankind, would spare them? And that's without even mentioning the utter contempt in their minds and hearts for people of "ordinary" intelligence.

To sum up, knowledge isn't wisdom, and wisdom without compassion is shortsighted. Something that's been in the air for centuries.

An underrated masterpiece.

I get speechless when i talk about this kdrama. The story, the characters, the cast, the music, the flashbacks, the plot twist. everything is 10/10.
First time i watched it, 2 years ago, i didn't watch anything for a while, couldn't move on. the story, the heavy feelings, the truth that comes out each episode, the betrayal in ko jung woo's eyes, the way each episode his face becomes more disappointed. that really was such an amazing pereformance!
the way each eposide i opened my mouth wider, when i realized what really happened, and how the 2 girls ended up died, that was wow.
the cast, each one of them did really a great job out there, they all did their best and more in this drama.
another thing i really liked and was heart warming is jung woo and the detective's friendship! for real that was one of the best things in this kdrama, like this is jung woo's gift for suffering his whole life.
as a picky watcher, this one was 10/10 masterpiece, highly recommended!

Great Chemistry and Romance, but the Female Lead is Hard to Stomach ((SPOILERS!!!!))

If you are looking for a K-drama with incredible chemistry and some genuinely amazing kiss scenes, Jugglers delivers on the romance side. The overall story is okay and the acting is alright, but a deeply frustrating female cast holds the show back from being a true favorite. The romance is the main saving grace of the series, and the kiss scenes are top-tier and easily the most memorable parts. Additionally, while the male lead, Nam Chi-Won, starts out with plenty of his own major flaws, his character arc is satisfying as he matures and grows at a much faster pace than the female lead ever does.

Unfortunately, the biggest hurdle for this drama is that most of the female cast is incredibly annoying and hard to root for. Park Kyung-Rye was easily the only likable woman in the entire show, but the downside is that we barely got any onscreen time with her. On the other hand, the female main character, Jwa Yoon-Yi, was just overall quite annoying most of the time. No matter how hard I tried to like her, she remained consistently irritating throughout the series.

The absolute breaking point for her character happens during the birthday scene (SPOILERS) when she brings out a cake loaded with a ridiculous 80-something candles—honestly, who puts that many candles on a cake anyway? Granted, she didn't know about Chi-Won's severe childhood fire trauma, so you can't blame her for making the cake itself, and you can't blame him for being very upset. However, for Yoon-Yi to try to play the absolute victim here and cry instead of understanding his reaction was infuriating. It makes your blood boil to watch her get so stuck up about her "Boss award" campaign, completely centering his deep-rooted trauma around her own feelings.

In the end, Jugglers is just an okay, middle-of-the-road drama. The female MC is ultimately just passable, but her lack of growth ruins the rewatch potential. If you want a casual romance with great kissing, it is fine for a single watch, but it has zero rewatch value.

First impresion

So far it's quite good, I didn't like the start, but it's growing on me. I like the acting, and the visuals are also great.

Episode 1:
* I absolutely am not a fan of them showing us the whole series in the first few minutes of the episode as an intro.

* The way those girls won't back off even after Chiharu rejected the confession is so irritating. No means no, and he definitely did not owe them an explanation.

* That ending was so unexpected but not in a bad way. Now I'm definitely excited to see how it will continue.

A feast from start to finish

Who knew that a drama about military cooking could end up being one of the most wholesome and comforting watches this year.

We need a drama like this every once in a while to pull us out of a K-drama slump. No complicated twists, no exhausting angst just food, comedy, friendship, and a whole lot of heart.

What I loved most was the deeper message hidden beneath all the cooking and laughter: food creates bonds. It builds memories, brings people together, and offers comfort even in the toughest environments. Whether you're at home with family or serving in the military, sharing a meal has a way of connecting people. That idea is executed beautifully.

The over-the-top reactions while eating, heartfelt stories behind the dishes, camaraderie among the soldiers, and all the unexpected chaos had me hooked. Every episode managed to be both entertaining and surprisingly touching.

Some of the most emotional moments for me were watching the soldiers go from exhausted and gloomy to genuinely happy the moment they sat down to eat. Seeing Seong Jae quietly observe their reactions made those scenes even more meaningful. Sometimes, when life feels repetitive or difficult, the one thing you look forward to is a good meal and this drama captured that feeling perfectly.

I also appreciated that Seong Jae didn't rely entirely on the game's instructions. While the recipes may have come from the game, the sincerity, effort, and passion were entirely his own. He genuinely wanted to improve and learn, which made his journey much more rewarding to watch.

And can we talk about Dong Hyun? Watching him on screen was such a refreshing experience. He was absolutely hilarious. I loved how indifferent he initially was toward cooking, only to slowly start caring more and more. Now THAT is character development done right.

Of course, I can't forget Park Jae Yeong. He was another standout character who constantly had me laughing.

This is exactly the kind of lighthearted, feel-good drama we need once in a while a reminder that sometimes all you need is good food.

Resenha

small town kdrama!!!!

I finished this show today and I have to say, that although it was hyped up on the internet, I mean Ahn Hyo-Seop being the male lead and all the references to his other works, I enjoyed it. It was refreshing and even if I wished it had more depth and more details, it was still enjoyable. A small town kdrama about community and trying to get better mentally and physically. Definitely a show to watch when feeling down or want to escape the real life situation!
IF you enjoyed "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha", "When the weather is nice", "Once upon a small town" and/or "Brewing love" you're going to like this as well!!!!

Resenha
