Veil Of Shadows

Veil of Shadows delivers a moody, suspense-driven story wrapped in elegant visuals and slow-burn intrigue. The drama leans heavily on atmosphere–dim lighting, symbolic imagery, and layered character expressions–to build tension rather than relying on constant action.

The plot centers on secrets, identity, and betrayal, unfolding gradually with twists that feel earned rather than forced. While the pacing can feel a bit slow in the middle, it ultimately strengthens the emotional payoff as relationships become more complex and morally gray.

The cast does a solid job, especially the leads, who bring depth to characters that could have easily felt one-dimensional. Their chemistry is subtle but effective, fitting the tone of the story. The soundtrack complements the drama well, enhancing its haunting and mysterious vibe without overpowering key moments.

Overall, Veil of Shadows is a good pick if you enjoy darker, character-driven dramas with a touch of psychological tension. It may not appeal to those looking for fast-paced storytelling, but for viewers who appreciate nuance and mood, it’s worth the watch.

Entertaining for the first half...and then the second half is where everything falls apart

Oh boy....where do I even start with this??
This drama honestly had so much potential to be one of my favorites. I mainly watched this for Song Weilong, as I haven't seen any dramas that AngelaBaby has been in. For the first half of the drama, I was actually really intrigued in the plot, as well as the romance between Xuan Lie and Jun Qi Luo. I really enjoyed their chemistry for the first half. Then, the second half of the drama came along, and I just feel like everything fell apart.

The plot became a complete hot mess, and I got increasingly frustrated with both the female lead and the male lead. The male lead is supposed to be this formidable wolf lord or whatever, but he's almost always getting hurt or injured for the female lead or whatever else. I also just thought that his personality kind of took a turn for the worst because I feel like his entire personality for the second half was him just trying to win Qi Luo back.

In my opinion, Qi Luo was one of the worst female leads ever. She had so much potential at the start, but I just feel like she was just so insufferable in the second half of the drama. She continuously pushed Xuan Lie away, saying nasty things to his face, and I just feel like after everything they've been through together, as well as how devoted he was to her, it just wasn't fair to him. I could understand why she acted the way did, considering the circumstances, but I just hated how she was especially cruel to him. The second half was just a chaotic mess, and I just couldn't follow what was happening anymore. I was so close to dropping it, but I decided to just stick it out and finish it. I will say that the ending was kind of lackluster. It wasn't a sad ending, for anyone who is wondering, but it was just...I don't know, boring? I was like: Oh, that's it? Ok then. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with anyone who was involved in the drama, as I had no problems with the acting, it was just the characters that absolutely drove me insane.

Alice Ko is in the two all time best tdramas & Fu Meng Po is in one of them too, so "why not take a look at this" had been my motivation to check this out. In all honesty several of the themes in this show are things I tend to avoid, but managed to reach the ending credits thanks to the all around excellent production values, good acting & the occasional comedy. The short runtime helped too..

Outside of my own subjective dislikes, I feel the plot is a bit disjointed, I don't feel like I watched a coherent story with coherent characterization. Anyhow at the very least every once in a while when I get to watch a Taiwanese show I'm always shocked by how much more lifelike the acting is & how much more vibrant Taiwanese sice of life can be, or rather how they can show this much on TV, I mean compared to censored cdramas or self-censored overly glamorous kdramas. I wish they made more non-BL shows...

A Vomit Worthy Overly Cringe Teenage Fantasy (I don't Why The Writer Called It A Love Story)

Positive Points
1. The cast was good, and the family of the FL was really healthy & supportive, which was a delight to see (especially the interaction between the FL and her brother). It was probably the reason I was able to watch this drama till the end.
2. The cinematography and editing were good.

Negative Points
1. It was nothing but just a cringe fantasy of a schoolgirl that came true only because it was a drama and not in real life. There was no depth in their relationship for me. I understand the ML's struggle and family problem, and his character was a green flag (which I really appreciate) and was written well (Not too great but not bad also). But I really did not find much reason for the ML to be in love with FL (I get it he felt alone and was facing a hard time, and FL's supportive words boosted him, but I did not like the execution at all). Later, his feelings towards the FL changed suddenly, I felt. Sometimes, it even felt like he was lowkey interested in her when she was still a minor (a big negative point for me). The biggest issue is how their love life was written. I felt the FL and ML did not have much chemistry. Except for a few scenes, I don't think they had a proper, deep conversation. Both were behaving like teenagers and were all lovey-dovey all the time (probably because the targeted audience was high school teenagers). Their relationship felt very superficial to me.
2. The character of the FL was written too poorly, who was daydreaming about her crush throughout the drama. Her thoughts were very childish (I tried to understand that it was due to her age), and she was too obsessed with the ML. Furthermore, after episode 8 when she had a reality check, her actions finally felt somewhat mature and rational to me, and I was almost liking her, but then her resolution did not even last for even an episode. She very dramatically cut off her wish to get into the Yihe University as she had misunderstood that ML had a girlfriend (she originally chose this university because her crush lives there and later she did not want to have any connection with the ML, but later she still went there to attend Yihe University, I mean what nonsense). What I hate most is a FL who has no sense of independence and is unable to think about anything but the ML all the time. I am very disappointed with the writer for doing this. Also, the troubles she faced during her internship and all felt like that problem was created by the writer just as an excuse to relate this to ML's problem. Moreover, even after she got together with ML as his girlfriend, she kept on calling him brother (it was an old habit, I get it. But why did it continue almost till the end/). This was very uncomfortable and weird to me as a viewer.
3. The ML's reaction on finding that FL had a crush on him since she was very young did not feel realistic to me at all. The FL was too obvious in her expressions that she had a crush on the ML. How come anyone didnot notice it?
4. FL was talking in a baby voice all the time. It was damn annoying sometimes. Especially when she turned legally adult and kept on saying she was an adult now and bla bla bla, but still talked in a baby voice all the time.
5. The choice of the production team to make them interact in class 7 (felt okay to me) and in class 11 (felt absolutely cringy to me due to how the FL was behaving) made me quite uncomfortable.
Overall, if you prefer a lovey-dovey, overly unrealistic diabetic love story with cringeworthy dialogues (suited for teenage lovers living in their bubble) go for it, otherwise, you might vomit like me.

Definitely one of the best dramas

As expected from the same writer of Coroner's Diary and Love Like the Galaxy, this one didn't fall short. I like how the female lead has a unique character. She's brave, smart and loveable. I also like that the male lead is not the typical arrogant and cold guy. No toxic love rival and no annoying characters in this drama. Even the villains (yes there's more than one) weren't all that hateful. They had a semblance of humanity and you would understand where they were coming from. At times, they were even pitiful. There are also a lot of naturally funny moments, which they brilliantly just inject unexpectedly. Really enjoyed this drama which got me hooked right from the start. Now I keep hearing the songs in my head.

Fascinating characters betrayed by easy clichés

“Duang With You” arrived with tremendous promise, charm, and a breakthrough couple in TeeTeePor. TeeTee displayed a genius for playing “goofy.” Most “golden retriever” actors play goofy to the camera, and it eventually becomes trite, but TeeTee played “goofy” in character and to his scene partner without it ever feeling forced. That is hard, and I was impressed.

Playing a diametrically opposite character, Por portrays a withdrawn, emotionally-suppressed musician. In other hands that could quickly have become a stereotype, but Por imbued his role with an odd, almost hypnotic intensity that gave his silence weight. That is also hard, and I was also impressed.

That set up the opportunity for two interesting, unusual characters to discover each other and grow together, but the series ultimately falters due to the writers' and director's profound lack of trust in their own characters. Instead of allowing the relationship to flourish through the agency of its leads, the production retreats into the easy cliché of introducing “drama” with a capital “D” in episode 10. Not only was it the cliché of using conflict as a substitute for character development, the conflict was such an extreme and horrific tonal whiplash as to completely jar the viewer out of the story.

The true tragedy wasn’t the backstory; it was that the production team abandoned its unique voice for a checklist of clichés. “Duang With You” is a frustrating reminder that many creators still haven't learned that a well-written character is more compelling than a sudden, unearned tragedy.

Truly love beyond the grave... Also the best xianxia/xianhuan drama

I've watched countless c-dramas and xianxias, and Love Beyond the Grave is extremely immersive and unique; different from all I've watched. This drama unveils its eery and mystique vibes in a deep, unique and artistic way that naturally immerse and draws us viewers in. The pacing of the story steadily builds momentum; layering dimensions of love, sadness, grief and all different type of emotions. From the start till the end, each and every episodes were well-written with no filler plots or characters and I never felt bored for a second while watching this drama.

The soul of this drama is He Simu, the most powerful 400 yr old Sovereign of the Spirits among all the past generations, yet she lacks the five senses of a mortal and is emotionally restrained, and the heart of this drama Duan Xu, a young handsome skilled general who's widely known for being brutal while fighting and bears hidden secrets from his past. He is unlike any other mortal and owns the Deliverance Sword, and is the spell bearer of He Simu; the chosen one. They share their connections through exchanging their five senses adding dimensions to the story, What makes their story so compelling is their unique bond through the exchange of the five senses. Through him, He Simu begins to truly experience life; through her, Duan Xu, whose world has long been defined by bloodshed and survival, discovers care, warmth, and love. Their connection is never loud or declared— it exists in instinct, in quiet understanding, in the way they sense each other’s presence and sacrifice without hesitation. It feels like an invisible thread is linking them. What lingers most is the bittersweet ache beneath their happiest moments; a constant sense of longing, as though love and loss exist side by side. And those tender moments got me completely clinging onto every shared glance, every quiet exchange, every fleeting second of happiness because their joy always seemed touched by something temporary, as if it could slip away the moment you reached for it. That fragility is what makes their love so affecting; it is steadfast and deeply devoted, yet always shadowed by the awareness of how easily it could be lost. I love how their story is not defined by romance alone. They are equally compelling; each carrying their own wounds, strengths, and quiet vulnerabilities that make their journeys resonate far beyond their bond with one another. Dilraba and Chein Feiyu bring these emotions to life with such restraint and depth. They do not need grand declarations to make you feel the weight of longing or the ache of gratitude for borrowed moments. It is there in their eyes, in the stillness between words, in the subtle changes of expression that reveal everything left unsaid. They capture that ephemeral beauty of loving something while knowing it may not last—and it is precisely this quiet, aching honesty that makes their performances so deeply moving.every shared moments between them because of how ephemeral and fragile their love and happiness feels. That emotional undercurrent is what makes their romance so captivating and sets this drama apart from countless xianxia and xianhuan stories. Their chemistry is intense yet effortless, and both leads fully embody their roles. Together, they create a love story that feels rare—tender, tragic, and profoundly moving.

The visuals of this drama are over the top. The cinematography, costumes, makeup, camerawork, settings, etc, everything is just beautiful and alluring. The compositions and dynamics between the Mortal realm and the Void realm are well-done. In the Mortal realm, everything was much more vibrant and warm whereas in the Void Realm, everything was just lifeless, cold, eery and toned down. The action scenes from this drama is probably the best I've watched in c-dramas. It was all throughly strategized, everyone was bloody, you could see the tiredness, lifelessness, madness, and pure rage all altered and layered in the eyes and faces of the soldiers and Duan Xu. The OST of the dramas all fit the occasions and scenarios happening and it was just perfect. It's rare to see a drama where it's perfect in all aspects these days however, Love Beyond the grave says otherwise. The ost Above all Spirits by Huang Xiaoyun deeply touches and shatters me the most. I personally feel like breaking down and crying whenever the song plays. The performances are what really brings everything together.

The supporting characters such as Jiang Ai and Yan Ke did a great job in contributing to the story. Jiang Ai was like a mother/elder figure for Simu and the only one in the Void Realm who truly understands Simu and is by her side. While Yanke on the other hand is obsessed with power and authority and mistakes his possessiveness as love for Simu.
I really loved Chenying as well. Chenying was the brother Simu never had and also contributed to helping Simu live life along with Foxy Duan.

By the final episodes, the story got deeper and hundreds of emotions starts flooding in. The ending is one of its strongest settlements. It carries both sweetness and sorrow in equal measure, leaving behind an ache that feels meaningful rather than incomplete. There is a sense of fulfillment in the way it closes, as though the story reaches exactly where it was always meant to; completion and rebirth.

Overall, I really enjoyed this drama and its hands down the best xianxia/xianhuan drama I've ever watched.

It reeks

I was hoping for a wacky, cheery, and colorful low-budget film. What I got was an attempt at comedy, a poorly acted, dull & boring fantasy type of movie. Yeesh now wonders if Liu Xiao Qiao gave up acting after being in a movie like this. I can’t blame her.

Liu Xiao Qiao is soon beautiful. She is no longer active, sadly. I am guessing I tried to make it big but got tired of being in B-movies. She never appeared in TV shows. In the age of traffic dramas, I am shocked to not see a few here!!! Is she traveling the world? Did she “settle down” to raise a family? Or is she now a business executive who made her own product ? Whatever she is doing now, I hope she’s happy. I still hope she makes a comeback and to TV shows this time!

Really Impressive!!! ?

Watching Veil of Shadows as a first-time C-drama experience feels surprisingly immersive, largely because of how elegantly it balances atmosphere with performance. The drama pulls you into its layered world of intrigue and quiet tension, where every glance and pause seems intentional, and the actors truly carry that weight. The leads, in particular, deliver nuanced performances that make even restrained emotions feel powerful there’s a subtlety in their expressions that speaks louder than dramatic outbursts. What stands out most is how natural the acting feels despite the stylized setting; it never comes across as exaggerated, which can often be a concern for newcomers to the genre. Instead, it creates a compelling emotional rhythm that keeps you invested, making the whole experience feel both fresh and deeply engaging.

This drama is really interesting and re-watchable those who are new like me might like this drama 😊💗

Such a cute lovestory!

And Jisoo's acting omg!!! I cant believe she acted so well here. Their chemistry was sooo good, i deffo thought the actors were dating in real. Jisoo should take on more romantic comedy roles it just fits her so well! I couldn't believe it! She is such a great actress!!

Now coming to the story. It was a fresh take. Sonething new. I even liked her story with the second male lead! It was funny at first. Then romantic at times.

All in all if you want something that you can binge over a weekend. Something light, something fun, then this is the show you need! This is definitely a comfort show that needs to be enjoyed with hot soup! Loved it!!

This series will never disappoint you

I don’t think words will ever be enough to fully capture how much I love this series. I’ll always be grateful for that random moment—like fate, honestly, when I came across that one DuangQin clip from the pilot episode. That single video was enough to pull me in, to make me want to start something I didn’t even expect much from at first. The storyline wasn’t exactly new or groundbreaking, but maybe it was my situation back then—as an elementary practice teacher, tired and searching for something comforting, that made this series hit differently. I needed something warm, something that could quietly stay with me, and DWY became exactly that.

When the first episode dropped, I watched it immediately. And believe it or not, no BL series has ever hooked me within the first ten minutes of the very first episode—until this one. There was something so genuine, so effortlessly engaging, that I couldn’t look away.

I honestly think a huge part of this series’ success comes from how perfectly they cast the characters. Teetee as Duang… I genuinely cannot imagine anyone else who could portray him the way he did. The same goes for Por as Qin. They didn’t just act the roles, they 'became' them. Their acting feels so natural, so sincere, that even their most intimate scenes never felt forced or exaggerated. It was subtle, soft, and real—just *chef’s kiss*

Beyond that, everything else fell perfectly into place. The character development was carefully built, the pacing never rushed nor dragged, and the attention to detail was incredibly consistent. Even the parallels woven throughout the story added depth in such a quiet but powerful way. It’s rare to find a series where everything aligns so well—but this one did.

And that’s why, for me, it’s not just a series. It’s something I’ll carry with me for a long time.

A good spin off

Earth Arcade's Vroom Vroom is a delightful spin-off from the popular South Korean variety show Earth Arcade.
The cast handles everything from driving (hilariously, as beginners like An Yu-jin take the wheel), planning, cooking, budgeting, and filming their own antics during a three-night, four-day getaway to Gapyeong. It's less chaotic than the main Earth Arcade but shines through genuine camaraderie and impromptu fun.
Young-ji time stood out the most!!

"Not the best but still good"

Just the name says "Not the Best But Still Good" , the story and plot of this series are very simple but on a deeper level it deals with so many problems and heals something in me. Like everyone has their own "The right one" series and "duang with you" is mine. I always end up not finishing a series no matter how good it is , i've always preferred reading and series seemed to be rushed for me and couldn't quite capture my heart but my one & only exception is "duang with you" please give it a watch , it's silly yet warms your heart in many ways.

The Ghost Queen and Her 23rd Graveyard Boyfriend

This is one of those dramas where if you get the plot, you'll absolutely love it. But if you don't, you might struggle to continue watching. It's genuinely fun and wildly entertaining, with a super unique and weird plot in the best possible way. The male lead makes a contract with the female lead, a powerful Ghost Queen, by trading away all five of his senses, simply because he wants to pursue her.And get this: she's a ghost who already has 22 ex-boyfriends, with their graves lined up in a row… Yet he still desperately wants to become the 23rd! Somehow, against all odds, the story turns out incredibly romantic and heartfelt. The chemistry between Dilraba and Chen Feiyu is fantastic. They play off each other so well. The soundtrack is beautiful, the CG and visuals are stunning, and from episode 36 onwards, it gets extremely emotional and heartbreaking.Highly recommended if you love fantasy romance, strong female leads, and love stories that transcend life and death.
