Had an insane potential

An alright series, I liked the first few episodes and was genuinely hooked, but it slowly became worse with every episode. The last episode felt like a fever dream, and I'm honestly happy it's done. It wasn't bad, just not really good either.
Would I rewatch it? Only if there is a second season to refresh the memory.
Would I watch a second season? Yes, but I'm not necessarily excited for it or anything.

Things I liked:
1. Bai Che. He is really smart, and I love that about him.
2. Visuals.
3. Idea. The idea behind the series was great and definitely had a lot of potential, but they really didn't execute it well enough.

Things I disliked:
1. Confusing plot. It was interesting but confusing in a lot of aspects. Unfortunately, people who made it are terrible at explaining things. Instead of spending time on explaining certain parts in more depth, they just add more and more lore pieces to make it even more confusing.
2. Cheng Fan. He is an incredibly unlikable character and genuinely pissed me off so hard, and maybe it's a controversial opinion, but realistically he had no personal reason for killing Bai Che's "father."
"He killed my mother" sure buddy... You mean YOU killed your mother? You needed an organ transplant for her, and HE was the first person you went to for help?? Yeah, it's your own fault, and you have only yourself to blame.
And saying, "No need to thank me," what are you even talking about?
3. Credits to the episode ratio. This one is pretty petty, but 50% series and 50% credits is an insane ratio.
4. No logic. As much as I love the plot and idea of this series, I hate how it doesn't make absolutely any sense:
* In episode 5, Ling Ye was theorizing about who killed Bai Che's "father" and even had thoughts that Bai Che might've done it himself. Now in episode 6, all of a sudden, not only does he know that Cheng Fan was the one who did it, but he also doesn't elaborate on how he knows it.
* If Cheng Fan killed Bai Che's "father," how has he not been caught yet? That doesn't make sense. He clearly had some "business" going on with him, so he should be one of the suspects, and don't even get me started on the fact that he touched him without gloves before killing him.
Watching this series feels like there is at least a one-episode gap between each episode. It feels like I'm always missing some information, and things are happening behind the scenes.

Asian Drama on Filial Bonds at its Very Best

If there's one thing remarkable about the story of 4 ELEMENTS - apart from the romantic arcs of each of the leads - it's the amazing bond among the four cousins, especially between the two youngest ones, Lom and Fai. The two older ones have the onus of responsibility resting upon their shoulders - Din runs the farm like clockwork, Nam is poised to transition from little boss to become the big boss of hotels and resorts, but Lom and Fai get to do fun "stuff" that come with the recklessness of youthful abandon. Yet the bonds among these four cousins are so palpable, they're even thicker than sibling bonds - They'd give their lives for each other in a heartbeat! THAT is what makes 4 ELEMENTS not just a star-studded sapphic extravaganza, but also a touching family drama.

4 ELEMENTS is like a Disney fairy tale turned live action movie turned Asian adaptation.... Thailand for the win! The world sends its appreciation.

One of the best fantasy K-Drama

One of the best tearjerkers I've ever watched. I cried so much throughout this drama that I genuinely lost count. The emotional connection I felt with the characters was incredible, and the chemistry between the FL and ML was nothing short of amazing. I also loved the second couple, whose relationship was just as heartfelt and added even more depth to the drama.

What I loved most was how every emotional scene landed perfectly. The drama made me laugh, smile, and cry, often within the same episode. It never felt emotionally forced, and every heartfelt moment felt genuine. I became so invested in the characters that I found myself feeling everything they were going through.

Overall, this drama left a lasting impression on me. It is one of the few K-dramas that made me feel so emotionally attached from beginning to end, and that is exactly why it remains one of my all-time favorites.

darker vibe that needed to narrow the focus

- there were 4 main characters and they didn't devote enough screen time or clear up enough of the confusion
- neutral on having sex after a character was traumatized (i.e. not in his right mind)
- a lot of things didn't make sense/weren't explained. Examples in the finale: if all they needed was a thumbprint, why not threaten him at his workplace or knock him unconscious to get the thumbprint, why kill him after they got the thumbprint, why didn't the guy investigating ever involve the police along the way or at the end, how did he know what abandoned warehouse the other guy was at, etc.

worth the watch

I wasn’t expecting much from this drama cos we’ve all seen this trope and very rarely is it done well. but this drama actually pulls it off!

I fully enjoyed every episode and only felt like the plot was dragging a smidge in episode 13. The FL and ML we amazing. I was so drawn in by the FL in the beginning. she executed such cringey situations in a way that seemed more like character progression rather than a forced awkward situation the writers want us to think is funny. idk if that makes sense but idk how to explain it really.
then the ML is all over the place but he nails his part too! all the cheesy shit he says I actually found endearing.
The plot is predictable but I didn’t mind while watching. and I loved that we weren’t swamped down by a bunch of filler side romances. only one side character romance and it only really gets anytime at the very end of the drama.
Is this a must see? not really… but it was def an enjoyable experience

The MDL rating on the show is weird

I’m currently an episode 6, and so far, this show is absolutely fascinating so I was puzzled as to why it has 7.7 rating on MDL.
Therefore, looked at the ratings for each episode, averaged them, and based on their ratings, this show should have an 8.6 rating on MDL, so why is it rated so incongruously low?
The MDL rating has nothing in common with the actual episode ratings of the show! 🤯

Update: This show definitely rates higher than 7.7! It’s a fabulous twist and turns thriller. I have seen right at 500 KDramas, so I can usually figure out who the bad guy is very easily, but not with this one. At one point, I had five possible suspects! I do not understand why the show is so badly rated, when it’s actually excellently done.

Realistic and a series that is worth watching

One of the biggest strengths of the series is LingOrm's performance. Their acting feels effortless and incredibly natural, making it easy to become emotionally invested in their characters. Every smile, glance, and moment of vulnerability is portrayed with sincerity, creating a chemistry that feels genuine rather than scripted. They bring subtle emotions to life, allowing viewers to connect with their journey on a much deeper level. Their growth as actors is evident, and it's wonderful to see how confidently they embody their roles.
The story itself is another highlight. It successfully blends beloved moments from the original novel with fresh, original scenes that enrich the narrative instead of taking away from it. The added scenes feel purposeful and seamlessly integrated, giving both longtime readers and new viewers something to appreciate. Rather than simply adapting the source material scene by scene, the writers expand on it in ways that make the story feel fresh while still respecting the heart of the novel.

Pursuit of Jade (2026) is a magnificent romance war drama adapted from the web novel "Zhu Yu" by Tuan Zi Lai Xi with ML: Zhang Ling He (as Yan Zheng/Marquis of Wu’an/ Xie Zheng) and FL: Tian Xi Wei (as Fan Chang Yu) in the leading couple's roles; it is a star-studded production and the cast did an excellent job bringing their characters to life. The leading couple's chemistry is impressive, playful, tense, and sensual; from a marriage of convenience to lovers and partners for ever was a delightful journey full of memorable moments. Pursuit of Jade is an outstanding production with great narrative, beautiful cinematography, color palette, costumes, and great visual composition. Overall, this drama can be considered a masterpiece; enjoy it!

Sigh

At first I enjoyed the beginning of the story which started with school memories.
But then problems started to arise from family and the environment. Okay, so I understand that this stage must be passed before starting a relationship further. I also understand that at this time, neither Yi Chen nor Lu Feng had the strength to stand alone and fight back. However, when the story entered the era of meeting as coworkers, I expected them to be more mature. It seems that in this era, with the internet being so advanced, after all the conflict they experienced previously, no one thought to find out about the various risks and struggles that come with deciding to be in a relationship with someone of the same gender. Lu Feng and Yi Chen are preoccupied with their own feelings, as if they will love each other to the core, even saying the promise of "forever" but they seem completely unprepared to face the problems that might come.

They don't prepare themselves by understanding that if you want something, then you also have to be ready to let go of something. Therefore, when problems come repeatedly, those who love each other without preparation will also be hurt and hurt each other repeatedly.

Then, when the story entered the red flag era, I couldn't stop criticizing every character's choices and actions. I understand that there needs to be "drama" to make the story more interesting, but everything really fell apart. The homophobic family, then the "good" Yi Chen with all his fickle actions. Let's count,
1. Yi Chen told Lu Feng's sister that as long as he was allowed to see Lu Feng who was being treated, he would firmly stay by Lu Feng's side. But, once he found out that Lu Feng was fine, Yi Chen backed off again.
2. then, yi chen decided to wear the ring again and be with lu feng, backing out again because of lu feng's stupid actions when drunk. lu feng was indeed wrong but left without any attempt to communicate, hmmm it was as if his initial intention had no strength at all.
3. again, when yi chen said he would never leave lu feng even though he wasn't part of lu feng's family, I was happy for him. unfortunately, not long after yi chen backed out again because of his mother and younger brother hmmm.
Here, I agree with lu feng, it's unfair if yi chen isn't ready to give up anything for their relationship. It seems like Lu Feng is always the last choice that Yi Chen will defend (and this may be the beginning of Lu Feng's illness).
4. and the climax, marriage?! sigh .... Yi Chen, you... you... sigh...
at this point, I even re-imaginedthe scene where the screen was split in two, showing the condition of Yi Chen and Lu Feng because their families were separated at the beginning, changing the story with GMMTV's style so that the story wouldn't be too heavy.

Please don't misunderstand me by thinking that I fully support Lu Feng. Because I know that Lu Feng also committed many red flag actions. But, if I have to choose the best from the worst, then I am more inclined towards Lu Feng.

I can't continue this already-too-long review. I just wanted to let you know that I managed to make it to the final episode.

A fun mix of cooking, time travel, and palace life

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty surprised me with how well it tied everything together by the end. While the middle episodes slowed down a bit, the final stretch was engaging and brought the story together in a satisfying way.
The drama does a great job blending food, fantasy, time travel, and palace life into an entertaining story. I especially enjoyed watching how modern cooking influenced the royal court, and I became much more invested as the mystery surrounding the king and his family’s past unfolded.
The romance was sweet, but for me it wasn’t the main highlight of the drama. The chemistry between the leads didn’t quite have the emotional spark I look for in my favorite romance dramas, although their relationship became more believable as the story progressed and they were able to spend more time together outside of the formal palace setting.
The supporting cast was enjoyable, and the ending did a great job bringing all of the different storylines together.
If you’re looking for a drama with lots of romance, this probably isn’t the best fit. But if you enjoy historical settings, cooking, time travel, and a story that gets better as it goes, I definitely recommend giving this one a try.

WHOLESOME AND CUTE 1ST HALF

Something in the Rain is a drama that shines in its tender, wholesome moments—the quiet tension before love is confessed, the sweetness of hidden glances, and the slow-burn charm of two people falling for each other. Those early stages were beautifully done and easily the highlight of the show.

However, once the relationship was established, the story faltered. The leads spent too much time hiding their love instead of openly expressing it, and we were never given enough space to see them dream about their future together. That lack of emotional honesty made the romance feel incomplete, as if the most rewarding part of their journey was cut short.

The family dynamics were another source of frustration. The mother’s controlling behavior was suffocating, and the brother’s early episodes were difficult to watch. These elements added weight to the story, but they often overshadowed the romance in ways that felt draining rather than meaningful. For me, the mother’s role was especially hard to tolerate, perhaps because I personally wouldn’t accept such interference from a family member.

At times, the main character’s passivity and sadness even suggested depression, which made her journey feel heavier than it needed to be. While the drama aimed to highlight cultural and generational pressures, it could have balanced that with more joy, more openness, and more hope for the couple’s future.

Verdict: A beautifully wholesome start weighed down by frustrating family dynamics and a romance that never fully blossomed.

Best On-Screen Chemistry

This is one of those rare dramas that had me emotionally invested from beginning to end. It beautifully blends romance, comedy, suspense, and fantasy, but what truly makes it unforgettable is the incredible chemistry between the two leads.

Every interaction between Im Sol and Sun-jae felt natural, heartfelt, and believable. Their relationship made me laugh, smile, and completely root for them through every challenge. The story kept me engaged with just the right balance of humor, mystery, and emotional moments without ever losing sight of the romance at its core.

The acting is outstanding, the soundtrack is beautiful, and the supporting cast adds so much warmth and charm to the story. Every episode left me wanting to watch just one more.

Most importantly, this drama left me feeling hopeful and genuinely happy. Long after it ended, I found myself thinking about the characters and missing them. That’s the sign of a truly special drama.

If you love romances with incredible chemistry, memorable characters, and an ending that leaves you smiling, this is an absolute must-watch.
